Athens, Georgia four-piece New Madrid is set to return with their fourth full-length on April 30, 2021 via Lemonade Records. Produced by Drew Vandenberg (Bambara, Faye Webster), the eponymous 10-song set finds New Madrid revisiting the southern indie rock sounds of their 2012 Yardboat debut while exploring new elements of psychedelic folk, jangly pop, and energetic post-punk. “It feels like a cool re-set,” says bassist Ben Hackett. “This is the closest to what the band has always sounded like in our heads.”

Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Paula Cole shares her new song “Black Mountain Blues.”  Recorded by Bessie Smith and covered by Janis Joplin, Cole’s version of the song is the second single from her upcoming album American Quilt.  “It’s strong like black coffee and it’s warrior-esque”, says Cole. The Australian musician has already wracked an enviable career in the world of American blues music. We recently chatted about his bright career, the pandemic challenge to live performances, and his plans for the future.

I didn’t grow up in a small town. Los Angeles is quite the opposite in fact. I absolutely adore my city, but it’s hustle and bustle hardened me in many ways, especially thinking back to first meeting my significant love of almost twelve years. In comparison he was softer, innocent, and much more naïve than me due to his upbringing in the rural Midwest. Walmart was the hub of the community. Upon visits multiple excursions each day were made to the superstore since there wasn’t anything else to occupy our time. A few fast-food joints lined the main road.
