The Wood Brothers

The Wood Brothers | American Heartache | Morrison, CO | 7/30/17

The Nashville-based Wood Brothers are adroit practitioners of a timeless, exhilarating art. Like the mythical F.S. Walcott Rabbit’s Foot Minstrels, the Wood Brothers travel backroads and alleyways, opening hidden doors to magic places where music cures any disquieting ailment. Their authentic, American blend of blues, country, rock, gospel and R&B serves a satisfying account of the nation’s complex twisting of cultural roots.

The Wood Brothers announce that they'll join the third installment of Tedeschi Trucks Band' wildly popular "Wheels of Soul" Summer Tour. They'll support the 12-piece ensemble, led by husband and wife Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, along with longtime friends Hot Tuna.  The tour is scheduled to hit some of the country's premier outdoor venues on the most ambitious Wheels of Soul tour to date.

In a career chock full of highlights, The Wood Brothers hold a special place in their hearts for their performances at Levon Helm's legendary Midnight Ramble. As repeat special guests at Helm's famed Woodstock barn, the trio—guitarist Oliver Wood, bassist Chris Wood, and drummer Jano Rix—developed a cherished friendship with the late icon that transcended simple musical collaboration and left an indelible mark on their songs and their lives.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park makes the announcement that The Wood Brothers will not appear at the Suwannee Roots Revival on Friday, October 14 due to an ongoing medical emergency with one of the band members. Everyone is stable and we hope to have more news soon.

The Wood Brothers have announced February and March 2017 tour dates. The three-piece, Nashville-based roots and Americana unit, comprised of Oliver and Chris Wood and Jano Rix, begin a U.S.

I have a moleskine book I keep in my pocket at concerts. My wife gave it to me as a gift years ago. She always gives the best gifts. This tattered little vestige to my musical history is used solely for notes at concerts I am reviewing. Nothing could better embody who I am, not just as a writer, but as a person. Every time I write in the book, it is a process. I have to take the now stretched out elastic rope off of the book, turn to the page marked with the connected bookmark and pick up where I left off.

The big news over the weekend at the 15th installment of Floydfest was the unfortunate hospitalization and subsequent cancellation of headliner Gregg Allman’s Saturday night set.  But in true Floydfest fashion, the excellent talent evaluators of this year’s five-day festival, dubbed “Dreamweavin’,” had just the type of jam-band superheroes onsite to put together a dream replacement set.

The Wood Brothers have announced Fall 2016 tour dates. The 16-show headline run includes a trek through the Southeast beginning in Birmingham and making stops in Atlanta, Charleston and Charlotte, before wrapping at Suwannee Roots Revival in Live Oak, Florida.
