To celebrate the 50th Anniversary the release of the classic album Big Star #1 Record, benefit concert producers the Wild Honey Foundation and Big Star founder Jody Stephens will present a live performance of this legendary LP, performed in its entirety and in order by Jody Stephen’s all-star ensemble. Bonus songs from Big Star’s Radio City (“September Gurls”), Big Star Third, and Chris Bell solo material will also be performed. The event, a benefit for the Autism Healthcare Collaborative, will take place November 5th, 2022 at 8 p.m., at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, Calif.

For the past 13 years, the 30A Songwriters Festival has attracted thousands of dedicated live music fans from around the country to hear original songwriters spanning many genres of music perform their songs. In 1987, legendary jazz bassist Stanley Clarke, ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland, and singer-songwriter Deborah Holland surprised the world when they emerged as Animal Logic. Was it going to be a jazz-rock or punk-pop project? It turned out to be neither. I think there’s an almost universal feel of bittersweet loss to the end of summer. A sense of nostalgia sweeps through us as the sun takes on that certain slant of light right about three in the afternoon. Everyone likes to wrap up that season in their own way. Here in Boulder, there’s nothing like a grassrooty concert out in the yard with a local band twanging from the deck on “raw tales of pain and heartache, hangovers, and isolation” just as their website promises.
