Bull City Summit (BCS), the new U.S. showcase festival and conference celebrating innovation in Music, Arts, Science, and Technology, returns September 18-24 throughout downtown Durham, North Carolina, and is pleased to announce the first round of support artists for BCS headline shows at Motorco Music Hall.

The Renasant Convention Center was packed with blues musicians, fans, and music-world luminaries on May 11th, anxious to see who would be the winners at the 44th Annual Blues Music Awards. Besides awarding honors in 25 categories, the BMAs, as is its tradition, featured performances from many nominees, with the gala ending in a jubilant all-star jam.

The dynamic music lineup for ShipRocked 2024 will be led by I Prevail and will also feature Killswitch Engage, Beartooth, Highly Suspect, Code Orange, Badflower, a special solo performance from Johnny Stevens of Highly Suspect and more February 4-10, 2024 onboard Carnival Magic. The 14th sailing of ShipRocked departs from Miami, Florida, stopping in three new ports for the ultimate rock music cruise vacation: Bimini, The Bahamas; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; and Grand Cayman.

Last month, I had the sublime pleasure of listening to free live music with local jazz trio Dave Corbus Essence while gazing upon local artist Tabitha Benedict’s Waking the Tiger, at R Gallery + Wine Bar in Boulder. Between the Band’s delectable notes and that mesmerizing feline’s steadfast gaze, you may feel riveted to your seat. Denver, Colorado-based guitarist, singer, and songwriter DJ Williams emerges as a commanding force with his latest single, "Black Man." It’s been a few decades or more since I’ve heard anyone nail Taj Mahal’s “Cakewalk Into Town,” but I had the supreme pleasure of just that when I sat down to listen to Boulder’s one and only Voodoo Lily play at the beautiful St Julien, last month. An eclectic blend of Gypsy Jazz, New Orleans Blues and more, Voodoo packs passion and fun into their music as evidenced by all the smiling dancing couples, and kids joyfully bouncing around the room like pogo sticks! Boulder’s band Desolation Angels played last weekend at the Emerge 5K race. As with all free, live outdoor music, the audience was mainly immersed in their own conversation when the band began to play. With just the first two sung words, everyone went quiet. That tends to happen when you’re in the presence of a raw gift. Their youthful talent filled the stage with unmarred exuberance.. Their youthful exuberance filled the stage with untouched talent, as they literally rocked the crowd.

The Westport Library, located in southwest Connecticut and serving New England and the tri-state area, has been touted as one of the coolest and most innovative libraries in the country from musicians and industry professionals alike. It was honored with a 5-star rating from Public Library Service’s 2022 Library Journal Index — distinguishing it as one of the top 2% libraries in the nation.

Today, supergroup The Baseball Project has announced their fourth studio album Grand Salami Time!, due out June 30 via Omnivore Recordings. Made up of Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate), former R.E.M. members Peter Buck and Mike Mills, along with Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5/Young Fresh Fellows) and Linda Pitmon (Filthy Friends, Alejandro Escovedo), the band has also shared their jangly new single “Journeyman.”

Today, the internationally acclaimed, Raleigh-based alt band The Connells released their live album Set The Stage. This is the first official live record in the group’s 37 year history. The album is currently available for download / purchase here.
