Steve Kimock embarks on his first major tour in three years, hitting markets across the Eastern seaboard and American Midwest this spring. To accompany him on stage for the tour, Kimock has hand-picked an all-star cast including Woo Wizard Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic, Talking Heads) on keys, Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow, David Lindley) on drums, and bassists Andy Hess (Gov't Mule, Black Crowes) and Reed Mathis (Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Tea Leaf Green).

Along the way, the band will be debuting some exciting new material as well as showcasing Kimock's extensive 30-year catalog. Think: the Guitar Monk Meets the Funk!

The duo of Steve Kimock and Billy Goodman will open a string of dates on the East Coast for Electric Hot Tuna at the end of June. Expect Kimock to also guest with Hot Tuna.

For tickets and info visit kimock.com or jormakaukonen.com. Steve Kimock will be leading workshops at Fur Peace Ranch on Sept 7-10. His workshops are already full (sold out). That same weekend Jorma and George Porter Jr will also be instructors, and they all will play a show Saturday, Sept 8th @ Fur Peace.

Matt Butler's Everyone Orchestra will release their studio debut, Brooklyn Sessions, on May 15 via Harmonized Records. On the album, Butler is joined by an all-star lineup of past collaborators and musical friends including drummer Jon Fishman (Phish), keyboardist/pianist Marco Benevento , Al Schnier (moe.), Jen Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), saxophonist Jeff Coffin (Dave Mathews Band), guitarist Steve Kimock , and bassist Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green), and more. The recording features 8 improvised, conducted songs recorded in-studio.

To celebrate this release, Everyone Orchestra will play a three night run in Denver @ Quixotes on June 15-17 with many of the players, including Kimock, who were part of the Brooklyn Sessions. "It's a sacred sandbox," says Butler. "The stage a sacred place to share the music. You're fully improvising, and the only preparation you can do is to be in the moment, the way an athlete is during a game. Not to withdraw into yourself, but to be engaged, to dodge and throw the ball." And Kimock loves it!

Steve Kimock, along with his band, will head to Japan this summer to play the infamous Fuji Rock Festival in Japan as a headlining artist on the Field of Heaven stage, July 28th. Other acts include Radiohead, The Stone Roses, Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop, Ernest Ranglin, Galactic, Jack White, Explosions in the Sky, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and many more.

Touring several times in Japan in the early 2000's and appearing at Fuji Rock in 2003, Kimock very much looks forward to returning to Japan.

After the tragic Tsunami last year, he recorded several pieces honoring Japan, including a video ode to Japan at the Relix offices in NYC and an impromptu "Love for Japan Jam" at an SK&F show in Sebastopol, CA on the night after the Tsunami. For more info visit Fuji Rock Festival.

“Satellite City” is the first single from Steve Kimock’s forthcoming (October 27th) album of the same name.  It will be available September 27th at ITunes and Amazon and of course at kimock.com. The tune sets Kimock’s splendid guitar against Leslie Mendelson’s beautiful voice in a beautifully mystical dream state, and it’s a wonderful choice in what will be a superb album.

Two years ago Steve spent a winter’s retreat in a barn with lots of acoustic guitars and an engineer making Last Danger of Frost.  He chose Leslie, his son John Morgan Kimock (drums) and Bobby Vega (bass) to make up the band that toured behind the release, and they found themselves inspired to write lots more songs, which gives us Satellite City.

Steve Kimock’s imaginative guitar work continues to evolve. For over forty years he’s crafted boundless music that captivates and expands consciousness.

KIMOCK is a project that began in January of 2017 with a group of improvisational veterans both family and old friends.

Steve and his gifted son John Morgan enlisted musical blood brother Bobby Vega alongside blooming collaborator Leslie Mendelson.

The band shattered preconceived notions based upon Kimock’s expansive previous compositional catalogue. A key factor in the shifting emphasis toward original lyrics and vocals was sparked by Steve and Leslie’s potent musical comradery.

KIMOCK’s many performances nationwide have captured the adoration of Steve’s extensive devoted fan base.

Grateful Web is pleased to premier a KIMOCK original, soon to be released on the group’s first studio album. “Satellite City,” is a perfect capsule of the wistful song-craftsmanship this ensemble is capable of. The band KIMOCK will tour behind the CD in November. For now, listen to the single, “Satellite City,” and enjoy.

No other tune on the record evolved as far from its origins as this one for me. The musical seed was an acoustic resonator guitar sound I used on Last Danger of Frost. Just a little cascading melody, harmonics, sounded like spilled water. I played it for Johnny and Leslie, who responded as if I’d yelled mush at two sled dogs, and I’ve been ass-over-teakettle trying to keep up ever since. Strong band, heavy lifting all around check Bobby Vega on the outro. The longest song and longest journey by a song on the record. - Steve Kimock

'Satellite City' arrives this Friday, October 27. Preorder at iTunes and Amazon for instant downloads of "Variation," "Satellite City" and "Waiting For A Miracle," out now.

What an honor and a pleasure to host the great Debashish Bhattacharya, pioneer and master of Indian slide guitar.

Kimock and Debashish will be playing a show together on Sunday, May 12 at Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem, PA.

A meeting of kindred spirits from opposite sides of the world and entirely different musical traditions, this is the first time ever these two will share the stage in a most intimate musical gathering at Lehigh Valley's premier listening room.  Join us as they reach beyond the original tradition to explore and create new forms of musical expression, colors and shapes from a shared sensibility and spiritual kinship.

LIMITED TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE.

Steve Kimock will host a separate musical workshop given by Debashish during the day at Godfrey Daniels from 12:00-4:00PM.
