Eric Maring’s 5th album release, The Year of Seeing Clearly was created during the 2020-21 pandemic era drawing largely from songs written and performed for Saturday evening livestreams with his sons Leo and Julian. Recorded remotely in Maryland and Colorado, the band features 2 generations of Marings along with drummer Steve Fox (longtime collaborator and childhood friend) and bassist Dan Griffin to deliver heartfelt, cross-generational musicianship.  

bLOW, the new album from blues singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer Colin Linden will be released September 17, 2021 (on Highway 20/Thirty Tigers).  bLOW is the first release on Lucinda Williams’ imprint Highway 20 and embodies the powerful blues-meets-rock-meets-roots style Linden has crafted over his illustrious 45-year career, which set its course following a fateful meeting with Howlin’ Wolf at age 11. The opening track “4 Cars” is available on all DSP’s today.

Fifty years ago, Roberta Flack released her third studio album, Quiet Fire, just six months after Marvin Gaye’s groundbreaking masterpiece, What’s Going On came out in May 1971. At the time, the nation’s emotions were heated and raw with the Vietnam War raging and the Civil Rights movement bringing racial injustice, societal inequality and the ugly truth behind police brutality to the forefront of the American consciousness.    

It is a sad and tragic fact that those with albinism living in East Africa are persecuted and literally hunted, based on the belief that their body parts can transmit magical powers and that they are in some way demonic”. Because of this prejudice and hate they are regularly dismembered— often while still alive— or killed, which has led most to understandably live in fear. Estimates are that over one-hundred Tanzanians with albinism have been murdered in the past decade, many of them children.

On May 28, the long-awaited and highly anticipated release of T.A. Clayton & The Soulminers’ most recent EP, Young Again, was shared with the world.

The five-track project is the first music we’ve heard from the group since 2019 when they released their debut album Shortcomings.

The veteran rock band WAR, which formed back in 1969, brought a live show to an appreciative audience in Ventura, California. The May 29th show was part of the Concerts In Your Car series at the Ventura fairgrounds. War is a musical crossover band that fuses rock, funk, jazz, Latin, rhythm and blues, psychedelia, and reggae.

Classic rockers/blues rock trailblazers Ten Years After will soon be performing for fans throughout the world once more, via a livestream event. Entitled “Blue Crossroads,” the event includes three performances by different artists, Ten Years After on June 17th, Marcus Bonfanti Electric Band on July 1st, and Jawbone on July 15th.

Americana quartet Lake & Lyndale have been paving a path of their own. The group (singer Channing Marie, guitarist Jonathan Krentz, bassist Eric Clifford, and drummer Tyler Kloewer) moved to Nashville a few years back from MN, where their name comes from. The band, noted for live shows and acclaimed singles, “There’s a Weight” and “Still Here” found themselves limited like everyone in the pandemic; kept both offstage and out of their usual studio.
