Fans at the Nashua Center for the Arts were treated to a surprise collaboration on Sunday night as Gator, the high-energy drummer from Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, joined forces with Spafford during the band’s first set finale, a blistering cover of JJ Grey & Mofro’s “On Fire.”

The sit-in capped a dynamic first set and merged Spafford’s exploratory improvisation with Gator’s funk-forward flair. Known for his precise chops and infectious energy, Gator elevated the swampy Southern soul tune into a standout highlight of the evening.
Spafford continues their Summer tour across the Northeast with upcoming stops in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, before heading South to the Carolinas and Georgia in July.
