On a balmy Friday evening in South Florida, with relatively low (and I say lightly) humidity, I set out on the hour long drive down to North Miami Beach to see one of my absolute favorite bands, Medeski Martin and Wood. What can you say about Medeski Martin and Wood. They are by far the most talented improvisational, funk, jazz, modern, eclectic, ground paving, limit pushing trios out there. And have been for over a decade. I picked up my friend Sarah and we hit the road.

Thanks to Jann L for this picture! Jerry's coming back to the big island (Kona) after a day spent scuba diving. Jann told us Jerry could spend more time under water on one tank than any body else.

If you'd like to share your Jerry pictures, we'll be more than happy to tell your story too. Thanks for sharing, Jann!

thanks,

We often get the question about FloydFest, from folks who haven't heard of the town of Floyd; "Will Pink Floyd be there? Is it a Pink Floyd cover band festival?" No, actually, FloydFest is named after our one-stoplight, two-block town, or rather the special essence of our town, which residents and visitors alike experience as a respite from the restless, hurried activity of our modern society, and the cookie-cutter look and feel of many, if not most, modern places.

There's a lot more to do in Vancouver than sitting around getting stoned, but it's sure nice to know there's some where in North America where an adult can smoke pot in a comfortable, friendly, designated smoke shop.  "Vansterdam," in the northeast part of Vancouver is the closest thing to Amsterdam any where in North America. Though marijuana is not sold there, you can bring in your own stash and smoke up.

Here's some suggestions if you're visiting Vancouver:

The Oriental Theater to Host Meniskus and Fraga on Saturday, May 26. Denver, CO.

One of Denver's finest and most up-and-coming venues, The Oriental Theater, will play host to two of our favorite local live acts later this month. Local crowd-pleasers meniskus will join Fraga for a one-night-only show on Saturday, May twenty-sixth at the Oriental.

Pearl Jam is back, I'm not saying they ever left, but remember when Aerosmith quit drugs and came back with a hugely successful album, that's kind of like this. Pearl Jam has never stopped creating music or touring almost non-stop in the past 15 year. This new album, I think, is the best thing they have ever done. I know there are a lot of Pearl Jam fans that will disagree with me, but regardless, this music is right for this moment in time.

Fifty states = fifty albums.  This is the goal of singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens.

This year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival was a special one.. as I knew it would be. As post-Katrina levee breach life returns to a mere semblance of normalcy in the Crescent City, you wonder how these resilient people can still host such an amazing party in the face of so much utter destruction.

Hailed as one of the most-anticipated festival line-ups of the season, the third annual Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival, presented by New Belgium Brewing Company, is set to thoroughly satisfy concertgoers, slated for June 8-11 at Clinton State Park near Lawrence, Kan. The event will combine four days of live entertainment with camping and other outdoor activities.
