Leaders from Durham’s civic organizations, cultural institutions, government and business announced earlier today that Moogfest – the internationally acclaimed festival of music, art and technology -- will debut in Durham May 2016. This announcement signals a long-term commitment by festival organizers, reinforcing the exploding technology scene and culture of innovation in the Triangle. The three-day event will run from May 19-22, 2016.

On Friday, September 11, 2015, Lockn' Festival presents an exclusive performance of Mad Dogs & Englishmen, hosted and curated by Tedeschi Trucks Band and featuring Leon Russell with many original members of the famed tour, as well as additional special guests, to take place at Lockn' Festival in Arrington, Virginia.

Leave Austin at 4:45 a.m. Having never been up before the sun, I’m only semi-lucid and aware that it is dark outside as we drive to the airport. Land in D.C. at 11 a.m. Get picked up by friends, short reunion on the sidewalk, and then it’s time to put on the Festival Game Face. Caravan to Dover, Delaware including multiple stops for food and water, then food and Gatorade, then to look for a bathroom. Bathroom is a single Port-a-Potty behind gas station… not ready to resort to that camping life yet. Pee on grass by fence. Get yelled at by woman for peeing on her property.

Electric Forest is amazing.  It inspires plenty to say but I am going to keep it short.  This festival is unapologetically immature. Nanny Nanny Boo Boo.  This is the festival of the future with freaks, geeks, and oh my! Kids.  Or Kidz as we used to call em in my day.  They are lude, crude, young, and full of piss and vinegar.  Yes.

Firing on all cylinders, the 25th annual High Sierra Music Festival, one of Northern California’s biggest and most cherished summer jubilees, was bursting at the seams with music and merriment over the Fourth of July weekend.

This may be the hardest event that I have ever put into words. On the 10th anniversary of one of the world’s greatest displays of art, music, education, dance, creativity, and community, I have the honor of being a part of this legendary sold out Sonic Bloom Festival experience. After setting up camp and a short cool down drizzle, the magic began. Hummingbird Ranch in Spanish Peaks Country, CO is this year’s home and backdrop for our unified field.

Today, the Home Grown Music Network 20th Anniversary Festival has added five new acts to the lineup for the event happening October 1-3 at Harmony Stage in Mebane, NC. Headlined by Lotus, Keller Williams and one still to be announced, the festival grew with the additions of:

BIG Something (2 sets)

Fat Cheek Kat

Urban Soil

Imperial Blend

Nick & The Babes with special guest JoJo

It has been raining on us in Colorado unusually much this spring, but that has not stopped or even slowed down the festival scene in this beautiful state. Parking was easy, and as I approached the festival, I heard the sounds of Vine Street Vibes as I strolled down the trendy neighborhood that we now call the Highlands (formerly known as the North side). Vine Street Vibes play instrumental electro-funk, and they were a nice way to begin a very diverse lineup.

The Lockn' Festival is thrilled to announce that Jimmy Cliff will be returning to Lockn' Festival 2015. This will be a special collaborative set with Cliff sitting in with Lockn' Festival veterans Widespread Panic.

This Independence Day weekend, I call upon you all, to celebrate. In recognition of all things we hold dear, take time to cherish. Cherish your loved ones, cherish yourself. This Independence Day, recognize that on whatever whim we may exist, we are here with each other and without that, well, things would be much less interesting. Celebrate your freedom to express yourself through whatever means possible. If only a moment in a hectic day, make that moment yours.
