Simply put, pretty, is the location.  Smiles, sounds and relaxation are the destination. To be more specific Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance is located approximately fifteen to twenty miles from the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and U.S.

On Tuesday, October 9th, 2012, Jimmy Tebeau, bassist for the Grateful Dead tribute band The Schwag and most recently JGB, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for the crime of “maintaining drug-involved premises” on his 350-acre farm in a rural county in Missouri.  The government closed down the farm, which was known as Camp Zoe and home to the music festival Schwagstock

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL has now confirmed it will hold the 15th annual edition of its gargantuan event over two three-day weekends March 15, 16 & 17 and March 22, 23 and 24, 2013 in Miami, FL.   This marks the first time ever for a major electronic dance music (EDM) festival to do so anywhere.

The 6th Annual Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival is just around the corner and today event producers release the daily stage performance schedule. With more than 50 artists on the lineup – many of who will perform multiple sets throughout the weekend – music runs nearly round-the-clock at Bear Creek.

This weekend, I was one of the luckiest people in the world. San Francisco had a banner weekend full of events, from Fleet Week to the World Cup to the Castro Street Fair to Litquake to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass—and that’s not to mention the athletic events that took place in the Bay Area. Such a full calendar guarantees that all modes of transportation will be a nightmare, if not deadlocked.

Grab your costumes and your dancing shoes; Railroad Earth’s Hangtown Halloween Ball is just around the corner. Featuring three nights of killer music, workshops and Halloween themed programming, the 2nd annual event will offer a unique Halloween festival experience for music lovers young and old.

The time of year has come where that childhood anxiety of change and new adventures both excites and frights us to the bone. Mother Nature tells us that it’s time to progress. After Labor Day we all start to feel it. This is the time when some of us head back to school, and this is the time when some of us start packing away our wonderful toys of summer.  We say goodbye to our wonderful wilderness festival dance companions. The end of summer draws near. Festavarians, especially us in the Midwest, know that our times together are going in a new direction.

Treasure Island is a weird place. Named after the Robert Louis Stevenson book, Treasure Island was constructed (yes, constructed) in the 1930s as an airport. When that idea was scrapped, it was converted into a location to hold California’s world’s fair in 1939-1940. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, the island was converted into a full naval base. From then on the island was rarely used, sitting as a reminder of World War II to the many commuters crossing the Bay Bridge. In 2005 the navy sold the island back to the city of San Francisco, prompting a repurposing of the grounds.

Winner of four Blues Music Awards and a Grammy Award for “Best Blues Album” the Tedeschi Trucks Band will headline the inaugural Sunshine Blues Festival in Florida, playing three dates in the state.  Featuring two stages of live bands, the Festival will make its debut at Centennial Park in Fort Myers, Friday, January 18, 2013, with music starting at 12:30PM.  Then, Saturday, January 19, 2013, with music starting at 11AM, it comes to Miz

My god, can you believe it’s already October? Fall plants are starting to fruit, the weather is getting slightly cooler, the nights seem fresher. And if you’re a bluegrass fan, you probably know what else that means – Yonder Mountain String Band’s Harvest Music Festival is nearing. This year’s lineup has seen a few drop-outs, but it also features some great acts, both well-known and little-known.
