Black Pumas

The more diverse music one has experienced, the better idea one has in forming a complete definition of music… Cultural expression and learning operate within a boundary. Diversity comes from outside of this boundary and leads to more learning, which enriches cultural expression...”  - C. Victor Fung | The Role of Musical Diversity in Redefining Music: Towards Rich and Meaningful Life Experiences

Music is a fluid phenomenon. It consistently transcends, embodies, and actualizes, throughout the differential matter of time and space.

The Maple House Festival completed its inaugural presentation in a large retired livestock pasture on the verdant rolling hills of the Hartwood Acres Park in Pittsburgh PA. It was no coincidence that the festival was also a Parks Foundation benefit. The beautiful park area flanked by maple trees is, in other moments, a pleasant spot for a summer hike, picnic,  or horse ride.  It is also home to free summer concerts offered by the city, in a more casual setup.

Sheryl Crow gets it – the beach life, that is. “All I wanna do is have some fun, until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard,” Crow sang on Sunday during a twilight set on the sand at Redondo Beach, just 15 miles south of the oceanfront Santa Monica Pier. One of the BeachLife Festival’s high-profile performers who first made waves toward prominence in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, Crow shared top billing with Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots, 311, and the Steve Miller Band (who’s first hit was in 1968).
