Hot Buttered Rum

Despite two evenings devastated by severe thunderstorms and even hail, the 2008 Wakarusa Festival held at Clinton Lake, Kansas powered through it all and still provided its attendees a great weekend of music, camping, and all around good times.

I arrived in the small town of Wilkesboro, North Carolina on Saturday morning.  Wilkesboro is not the type of town you really notice or generally have any cause to stop in.  In some many ways the town's 10,000 or so residents probably prefer it that way, you don't live in this kind of town if you like hearing your neighbor's TV at night.  But last weekend was a weekend that you did want to pull off the highway, because just a few miles off the highway the country's top bluegrass and folk talents gathered to an adoring crowd

The state of Colorado can already boast two major bluegrass festivals, those being the world renowned Telluride Bluegrass and its spectacular younger cousin Rockygrass.  Well, a third of such would be the Yarmony Grass Music Festival, a bluegrass-featured gathering nestled deep in the Rocky Mountains.

The Grateful Web and the WOW Hall teamed up to provide a live video webcast of Hot Buttered Rum's Nov.

In the Fall of 2006, itching to release their first live album, Hot Buttered Rum announced that it would be recording a handful of shows for official release.  Live in the Northeast (released May 2007) beautifully reveals the true core of live Butter: music that is forceful without being flashy, serious without being stuffy, intricate without being inaccessible, and diverse without being distracting.  The performances were professionally multi-tracked and later carefully mixed by Butter's long-time sound engineer, Josh Osmond.
