Kenneth Pattengale & Joey Ryan of Milk Carton Kids have great talent and passion behind their soulful guitar picking and melodramatic story telling.  Their songs remind you of a cool summer night relaxing under the stars while enjoying the company of your loved one. This duo has struck a chord with their “coming-of-age” bluegrass acoustic stream of melodies.

Some forty or so years ago in the Summer of Love, tens of thousands of Northern Californians – and soon after, many more Americans – changed their minds about certain aspects of American life.  They decided that spending their lives in the pursuit of fun and a higher wisdom would be preferable to an existence devoted exclusively to getting, spending, and serving corporations.  They decided that all of this would be best accompanied by music.

There was a buzz in the air of Boulder Colorado, October 9, 2010.  On the cool fall Saturday night, people were celebrating life, friendship, and the end of a very destructive fire that burned outside of Boulder early last month. Every day our cars and trucks guzzle an eye-popping 378 million gallons of gasoline, spewing millions of tons of global warming pollution into the air. This accounts for about 40 percent of U.S. oil consumption, with freight trucks adding another 14 percent.

Saving oil in transportation is crucial for reducing our perilous foreign energy dependence and addressing the climate challenge. Improving vehicle technology also would keep our domestic auto industry competitive in a world where fuel efficiency has become a significant advantage in the global marketplace.

As the dust settles and the road becomes steeper, Horning’s Hideout comes into view. “Happy Horning’s,” comes a chipper voice from my right.  My window is rolled down and I turn to see a girl standing on the side of the road. “Where should I park?” I ask her.

“Just keep driving,” she says with a devious smile. “You’ll find the way.”

I grinned and waved and continued down the rocky hill.

The Grateful Web was on-hand at this weekend's Phish shows up in Saratoga Springs, New York, taking pictures, videos, etc.  Last night's show was a big hitter, smoking Saturday night's show.  During 'Brother,' the Phish kiddos came on stage and jumped into a bathtub just in front of
