GW: Congrats on the recent sold-out New Year's show in Boulder - you guys seem to be building up a loyal following in Colorado. Is CO the home base for the Gasoline Lollipops then? How was the show?

Most people are aware of the fact that The Wailers are a reggae band that was at one point led by the greatest reggae artist of all-time, Bob Marley. After his passing in 1981, the band decided to spread his messages and continue to inspire people in his honor. Thank goodness that they prevailed, and the band founded by Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Livingston lives on. Bassist, Aston “Family Man” Barrett, has been a constant in the band from the beginning with Marley to the present, and he even added his son, Aston Barrett Jr. to play drums currently.

On January 17th, Kathryn Colina will release her debut EP, Recovery, a collection of six songs recorded by the Nashville-based singer following a harrowing car accident, a flirtation with a prescription pill addiction and, ultimately a full recovery from a life-altering event. The six songs were written by Colina and produced by Kevin Leach AKA Sonic Pilot (The Lumineers, ABC’s Nashville) and engineered by Nathan Dantzler (Niall Horan, Hey Violet.) The six songs vary in style, some lean more Americana and some more pop-influenced. Grateful Web had the chance to sit down with Colina just a few weeks ahead of the EP's release to get to know the new and promising artist.

Dream Train was a very special album to make. I was fortunate to have some amazing special guests to contribute to the record: Walter Trout, Debbie Davies, and Mike Zito all played brilliant guitar solos on the album. We also brought in David Z (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy) to produce.

When Greg Klyma sings, “paid my dues,” you believe him. He’s been writing songs for 30 years and touring for over 20 years, living out of his car for twelve of those. Along the way, he has played some festival stages (Blissfest, Moccasin Creek, Kerrville), opened for some famous people (Todd Snider, Lucy Kaplansky, Ramblin’ Jack), and recorded or played with friends (Anais Mitchell, Peter Case, and Gurf Morlix).

This track mixes roadhouse rock & roll and southern soul with a bluesy, backwoods stomp, chronicling the historic 2010 flood of the Cumberland River, which washed its way across many notable Nashville landmarks.

California based singer-songwriter Ismay has released "The Stones" the second single off of her debut LP, Songs of Sonoma. "The Stones" was inspired after meeting a nylon string guitar player, Rex, chronicling the magic of Sonoma Mountain through one of Rex's most prized possessions, stones. These Klamath River stones were only seen by a few and when shined with a special light, galaxies of stars appeared in the stones.

The Nashville-based Wood Brothers are adroit practitioners of a timeless, exhilarating art. Like the mythical F.S. Walcott Rabbit’s Foot Minstrels, the Wood Brothers travel backroads and alleyways, opening hidden doors to magic places where music cures any disquieting ailment. Their authentic, American blend of blues, country, rock, gospel and R&B serves a satisfying account of the nation’s complex twisting of cultural roots.

Pat Simmons Jr., an island-style musician from Maui, Hawaii, as well as a surfer, organic farmer, father, and cancer survivor, has released a music video for "Rust," a song off his award-nominated EP, This Mountain. Pat's music blends American folk-rock, country, blues, and reggae, and is flavored with a traditional Hawaiian influence.

Today we're premiering "Milk & Honey", the vibrant new video from Nashville-based, South African born artist Laura Reed. Filmed in North Carolina on the farm she grew up on, the video was directed and edited by Patrick Lincoln of Torch House Media.
