Buckethead is an American guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist best known for his virtuosic playing, genre-defying output, and unmistakable stage persona featuring a KFC bucket and theatrical mask. Born Brian Patrick Carroll in 1969, Buckethead has built one of the most prolific and unconventional careers in modern music.
His work spans experimental rock, metal, funk, ambient, avant-garde, and film-score-like compositions, often blending lightning-fast shredding with melodic sensitivity and atmospheric textures. In addition to extensive solo work, Buckethead has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Guns N’ Roses, Primus, Bootsy Collins, and Les Claypool, among many others.
Buckethead is especially known for his Pikes series — an ongoing collection of hundreds of independently released albums that showcase his improvisational approach and constant creative evolution. Whether performing solo, collaborating, or releasing music at a relentless pace, Buckethead remains a singular figure whose mystery, discipline, and musical imagination continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
