On her ninth studio album, Cindy Alexander reflects back on the days when musicians went into the studio and recorded albums live, with vocals and instruments performed simultaneously in one room, with no click track.  “It’s definitely “old school” and hardly ever done these days, basically because it’s not easy!” says Cindy, “the artist literally has “Nowhere to Hide.”

After dropping a first phase lineup which boasted two nights of STS9, two nights of Lettuce and nearly 40 additional artists, Gem & Jam Festival continues to surpass the lofty levels set last year.

Nancy Wilson, one of the founding members of the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group Heart, has teamed up with former Prince’s New Power Generation band member and R&B singer Liv Warfield to form the soulful, rock super group, Roadcase Royale. The band will release their debut album, First Things First, this Friday, September 22, 2017.  The album was produced by fellow Roadcase Royale band member Dan Rothchild (Heart) along with the band.

The Bluegrass scene has been exploding over the past few years, and since the Bill Monroe days, south-central PA has been at the heart of it. In the middle of this hotspot of up and coming bluegrass bands, is Mountain Ride, an original bluegrass band that seamlessly comingles both traditional and progressive bluegrass styles. Lead singer and songwriter Eric Avey has assembled an amazingly talented group of musicians to go along with some very well written original lyrics.

Instrumental rock-fusion quartet TAUK have confirmed a grand finale to their Fall US Tour. 2017 will come to a close with 2 shows at Charleston, SC’s Pour House, and one night at Atlanta, GA’s Variety Playhouse.  The current fall tour comes after a successful summer run of festival shows at Electric Forest, LOHI Music Festival, FloydFest and many more.  Support acts for the NYE run, and the band’s hometown TAUKsgiving show will be announced shortly. Tickets to the New Years’ run will be available this Friday at 10 am EST.

The three day music festival and carnival wrapped up Sunday night headlining a 90's punk band reunion performance with The Jawbreaker. This being the first time they have played together in 21 years. Seemingly an unimaginable feat, festival organizers have been able to tap into their deep connections again. Last year they got The Misfits to reunite. This speaks to the raw dedication and deep ties that the partnering organizers have forged over the years.

Country rock comes in many flavors. While the public thirst for minty, freshly showered hornyman doubletonk and cliches waxy as supermarket apple skin may never be slaked, plenty of grimier flavors remain popular. As ingredients are usually either unlabeled or illegible, country rock connoisseurs often determine the qualities of these flavors by tongue alone.

For the past quarter-century, Colorado’s Leftover Salmon has established itself as one of the great purveyors of Americana music, digging deep into the well that supplies its influences; rock ‘n’ roll, folk, bluegrass, Cajun, soul, zydeco, jazz and blues. They are firmly settled in the long lineage of bands that defy simple categorization, instead setting their own musical agenda.

When it comes to music, the most important element for the Austin based band Trouble in The Streets is to create something new. Their sound is uniquely their own pulling from influences like Rage Against the Machine, Beats Antique, to Hiatus Kaiyote. The multi-talented band, Trouble in The Streets has dubbed this signature sound “Electro Tribe,” a vibe that masterfully blends electronic music, international sounds, with hip-hop, rock and R&B.

Denver, Colorado’s Masontown, is a new young band with an enchanting sound that emerged from the hotbed of the Colorado roots music scene. The band is releasing their debut album In This Time on Oct. 13, 2017. The new album features mostly original songs such as “Cambric Shirt,” “In This Time” and highlights the band's ability to shine on their individual instruments.
