Promoters announce today the addition of Colorado’s Big Gigantic to the artist lineup for the Purple Hatters Ball held at Live Oak, FL’s Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. An annual event celebrating the life of Rachel Morningstar Hoffman, the 2011 festival will take place May 13-15 and will feature Emancipator, Russell Batiste Band, DubConscious, Papadosio and more. Look for a charity silent auction at the festival. All attendees are invited to wear a purple hat throughout the weekend.

Right now there is a special on Desert Rocks Music Festival tickets, go buy yours and get ready to get groovy with some great bands in Moab this Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29. This year Desert Rocks (DR) will be hosting an array of artists, from Hip Hop to Jam Grass. The line up includes:

As previously announced, the 2011 Pitchfork Music Festival will be taking place on Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 at Chicago's Union Park! Three-day passes are sold out (gone within 24 hours!), but single-day passes are still available for the totally reasonable price of $45.

The line-up for the 10th edition of Gent Jazz Festival (July 7th – 17th, Bijloke) is complete, with bands such as Sonny Rollins, Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub feat. Trixie Whitley & Brian Blade, Return to Forever IV, Angus & Julia Stone, Absynthe Minded, Morcheeba, Al Di Meola World Sinfonia feat. Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Randy Brecker/Bill Evans Soulbop Band feat. Medeski, Martin & Wood, Michel Portal Quintet, Agnes Obel, Red Snapper, Dave Holland Quintet, Al Foster/George Mraz Quartet feat.

Hangout Festival is partnering with the nonprofit organization Conscious Alliance to host an ‘Art That Feeds’ food drive at this year’s event. All attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate, which will benefit the Bay Area Food Bank. Anyone that donates 10 non-perishable food items will receive a free, limited edition commemorative event poster created by Roman Villagrana.
