Today, NYC-based psychedelic pop-soul septet Melt released a new single, Hours. The ruminative ballad is the third offering from the band’s debut EP, set to be released next month. The East Nashville-based singer/songwriter Matt Urmy muses on the duality of the human experience today with the release of his new concept album ‘South of the Sky.’ Inspired by Willie Nelson’s two-sided narrative album ‘Phases and Stages,’ Urmy’s ‘South of the Sky’ attempts to explore and celebrate the multi-dimensionality of human life.

“Somewhere in trying to figure out how to craft a good song, I figured out how not to just write a pile of sad songs,” Nashville-based singer-songwriter Nate Fredrick says about his new album, Different Shade of Blue, set for February 26 release. “It’s not that my situation is different or even better, but I’ve found a different way to perceive my personal circumstances.”

This past August, months into the COVID-19 lockdown, the Brooklyn-based musician Ana Egge heard from her friend, producer/songwriter Dick Connette, about collaborating on a song concerning the ongoing social upheaval. “I jumped in with both feet after our first conversation,” Egge explains. For her, it was an important way to use music to bring people together.

Chad Hollister, Ryan Montbleau, members of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and more will take part in VT Sounds, A Bash to Bring Back Vermont Music, a streaming concert to keep music alive in Vermont. All proceeds will go to the New England Musicians Relief Fund (NEMRF), an organization that provides grants to working musicians facing financial difficulties. VT Sounds will be broadcast from ZenBarn on Friday, January 22 at 8:00 PM EST. Anyone can watch the show on the Facebook and Youtube pages of Zenbarn and the NEMRF.

Folk singer-songwriter Cole Scheifele has released his latest single “All The While” on January 14. Premiering in The Bluegrass Situation, the song is about living in the present moment and focusing on things that invigorate your life while you still have the opportunity - a mindset we could all use given this year’s events.
