Trumpeter, composer and multi-instrumentalist Darren Barrett has released a new album Live and Direct: Dee’s Theme. Released on all streaming services on December 10th, 2021 on his dB Studios label. This eight-track collection seven written by Barrett and one by Walden are a collection of some previous recorded tracks from his First One Up studio recording project along with a few new ones. Vermont Jazz Center pays homage to the big band era this season, uniting our in-house big band with critically acclaimed singer Amanda Carr. Carr became acquainted with the Great American Songbook through her parents who were both professional big band musicians in the Boston area. Carr has recorded in the U.S. and abroad, including Australia, England and Italy where she appeared as a headline artist at EuroJazz Festival.

The Jersey City Jazz Festival is back for a special 2021 edition on Saturday, September 25 in the Powerhouse Arts District. The free-to-the-public annual event will feature eight bands on two stages, food trucks, a full bar, and a VIP experience from noon - 8pm at the 107 Morgan Street lot in Jersey City. The event is produced by Riverview Jazz and presented by Exchange Place Alliance.
