Baaba Maal’s [BA-ba Marl] daring and dazzling new album, Being has received praise and attention around the world. When it was announced at the beginning of 2023, “Yerimayo Celebration” became the rousing first glimpse from the record. Its melding of traditional African sounds and imagery with Johan Karlberg’s digital experimentation producing a call and response between ancient and modern, set the tone for Being.
Senegalese singer Baaba Maal [BA-ba Marl] sat down with NPR's All Things Considered to talk about his latest work on the Black Panther franchise, honoring the late Chadwick Boseman, and the meaning of his new single "Yerimayo Celebration." The single is from Baaba Maal’s daring and dazzling new album, ‘Being’, will be released on March 31st, 2023.
