With his latest album Copeland explores the band’s best-known tracks through a new lens, inspired by his recent forays into expansive musical forms and instrumentation.
Forty-six years after he came out of Newcastle, England, with mates Andy Summers and Steward Copeland to form The Police, Sting delivered on April 12 a triumphant performance of Police songs and Sting solo material at the intimate and classy, 2,500-capacity Hard Rock Live venue, 35 miles north of Sacramento.

Originally released on March 1, 1993, the album title is a somewhat tongue-in-cheek mashup of the artist’s given surname, Sumner, and a character in Geoffrey Chaucer’s 15th-century literary classic The Canterbury Tales, the summoner.

He is universally recognized for founding, songwriting and playing drums in the band The Police and for that we are eternally grateful. Copeland is firmly regarded as one of the best drummers in history and his playing style is clearly distinct and recognized in many musical genres.
