David Ferguson, the man who for 40+ years has always been behind the scenes making magic in the studio for other people, gifted music fans and musical history buffs alike with his debut album Nashville No More in September of 2021. On the evening of June 23, 1964, a red Volkswagen Beetle bearing three blues enthusiasts arrived in Rochester, N.Y. The young men were following a trail of clues in their search of a legend, and they found him sitting on the steps of an apartment building at 61 Greig Street.

“This is him,” Son House said.

On May 7th, Smoke from the Chimney, a nine-song album of never-before-heard Tony Joe White tunes, will be released on Easy Eye Sound.

“Don’t Walk Away” is the debut single from The Heavy Hours. The song is reminiscent of a classic, pop rock group. Their video’s first shot is of the band’s name on the drum kit which pans out to the Cincinnati quartet playing on stage. The Beatles preforming on The Ed Sullivan Show or American Bandstand with Dick Clark comes to mind even though those images are way before my time. The band members are long-time friends but they could be brothers.

“Don’t Walk Away” heralds the arrival of Cincinnati quartet The Heavy Hours. The extraordinary song was co-written with Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach and produced by Simone Felice (The Lumineers, Jade Bird, Matt Maeson) and produced and mixed by David Baron in the Catskill Mountains. The song, released through S-Curve/BMG, is available for streaming and download here.

Today artists including Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Brothers Osborne, Dan Auerbach, Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Sheryl Crow, Soccer Mommy, and Yola, announced they will be performing at “To Nashville, With Love,” a charity benefit concert to raise money for the people of Nashville, whose homes and lives were devastated by the recent tornado. Hosted on March 9 at Marathon Music Works. Tickets on sale now, priced at $75.

Legendary country artist John Anderson returns with his new album Years, to be released April 10 on Easy Eye Sound (pre-order).

Marcus King today shared a new song “Beautiful Stranger.” Timeless vintage soul with shimmering steel and haunting gospel harmonies, the song features Marcus’ rasping vocals which take centre stage on his solo debut record, El Dorado. The release has established him as one of the most soulful voices of his generation and is set to be his most critically acclaimed yet. El Dorado, produced by Dan Auerbach will be released next week on Fantasy Records, on Jan 17 2020.
