Big IV Productions’ Bear Creek Music & Arts Festival has unveiled another batch of artist additions for the 2011 event. New acts include Galactic, Big Gigantic (also just added to the Purple Hatters Ball, details below), Garage A Trois, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Skerik, Fred Wesley, Hairy Apes BMX, The Trio (Porter, Vidacovich, Hartswick), Chali 2'na Band, Underground System, Shak Nasti, and The Last Straw.
The Burlington Discover Jazz Festival celebrates its 28th year from June 3-12, 2011, with the sounds of jazz, blues, funk and Latin music in the idyllic setting of Vermont. For 10 days, over 50,000 people enjoy a unique mix of concerts, dances, jams, street parties, cruises on Lake Champlain, meet the artist sessions and workshops.

Promoters announce today the addition of Colorado’s Big Gigantic to the artist lineup for the Purple Hatters Ball held at Live Oak, FL’s Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. An annual event celebrating the life of Rachel Morningstar Hoffman, the 2011 festival will take place May 13-15 and will feature Emancipator, Russell Batiste Band, DubConscious, Papadosio and more. Look for a charity silent auction at the festival. All attendees are invited to wear a purple hat throughout the weekend.

The line-up for the 10th edition of Gent Jazz Festival (July 7th – 17th, Bijloke) is complete, with bands such as Sonny Rollins, Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub feat. Trixie Whitley & Brian Blade, Return to Forever IV, Angus & Julia Stone, Absynthe Minded, Morcheeba, Al Di Meola World Sinfonia feat. Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Randy Brecker/Bill Evans Soulbop Band feat. Hangout Festival is partnering with the nonprofit organization Conscious Alliance to host an ‘Art That Feeds’ food drive at this year’s event. All attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate, which will benefit the Bay Area Food Bank. Anyone that donates 10 non-perishable food items will receive a free, limited edition commemorative event poster created by Roman Villagrana.
