Lowell Folk Festival

The 2023 Lowell Folk Festival in Lowell, Massachusetts, hosts its 36th annual event Friday, July 28th through Sunday, July 30th, with music, traditional crafts and foods that span the globe. This free 3-day celebration presents world-class musicians playing folk music from different cultures and traditional craft artists with their apprentices, giving festival-goers an opportunity to experience the remarkable diversity of the arts.

Seven additional musical acts who will be on stage at the 2023 Lowell Folk Festival Friday, July 28th through Sunday, July 30th, were announced today by Festival organizers.  Music that spans the globe, from the Carpathian Mountains to the Louisiana Bayou, Afghanistan to the Iberian Peninsula and places in-between, will fill the air in the Mill City for this free 3-day celebration of Folk Arts and Culture from around the world.

The Lowell Folk Festival, one of the longest running free folk festivals in the country, announced the first nine performers coming to the mill city for 3 days of music, dance, crafts, food, and family fun Friday, July 28th through Sunday, July 30th.

Instrument makers from around New England will be front and center at this year’s Lowell Folk Festival celebrating the art & craft that goes into making the unique sounds that come from the Festival’s world class musical performers.  Known for its eclectic blend of music, food and art, the 35th Anniversary of the Lowell Folk Festival returns in person July 29-31.

With a musical lineup of acts from around the world, the festival will once again renew its rich history in showcasing the many tastes of Lowell’s diverse communities. This year’s festival will feature 18 ethnic food stands operated by local non-profit community groups, each offering a different traditional cuisine that showcases their heritage.

The Lowell Folk Festival announced the latest round of talented musicians from across the country that will grace four stages during the 2022 Lowell Folk Festival. Celebrating its 35th Anniversary July 29-31, the free 2022 Lowell Folk Festival promises to continue its rich history of showcasing a diverse mix of musical styles from regions across the country. The eclectic group includes Grammy winning Polka artists, masters of Memphis Soul, and a Creole party that will have everyone dancing.

Today the Lowell Folk Festival’s producing partners announced that legendary Irish group Cherish the Ladies and the Afro-Puerto Rican icons Los Pleneros de la 21 are among first six artists confirmed for the 2022 festival, taking place July 29-31.   Celebrating its 35th Anniversary this summer, the 2022 Lowell Folk Festival promises to continue its rich history of showcasing a diverse and eclectic mix of musical styles from regions across the country.

Today, the Lowell Festival Foundation announced that the 35th Anniversary Lowell Folk Festival, a staple cultural event of the region since its inception in 1987, will take place in person on July 29, 30, and 31. The 2022 festival will feature close to 20 performing groups sharing their unique musical traditions on stages throughout downtown Lowell. The Lowell Folk Festival attracts more than 150,000 people for three days of music, food, and art.
