Dark Star Jubilee

Today, the torch-bearing Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra announces the lineup for their ninth annual Dark Star Jubilee music festival. Produced by All Good Presents, the event was created as a band-curated continuation of the ongoing celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead, the Dark Star Jubilee has become a Midwest tradition for kicking off the summer season with three-nights of music, camping and community.

Nearly a year after the COVID-19 pandemic paused all live music events indefinitely, the music ecosystem continues to retool and reform around the nature of the virus. As the Grateful Dead live music scene has adapted over time, torchbearers of the music Dark Star Orchestra, carry on with modified plans for their Dark Star Jubilee festival weekend originally planned for May 28 - 30 at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio.

We hung in there as long as we could, but It looks like Covid-19 is going to have its way this year.  Dark Star Orchestra and All Good Presents have faced many storms, but like the rest of the world, we have never experienced anything like this before.  Unfortunately, we have to reschedule the Dark Star Jubilee for 2021, but in the spirit of delivering the 9th edition of The Jubilee as it was meant to be, we are thrilled and grateful that most of the bands have already committed to making the move with us. 

Known for their lifelike recreations of historic Grateful Dead recreations, perennial touring juggernaut Dark Star Orchestra today announces dates for their 9th annual Dark Star Jubilee festival. Happening May 22-24, 2020 at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio, DSO will headline all three nights of the event and additional festival acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Pisgah Brewing Company and All Good Presents today announce the debut of Dark Star's Pisgah Jubilee, an expansive weekend with two stages of music, special VIP packages and beer offerings, local food and vendors and more. Featuring two nights and four sets of Dark Star Orchestra with special guests Peter Rowan, Midnight North, California Kind, The Lil Smokies, Josh Phillips Feels Good, Captain Midnight Band, Campfire Reverends and The Snozzberries.  On Friday, August 16, DSO will recreate the 5/3/79 show from Charlotte Coliseum 40 years later.

Fresh off their seventh Jam in the Sand Festival on the beaches of Jamaica, Dark Star Orchestra today announces the second leg of their Spring Tour. The band continues their spot-on Grateful Dead set recreations this May with a pair of multiple night stands while focusing on the Northeast.

Eclipsing 2850 live performances on their recent Fall Tour, Dark Star Orchestra has announced another slew of dates for 2019. Focusing on the American Southeast, the tour has the band performing five shows in Florida before weaving north and hitting key spots in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina & Alabama. The spring tour punctuates the band’s 2019 plans even further.

Dark Star Orchestra is holding their seventh annual Dark Star Jubilee festival this coming Memorial Day May 25-27 at the venue which is now known as Legend Valley, in Thornville, Ohio. Back in 1993, it was known as Buckeye Lake Music Center, and on June 11, the Grateful Dead rolled into town. Nearly 25 years to the date, and at the same location, Dark Star Orchestra will be recreating the original band’s historic set during one of the night at The Jubilee in a rare, advanced announcement for the band to confirm a show they’re playing.

It is my honor to be writing to you all again about the wonder and beautiful sight that is Dark Star Jubilee. However, this year I write to you with feelings of pure joy and love that come from this festival but also a heavy heart. Dark Star Orchestra has had a tough week, as they face a possibly career-changing event. But more about that later, let’s talk about the joyful, blissful, wonderful, paradise event for friends and family that was Dark Star Jubilee.
