Leftover Salmon banjo player Andy Thorn never expected to go viral. But in 2021, he was in his backyard, playing an improvised banjo tune to a wild fox, when his wife caught the whole thing on video. The video made headlines around the world. Soon, Andy was interviewed on the Kelly Clarkson Show, The Dodo, and A & E’s Neighborhood Wars. Even Political Gabfest discussed the video. A New York Times writer, Ferris Jabr, called it “a moment plucked from Aesop.”

On October 8th and 9th, incredible music and breathtaking caves come together to create the first-ever CaveFest. Featuring headlining acts Sam Bush, Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Yonder Mountain String Band the inaugural festival will take full advantage of what The Caverns has to offer above and below ground.

The full lineup for the 2nd annual Kaw River Roots Festival has been released to the public. Legendary artists Leftover Salmon and Grammy award winners, The Infamous Stringdusters will be headlining. Additional performers include Fireside Collective, Kyle Tuttle's All Stars, The Jon Stickley Trio, Daniel Donato, Opal Agafia, Chain Station, Pretend Friend, Sky Smeed, Lily B Moonflower, The Matchsellers, Jake Keegan Band, Tyler Gregory, Jenna & Martin, and Megan Luttrell.

Leftover Salmon, the Lil Smokies, and Dead Winter Carpenters provided the bluegrass and Phil Lesh & Friends fueled the “beyond” at the inaugural, one-day Bluegrass and Beyond festival in Stateline, Nevada, at Lake Tahoe.

Few bands stick around for thirty years. Even fewer bands leave a legacy during that time that marks them as a truly special, once-in-lifetime type band. And no band has done all that and had as much fun as Leftover Salmon.

July 19 UPDATE: Following a recent mild case of COVID-19 that kept Phil Lesh from performing with The String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on July 17, it has now been confirmed that Phil Lesh & Friends will indeed deliver a headlining performance Friday, July 22 at the single-day Bluegrass and Beyond Festival at Lake Tahoe.

First performance together since both bands (The String Cheese Incident + Leftover Salmon) have been inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in the Official Class of 2021.

These words are the mission statement of Leftover Salmon as they have inspired and helped pave the way for many bands to break free of traditional bluegrass and explore the genre in a more contemporary direction. As a fan, photographer, and writer it seems the band's intentions are simply this - we will melt your face, open your mind and heart with artistic expression, and spread as much love and positivity as we can in the process.

Phil Lesh & Friends will deliver on Friday, July 22, a headlining performance to what promises to be a dandy of a single-day Bluegrass and Beyond Festival at world-famous Lake Tahoe, which straddles the borders of California and Nevada. Attendees at the general admission fest will be serenaded by 10 free-spirited bands on two stages at the Hard Rock Outdoor Area, adjacent to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe (https://bluegrassbeyond.com).

Providing an anchor of stability and a backbone behind the rhythm, bassist Keith Moseley of The String Cheese Incident is no stranger to the blending eclectic sounds and unifying them within the musical soundscape. Pioneering one of Colorado’s most influential jam bands, Keith has been the steady driving force behind the successful 25+ year career of SCI.
