It really wasn’t just “One More Saturday Night” even though it was. Yes, the show was on a Saturday night, and I was really happy about that. Having been to at least one and sometimes two shows since the band began touring together in 2015. Most of those shows had been in NY, one in… Continue reading Dead & Company | Cellairis Amphitheatre | 6/29/19
We are arriving and departing all at the same time. – David Bowie I wasn’t sure I should even go to this show anymore. In April, when I bought the tickets, it was billed as a celebration for the release of the Chris Robinson Brotherhood’s latest album, Servants of the Sun. Then out of the… Continue reading Chris Robinson Brotherhood | Baby's All Right | 6/27/19
Carlos Santana, to paraphrase a funky expression, “tore the roof off that sucker,” on June 27 at a cool and comfortable evening outing near Sacramento, California. He and the band blasted out of the gate, following a big-screen montage of old Santana Woodstock-era footage, with an exhilarating version of “Soul Sacrifice,” the epic instrumental that… Continue reading Santana + The Doobie Brothers | Toyota Amphitheatre | 6/27/19
Despite their emergence in the mid-sixties at the height of the counterculture era, the Grateful Dead were never considered an overtly political act. While no friend to the corporate establishment or a cog in the government machine, the band left the protest songs to musicians such as Bob Dylan. That’s not to say that their… Continue reading Dead & Company | Jiffy Lube Live | 6/26/19
There are occasions when you can just smell a good time coming, and a Friday night performance by Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at Eugene’s (Ore.) cozy, Cuthbert Amphitheater had the unmistakable aroma of “you don’t want to miss this.” Oregon unfurled a sparkling, early summer evening at the beautiful riverside venue, and JRAD subsequently accommodated… Continue reading Joe Russo's Almost Dead | Cuthbert Amphitheater | 5/31/19
The San Francisco-based Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band arguably played some of their most prolific shows on the East Coast, as strange is it may seem. Those spectacular primal billings at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East entering the 1970s, “the best show that almost didn’t happen” in May of 1977 at Boston Garden, Clarence Clements… Continue reading Jerry Garcia Band | GarciaLive Volume 11 | Review
When Uncle Billy has his hat on, you know you are in for a heater… Saturday night delivered just that at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA The Dead faithful showed up in the usual fashion to the home of Tom Brady. It was 36 years to the day since the first SPAC Grateful Dead concert on June 18, 1983. The anniversary seems to have gone mostly unnoticed by most attendees at the June 18, 2019, SPAC Dead & Company concert. The tour faithful seem to have the philosophy of living in the moment. Those of us… Continue reading Dead & Company | SPAC | 6/18/19
On June 15th, Lettuce grooved on into Morrison, Colorado for their 4th annual “Rage on the Rocks” show at Red Rocks Amphitheater. The Soul Rebels started off the evening with an energy packed set full of all the vibes needed to set the mood for a fantastic night. One of my absolute favorite jam bands… Continue reading 'Rage Rocks' | Red Rocks Amphitheater | 6/15/19
