Son of the Velvet Rat is the solo musical endeavor and masked identity of Georg Altziebler and his wife, Heike Binder. In 2013 the duo left their hometown of Graz, Austria for the endless highways of America, finally settling along the edge of California’s Mojave Desert, in Joshua Tree. Their new album, Solitary Company, will debut internationally on March 19, 2021, released in the U.S. by tastemaker indie Fluff & Gravy Records.

Country-folk artist Spencer Burton has officially released a new single titled “Hard Times” following the announcement of fifth studio album Coyote, and first via Still Records, out on February 19, 2021. Premiered by Glide Magazine, “Burton offers an achingly tender wail that features Gram Parsons’ desert harmonies mixed with the contemplative twang of Jason Molina. From the crackling onset, there is a lonesome prairie sound that rises, making Burton a foremost story-teller.”

Jealous of the Birds – the musical project of Northern Ireland-based singer-songwriter Naomi Hamilton – shares a new lyric video created by Juliet Bryant (The Japanese House, MICHELLE)  for “Pendulum.” The track is from the latest LP Peninsula, which came out September 18th, 2020 via Canvasback/Atlantic.

The legendary Tom Jones recently shared his cover of Todd Snider’s “Talking Reality Television Blues” which you can listen to here.

The song was first released on Snider’s critically acclaimed album Cash Cabin Sessions Vol. 3 which came out in 2019, and Jones’ cover will appearing on an album he has coming this Spring.
