The Stone Pony Summer Stage is back for the 2024 season and hosted Joe Russo's Almost Dead for a raging two-set heater on May 17, 2024, that featured a full set with friend and frequent collaborator, multi-instrumentalist Stuart Bogie. The band honored their Garden State roots, as eighty percent of the quintet are originally from New Jersey, with two tasty tunes by Bruce Springsteen along with their slate of Grateful Dead covers.
The Newport Jazz Festival just announced that tickets will go on sale and the lineup will drop for the 2024 festival (August 2-4) on April 9th at 1PM Eastern, which has this East Coast mama reminiscing of all my favorite moments from last year! After having finally experienced the longest-running jazz festival in the country last year, it quickly made its way to the top of my ever-expanding list of favorite summer fests.
Joe Russo's Almost Dead returned to the famed Capitol Theatre on January 12, 2024, for another legendary run of their own, and their twenty-sixth show at the Port Chester, NY-based venue. The Billy and the Kids “Dead on the Water: Pier to Pier” concert series wrapped up on Friday night with their appearance at the rooftop venue Pier 17 in New York City. Overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge, Pier 17’s location has a rich history dating back to the Dutch West India Company in 1625, the venue and surrounding area underwent major reconstruction in the 2010s and reopened to the public in 2018.
One of the greatest venues in Manhattan is the seasonal Pier 17 Rooftop. Located on the water in the Financial District, this venue boasts stunning views of Midtown behind the stage. Seeing one of your favorite bands there is truly special, and that was certainly the case for New York City's own Joe Russo's Almost Dead. This all-star quintet and Grateful Dead cover band delivered two incredible sets before Mother Nature intervened.
Inspired by the sheer excitement and thrill experienced during the New Orleans Jazz Fest, the indomitable Bill Kreutzmann has announced his intentions to reconvene 'Billy & The Kids' for two special shows this summer. Kreutzmann's legendary drumming helped power the Grateful Dead for their entire thirty-year career, and his dynamic group 'Billy & The Kids' continue to spread the Dead's musical legacy with a fresh and vibrant voice.
Thursday nights are often the start of the weekend, in New Orleans some say the weekend never stops, and that proved true for the Fleur De Dead show at the Saenger Theatre on April 28th. With a setlist that complemented with the forthcoming weeks of Jazz Fest in Nola, a great mix of musicians, and fresh incoming concert-goers from all over-- Fleur De Dead delivered a jam that met audience enthusiasm with grooving frenetic joy.
