Ukulele players from around the world will be coming to Hawaii to participate in an ukulele ensemble led by Jake Shimabukuro. Go For Da Record...Hana Hou! will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, HI. They will assemble the greatest possible number of ukulele players in a 2nd attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

American Gospel, the solo project of The Republic of Wolves' guitarist/singer Gregg DellaRocca, will be releasing their debut album, Tall Tales Vol. 1, on May 15th.

It’s good to know there are still folks out there fighting the good fight.Arriving at O'brien’s Pub in Allston a little before nine, I felt as if I’d stepped straight back into 1967 – there was a motley collection of denim, long hair and leather from corner to corner – hazy shades of southern psychedelia. First order of business once inside, I met up with some of the members of The Night Beats sitting at the bar, Narragansett tallboys in hand.

The band Dead Sara released their self-titled album on April 10th. Based in Los Angeles, the female duo-fronted band weaves together a stiff, punk attitude with a grungy rock sound. Their sound sometimes reminds me of a heavier Hole, what with Emily Armstrong's edgy vocals mixing with the solid rhythm lines provided by guitarist Siouxsie Medley. Might I take a moment here to comment on the guitarists name?

The film also drew awareness to culture and struggles abroad, something rarely achieved through a concert film.

Everyone’s favorite former Texas gubernatorial candidate, political commentator and self-proclaimed “author, columnist, musician and beautician” Kinky Friedman is going bipolar, as in Kinky Friedman’s BiPolar Tour, which starts in New England on June 6 and continues through to July 1. As he has done on his recent “sojourns through America,” Kinky will be performing solo, dispensing the wisdom of the Jewish troubadour, and signing books.
