Dark Star Orchestra

Greetings fellow Deadheads, family, friends and all ~

A recent injury left Dark Star Orchestra musician Rob Eaton with a fractured ulna and radius in his left wrist. He currently is keeping these bones all together with pins, screws and a plate.

With guitar playing still on the horizon, Rob is expected to make a full recovery and return to the stage with DSO in the near future.

But I am very glad to finally be looking at 2020 in the rear-view mirror! It has been interesting seeing how different artists have been coping with the pandemic and related restrictions. I have, like everyone of course, had to cancel and reschedule a number of shows and scaled waaaaaay back on touring. Fortunately, I had been working on my Solo Acousti’Lectric show pre-covid and have been able to hang in there doing occasional outdoor events and extremely reduced-capacity indoor events.

Today, music fans can tune in for the first time to The Music Plays the Band podcast from Dark Star Orchestra Drummer Rob Koritz.

This will be the first time Rob Eaton & John Kadlecik have played together since John K left Dark Star Orchestra to play with Furthur in Fall 2009!

We hung in there as long as we could, but It looks like Covid-19 is going to have its way this year.  Dark Star Orchestra and All Good Presents have faced many storms, but like the rest of the world, we have never experienced anything like this before.  Unfortunately, we have to reschedule the Dark Star Jubilee for 2021, but in the spirit of delivering the 9th edition of The Jubilee as it was meant to be, we are thrilled and grateful that most of the bands have already committed to making the move with us.

It seems that Mother Nature wants to correct herself and we are in the way.  Dark Star Orchestra has battled many thunderstorms, snowstorms, illnesses, broken down trucks and buses but like you, we have never experienced anything like this before.  As firm believers in the “Show Must Go On” we have only canceled a handful of 2,981 shows over 22 years.  In the last two weeks, we’ve postponed 13 shows and there may be more to come.  Fortunately, we have been able to reschedule 12 of these shows, please see below for all pertinent rescheduling information.
