Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

This past weekend, Phish took their twelfth run at their annual Labor Day summer tour closer, delivering four nights of fun at the famed Dick’s Sporting Goods Park outside of Denver. With the exception of Thursday night, which was still very packed, the band played to sold-out crowds, 27,000 people turning out to celebrate the Jesters of Jam and the shared experience once again.

The Mimi Fishman Foundation is once again hosting a WaterWheel Foundation on-line charity auction. The auction features tickets for Phish’s 2023 Dick's Sporting Goods Park Run. The auction is now available for bidding and comes to a conclusion May 25, 2023

For many, Labor Day weekend always means a three-day weekend for the hard working, but for the jamband community, it always means Phish is going to blow minds and melt faces just outside the Mile High City. Although this staple has been reenacted now eleven times since 2011, this year got a little something extra: a fourth night. This attribute is something phans have been rumoring, wishing, begging, and pleading for on message boards and in conversation for quite some time and 2022 was finally the year the dream came true.

Phish just wrapped up their annual three-night run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park just north of Denver. Playing to near capacity audiences, the jam band jesters brought out the goods in spades with a combinations of bust outs, covers, and some serious jams. This year also marked the ten-year anniversary since JEMP began playing the venue and the love for Dick’s, as evidenced by the weekend, still remains.

There may be no band that has been more critically analyzed song by song and show by show than Phish. Phish phans are some of the most attuned and astute musical analysts in the music scene. Since my first show in December of 1996 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia to my 197th show at the closing of this summer tour at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, I have seen and heard such vastly differing opinions about nearly every show.

Type I: “I highly recommend getting this show. It blows night one out of the water. Man, now I can't wait for tomorrow after that display.” - Red

Type II: “Not bad 3 day run. expected way more from the boys knowing the 2012 shows were epic. Highlights: Sand, Piper, Chalkdust, legalize it, divided sky, moma dance. other than that tho average shows.” – dude
