Funk fans near and far are starting to figure that Analog Son might as well be in a perpetual studio session. With just a couple years on the scene, the group is gearing up to release their third full-length album this coming January. The band will also embark on a winter tour making stops through Salt Lake City, Jackson Hole, Ketchum, Bozeman, and Fort Collins. Analog Son will then return to The Bluebird Theater in their hometown of Denver, CO for a capstone performance to release their album on January 27, 2017.

Friends and collaborators of 18 years, Jordan Linit (guitar) and Josh Fairman (bass) have studied the recordings that they respect and admire.  Intensely focused on the composition and approaches of classic funk recordings, they have cultivated a new brand of funk that fuses together vintage tones with modern production. While they have a steadfast roster of Denver's nastiest musicians in their touring band, their studio albums call upon some of the most sought after musicians that might as well make up the roster for a musical version of the Dream Team.

'Black Diamond,' the group's forthcoming record, was primarily recorded in New Orleans, Louisiana while Linit and Fairman were at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival earlier this year. Not only does the new record showcase both compositional and improvisational skills soaring to new heights, but it features some of the scene's heaviest hitters including Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Co, The Allman Brothers), Nigel Hall (Lettuce), The Shady Horns (Lettuce), Terence Houston (The Funky Meters), Alvin Ford Jr. (Dumpstaphunk, Pretty Lights Live), and Joe Tatton (The New Mastersounds) just to name a few.

The group recently released their second single off of 'Black Diamond' entitled "Sunshine" featuring Ivan Neville. You can stream the track below.

If Analog Son has already achieved 'Black Diamond' level, what comes next? Linit has revealed that the band is already halfway done with their next release, so it's evident that Analog Son does not intend to slow down or stop any time soon. Non-stop funk is clearly where Linit and Fairman find themselves in their element, so make sure to stay tuned and enjoy the ride.

Genre-defying guitarist, Marcus Rezak, will release his highly anticipated debut solo album Gateway to the Galaxy on November 9th. This genre-fluid collection of songs features: Arthur Barrow (Zappa) on Bass, Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee) on drums, Joel Cummins (Umphrey’s McGee) on keyboards and legendary saxophonist Bill Evans.

Having a versatile track record of accolades including performing with Digital Tape Machine, Shred is Dead, Katharsis and countless artist-at-large engagements at elite music festivals, “Gateway to the Galaxy” is Rezak’s first venture into recording his own original material and laying down resonant vocals with heartfelt lyrics. Rezak approached the process with no previous preparation except what was inside of his heart and soul and the end result is a 7-track collection that weaves throughout a musical universe of styles including prog, jazz, rock, driven by catchy riffs and of course laced with jaw-dropping guitar shredding.

“The entire album is an expression of my current feelings about life and all points that have lead up until now. I wrote this song in the studio with some help from an incredible studio drummer (Scott Pellegrom) who demoed the tracks with me before Kris Myers re-recorded them at The Attic in Nashville, TN. I used several badass guitars, amps and effects on this track. Lipe USA Guitars, Dennis Fano Guitars, and PRS Guitars. I used a 1960’s Marshall Plexi with 4x12 Basket Weave Cab, early 60’s Fender Twin, Landgraff Overdrive, Analogman, Alesis, Keeley, and other effects. We used several different pre-amps on each instrument to achieve specific sonic ranges including SSL, Neo-Tech, Rupert Neve, and more,” Rezak remarks on the process.

A fun fact for fans of Zappa and epic rock virtuosity: The bass Arthur Barrow used on Frank Zappa’s Joe’s Garage was used on this album. The same lathe cutting machine that cut Dark Side of the Moon at Capitol Records was used to cut the lacquers for this album. The owner of 3rd Coast Recording Co. where I cut the album is owned by Bill Chrysler monitor engineer for Dead and Company.

“Gateway to the Galaxy” is available for vinyl pre-order at marcusrezak.com on and will be available digitally and on all platforms on November 9th. You can find a full list of tour dates and guest appearances below.

Vibrations are the essence of life, the essence of creation. Vibrations create patterns that escalate to movement. Those frequencies breed familiarity and familiarity connects like-minded people to come together. For almost a decade, Knew Conscious, founded by Kurt Redeker, provided a space for artists and art enthusiasts to come together and experience the vibrations of art, music, and community. In June of 2018, Knew Conscious was forced to closed its doors due to a host of zoning issues and misrepresentation of building use. After months of searching for a new home, Knew Conscious is excited to announce its reopening at 1134 North Broadway in the Golden Triangle District in Denver, Colorado.

Knew Conscious transcends your typical art gallery. The new gorgeous, three-level property, will function as a members-only social club, a new pop-up concept restaurant, a private event space, and the signature art gallery everyone has come to know. In addition to the new multi-functional space, Knew Conscious is now a family-owned business. Kurt has enlisted his cousin, Leah Hagemann, as his primary business partner and Chief Financial Officer.

When Knew Conscious first opened at 2700 Walnut Street, it operated solely as an art gallery showcasing Redeker’s signature multi-medium artwork. Described as “alien,” he creates digital artwork based on patterns and vibrations that are then framed in light boxes that illuminate his artwork. As he invited guest artists to display their work too, he realized it was a challenge to get people to come purely to view the art. Kurt decides to leverage his love for music, a medium of art that is universally accepted and understood, to bring more attention to visual the artists who displayed their work at the gallery.

Knew Conscious

“I used the vibration of the music to bring more people into an art space to allow them to feel more comfortable with viewing the masterpieces on the wall.” -Kurt Redeker, founder.

Eventually, Kurt sought a bigger room that could accommodate larger events and foster exponential growth. In retrospect, it was that decision to move that Kurt says he wishes he would have given more time to research on. Redeker reflects on learning from not understanding the commercial building zoning process, especially as an artist trying to foster a safe creative space.

“I learned that you have to be up for the challenge and you can’t be complacent when it comes to commercial property and our patrons’ safety. This has allowed me to better understand the city’s compliance and zoning demands that we are required to provide a safe environment. In the end, you can’t learn without mistakes. Failures breed growth. I’m very grateful to have another shot at this. I feel this is important to share with our members, this is where we’ve been for the last year.”

Knew Conscious will occupy the brand new space with a 500-capacity concert hall on the first floor, a gallery & lounge on the second floor, and a rooftop patio. “The biggest thing to expect is it will have the same intimate feel as the original location on Walnut Street, except it is bigger and newer,” says Redeker.

Kurt stresses the new location will operate in 100% compliance with the city. In order to any attend events, patrons MUST become members—even fellow artists, musicians, and industry workers. It is a private club—a home away from home—and needs to be treated as such. Once memberships are activated, members will be treated to an exclusive, all-inclusive, club inside.

Marcus Rezak is a seasoned veteran at opening the gateway to galactic collaborations. He has shared the stage with the heaviest hitters on the jam scene including members of Umphrey’s McGee, moe., Lotus, STS9, and more. Couple that with the worldly talents of Frank Zappa and David Bowie band members and add the icing from the likes of Stanley Jordan and Fareed Haraquee on top of Berklee-educated cake and you have an artist with limitless possibilities. In November 2018, Rezak took his first steps as a solo artist releasing a stellar shoegaze jam-rock debut album Gateway to the Galaxy. Wanting to release a single to preface a sophomore album he called upon ‘GTTG’ collaborator Joel Cummins to do a track at Color Red Studios during this summer’s Umphrey’s McGee run at Red Rocks. From there, he filled out the session with Allen Aucoin (The Disco Biscuits) on drums and Josh Fairman (SunSquabi, Analog Son) on bass.

Color Red, an entertainment platform & record label founded by Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds, gives artists a platform to call in like-minded musicians to push boundaries and break barriers. Having a prior working relationship Fairman (one of the partners of the label who also engineered & produced the session) and wanting to release a single anyway, it made sense for him to bring Cummins and Aucoin in and record the tune during Umphrey’s Red Rocks run. Cummins had already hinted that Color Red was a natural fit and bound to happen. His wife had previously tour managed The New Mastersounds for two years and the group actually ended up playing their wedding in Jamaica.

“Neutron Orbiter” is the result of four titans of cross-genre music producing a monster progressive, jam fusion, shred-fest magnum opus. Each musician lends a special sound as you hear hints of masterful guitar, layered synth work, pocket bass, and a healthy mix of both time and breaks on the drums. Not only do you hear the signature sound that’s reminiscent of work in their respective projects, but everybody has a chance to shine as an individual. The group entered the studio with no prior outline and composed the song organically. It was recorded straight to tape on a Tascam 388 and later fleshed out with guitar overdubs at Fairman’s studio Scanhope Sound and keyboard overdubs at Eric Krasno’s studio in Los Angeles.

"Neutron Orbiter" is an epic musical journey that is a true extension of my musical direction combining multiple sounds to create one whole sound. This track was written and recorded live in the studio with no previous preparation resulting in a purely organic musical development of the track with later overdubs of sonic layering enhancing what was already recorded. Some keyboards were recorded later at Eric Krasno's studio in LA. I'm really happy with the overall sound of the tracks mix and sonic layers throughout,” Rezak remarks on the final product.

The September 17th single release coincides with Rezak’s aggressive fall touring schedule with several solo dates, artist-at-large engagements, and one-offs with his projects Katharis (ft. members of The Motet, Dopapod, and RAQ) and Supernatural Beings. This release comes ahead of Supernatural Beings’ hit at Resonance Festival September 19th-22nd that also features Joel Cummins alongside bandmate Kris Myers of Umphrey’s McGee.

The Payback 501(c)(3) has partnered with The Sound Mind Collective and Color Red Music to establish a Musicians' Emergency Relief Fund in support of musicians facing economic hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund provides an opportunity for live music supporters to contribute directly towards the financial stability of performing artists who may not be able to meet basic needs as cancellations increase. Eligible applicants will receive microgrants ranging from $100-$500 to cover housing, food, medical care, and other necessities.

Founded in 2014 by Eddie Roberts, guitarist, and bandleader of The New Mastersounds, The Payback is an initiative focused on combating youth and families experiencing homelessness in cities across the U.S. With musicians facing more hardship than ever as a result of the economic impact of canceled gigs and lost income, Roberts and his partners in The Payback, Color Red and The Sound Mind Collective found it a necessity to step up to the plate and offer support for those who may be struggling to make rent and mortgage payments and cover immediate housing necessities.

“Musicians who rely on live performance to keep a roof over their heads and provide basic needs for themselves and their families are on the frontline of the economic crisis caused by this worldwide pandemic. It seemed appropriate that The Payback switched its focus to supporting the most at-risk musicians from falling through the cracks during this time,” says Roberts.

The Musicians’ Relief Fund has received contributions from multiple companies who want to come forward to help musicians in their community. One donation came from Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom’s owner, Scott Morrill. Located in Denver, CO, home to Roberts and Color Red, both Morrill and Cervantes’ have been longtime partners and supporters of The Payback and The New Mastersounds.“This is an extremely difficult time for musicians who make their living from performing live shows. With so much uncertainty in how long this pandemic will last, it’s more important than ever for those that can help to chip in. Eddie has always been very thoughtful with raising money for different charities in the past and continues to help the music community with the Musicians’ Emergency Relief Fund,” remarks Morrill on chipping in.

Applications will be reviewed in the order that they are received. Musicians and industry personnel wishing to apply can do so here: https://www.eddierobertspayback.com

ABOUT THE PAYBACK

The Payback 501(c)(3) was started by Eddie Roberts, guitarist, and bandleader of the International funk group The New Mastersounds, funk & soul group, Matador! Soul Sounds, and founder of Color Red Music. As a musician who spent much of his time living in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, Eddie developed a deep sense of connection to the neighborhood while also witnessing the day-to-day reality of widespread homelessness. Eddie has since moved to Denver, CO, where the number of youth identified as homeless has doubled over recent years. Through our benefit concerts, The Payback has raised tens of thousands of dollars in both San Francisco and Denver. We are proud of our role in bringing together all-star musicians such as Zigaboo Modeliste, Oteil Burbridge, Robert Walter, and Jennifer Hartswick to raise awareness for this important cause.

New York’s progressive fusion rockers, Shwizz, will release “The Shwizzard,”  the second single off of their forthcoming album ‘Big Things’ on May 15th. The 8-track album is jam-packed full of guest artists from Kung Fu, Consider the Source, Lespecial, Frank Zappa’s band, and more and will drop in-full on June 26th via Color Red.

The cinematic rock fusion tune features Chris DeAngelis and Tim Palmieri of Kung Fu on guitar and bass. Composed by multi-instrumentalist Ryan Liatsis around 2010-2011, the track had metamorphosized a couple of times but sat on the back burner until the ‘Big Things’ sessions. Liatsis reinvigorated the tune envisioning a Fantasia-like darkness with ominous tension and release that tips its hat equally to Frank Zappa and Hans Zimmer. This cinematic approach paved the way for adding robust orchestral-like sections that yield to epic and emotional sounding textures.

Once in the hands of the Kung Fu collaborators, DeAngelis took the bass line to new levels nailing the dirty feel and tone needed to augment the tune. In true wizard form, Liatsis and Palmieri face off in a dueling guitar section during the middle of the tune and layered in multiple guitar tracks over the duration of the song.

“The Shwizzard” is the second single off of ‘Big Things’ that is dropping in a “waterfall” format on digital platforms with new singles every month leading up to its release on June 26th. On June 19th, the band will release “Changing Gears” featuring Luke Bemand of Lespecial on bass.

Michelle Sarah will release her debut single “Truth” on Color Red on Friday, August 28th. The commanding, heart-felt track features DJ Williams (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Shots Fired), Eric Imbrociano, Eric Luba, Tim Philpott, and a tight-knit horn section. “Truth” will lead the charge for her upcoming album produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos.

“Truth” reminds us that we have the power to rise and focus on what serves the heart and soul—it creates a better situation for everyone. Berlin’s acute sense of production in tandem with Michelle’s eloquent songwriting prowess helped craft the track into a carefully honed foundation of wah-wah guitar vamps, committed horn punches, and pocket grooves to allow her commanding vocals to soar. Lyrically, Michelle speaks to not giving your soul away to make ends meet and how we often find ourselves distracted from what is most important in life. “The message is that we all need love to survive. We need to recognize our oneness and stand up for what’s right. The verses talk about how we all get caught up behind our ‘masks.’ At the time, I meant the proverbial mask, but now, that can take a whole new meaning actually having to wear masks all over the world now,” she reflects on the song’s meaning.

No stranger to the national music circuit, Michelle Sarah is a powerful singer and songwriter known for her explosive vocals, relentless creative energy, and dynamic blend of soul and funk. Born in Toronto and raised in Guyana and the United States, her musical foundation was forged in the church and is rooted in gospel influence that shines through during each of her performances. With her powerful voice and stunning stage presence at the forefront, Michelle Sarah has earned high praise from countless musicians and her ever-growing fan base.

Michelle moved to Denver in 2017 and quickly planted her roots. She found herself drawn to the city with a rich music scene and creative renaissance and hit the ground running to form her all-star band and take part in artist-at-large engagements at ARISE Music Festival and beyond. Both Denver and cultivating a catalog of her original music felt like exactly what she needed to be doing. After Michelle assembled the band and put took the project on the road, Berlin stepped in on the producer seat and help the group hone in on their sound and take time in the process. The album was a year in the making that Michelle did not want to rush and yearned to embrace the process every step of the way. “I wanted it to feel perfect like the best work I've done to date and I wanted to take my time making it. I feel like I accomplished that in a big way,” she reflects.

Michelle Sarah teamed up with Color Red, the music platform and record label founded by Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds to release and distribute the album. Her soulful vocals and high-powered band were a perfect fit for the label’s catalog of funk and soul music with a mission to release high-quality original music on a regular basis.

Additional singles will be released over the coming months with an album release date TBD. For more information and to learn more, visit michellesarahmusic.com and color-red.co

Denver-based psychedelic dance band Autonomix has announced a new lineup that features founding members Josh Nermon on keyboards and Danny Littler on bass with the new additions of Carl Cox on saxophone, Alex Ginzberg on guitar, and AJ Gillman on drums. The group will release a remix album with the lead single “Emerald” remixed by Funkstatik out today, Wednesday, March 10th. The album is sponsored and supported by Denver Kush Club and The Mile High Sound Movement. Proceeds from the album will benefit GVS Foundation (Gun Violence Survivors Foundation).

The new lineup comes after the tragic and untimely death of the band’s guitarist, Zack Smith, who died of a gunshot wound on September 10, 2020. Prior to forming Autonomix, Smith performed with electro-funk group Vine Street Vibes where he cut his teeth as a composer and bandleader establishing himself as a staple in Denver’s burgeoning jam and electronic scene. He later connected with his longtime friend and collaborator, Littler, to perform in Telemetry and shortly after they both left the group, they called Smith’s friend of over a decade and recent Colorado transplant, Josh Nermon, to jam with a new group they had been forming. After an exhilarating, 15-minute improvisation that seemed to flow out of thin air with telepathic chemistry amongst the members, Autonomix was born in 2018.

In a mere two years of existence, Autonomix would find themselves performing at notable regional festivals such as Gem & Jam Music Festival, Sonic Bloom Music Festival, ARISE Music Festival, STS9’s WaveSpell Music Festival, and have provided direct support for heavy-hitting acts such as Papadosio, SunSquabi, The New Deal, BUKU, Pnuma LIve, Particle, and more.

Earning accolades such as “shows not to miss” on festival previews and garnering multiple media engagements, Autonomix was on a trajectory to become a rising band in the Denver scene and beyond with even more festival inquiries and high-caliber shows coming down the pipeline. The COVID-19 pandemic hit and the unthinkable happened with Smith’s death last fall, could have easily been a  recipe for the group to call it quits. Nermon and Littler knew it was their calling to keep the project alive in a way that would both honor Smith while breathing new life into the group. The impact that Smith had as a founding member cannot be understated and his legacy will live on through the band, not only by his musical genius but his ability to lead a group of talented and dedicated musicians. Nermon cites that Smith demonstrated how to lead a group and be a strong individual that people could rely on and put their faith in. The relationship the two had as co-writers is a rare, simpatico chemistry that is admired by music fans and performers alike.

The new lineup will expand upon previously written material penned by Smith and the original lineup as well as bring new collaborative ideas to the table. Nermon and Litter’s goal is to honor the music written by Smith as well as compose entirely new material in the canon of Smith and Nermon’s collective writing style. The new group has already begun to crank out new tunes and etch a new footprint in what fans love about the original Autonomix.

Carl Cox brings new layers and stylistic complexities in his work on saxophone and percussion. His relationship with Smith dates back to grade school and their years-long friendship would eventually evolve into Vine Street Vibes. Alex Ginzburg is a veteran in the Denver music scene with a virtuosic prowess on guitar who brings a breath of fresh air to Smith’s difficult and deliberate guitar lines. His unique perspective and dedication to music is coupled with an extensive background in jazz, electronic production, and professional recording bringing a skillset to Autonomix that was previously unseen. AJ Gillman has a diverse background performing in a multitude of Denver-based groups that span across several musical genres and open new doors to musical exploration. The new additions fit seamlessly into Nermon and Littler’s groundwork and set the table for expansive improvisations and opening up doors for a limitless sound.

The new group is picking up right where the old one left off – constantly writing new, captivating material that blurs the lines of genres and gives the audience something they have never heard before. Autonomix is continuing to push the envelope on what is possible with live improvisation dedicated to elements of electronic music, jam bands, and orchestrated rock without the use of laptops. The new members are truly dedicated to their crafts and bring something unique and fun to the public. They strive to create music that is reminiscent of sounds you know and love, but put together in a way that exudes joy, real emotion, and exploring the unknown. The future is bright!” says Nermon of the new group.

The new lineup will perform their first show at Globe Hall on Saturday, May 1st 2021 with two shows starting at 7 pm and 9 pm. The show will be an album release party to celebrate the band’s first EP with the new group that will also drop on May 1st.

Both projects are coming off remarkable years and active spring schedules leading up to the summer tour. 2022 saw the release of Unify, Lettuce’s eighth studio album that got the endorsement from legendary funk icon Bootsy Collins who guests on vocals and bass on the anthemic lead single “Keep the Funk Alive.” The group has maintained an active schedule on the road supporting the release of Unify and will have racked up appearances at Jam Cruise; Backwoods Music Festival; a 3-night residency at the celebrated Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC; and a very special performance with the Louisiana Philharmonic and Tower of Power during Jazz Fest before uniting with Steel Pulse.

Formed in 1975, Steel Pulse has amassed 9 GRAMMY nominations and one win throughout their storied career. One of the nominations was for their latest studio offering, Mass Manipulation, which reflects on four decades committed to bettering mankind through music. The band will trek through club dates with Orange County-based, cross-cultural reggae band Common Kings; a pair of shows in Hawaii; an April 20th show at Red Rocks Amphitheater with The Marley Brothers; an appearance at São Paulo, Brazil’s Encontro das Tribos Festival alongside Wiz Khalifa, Ice Cube & more; and a one-off show in Martinique’s Mizik Nou - Live Festival prior to hitting the road with Lettuce.

What may seem like a sonically contrasting pairing on paper excites each project as they cite the co-billed tour as an opportunity to introduce each band to one another’s fan base every night instilling a sense of curiosity and enlightenment. David Hinds, lead singer and guitarist of Steel Pulse, draws comparisons to the group’s 1981 tour with Average White Band. “It’s an experience of going into the unknown that we ourselves first encountered touring with Average White Band 42 years ago,” he says, “I know it left us being far more knowledgeable musicians; tapping into different forms of arrangements.”

Hinds’ mention of Average White Band brings an even more full circle nature to the tour as Adam Deitch, drummer of Lettuce, performed with AWB on drums for three years after studying at Berklee School of Music. As Deitch continues to carry the torch and has solidified himself as one of today’s most revered drummers, he echoes Hinds’ sentiments of anticipation, “It's a complete honor to be sharing the stage with a legendary band like Steel Pulse. They are powerful musical shamans and we look forward to such a spiritual experience.”

The summer tour will feature VIP offerings in every city that include exclusive pre-show hangouts with both bands, group photo opportunities with both bands, exclusive Steel Pulse & Lettuce collaborative merchandise, and more.

String-Americana group The Sweet Lillies have officially revealed the details for their fourth studio album, Equality, set for release on Friday, June 2nd via Americana Vibes. Their new single “Words,” an upbeat composition with bebop influence is available now; HERE to listen, download or stream. The song is accompanied by a music video that showcases their experience in the studio with cuts from the recording sessions at Mighty Fine Productions in their hometown of Denver, CO. Watch the video HERE.

“The song ‘Words’ is about overcoming uncertainty and self-doubt.  In this song, I question the use of language and its implications.  Asking when it is best to speak up and when it is best to be an observer, what is the result of those choices? Self-exploration and self-discovery as it relates to our words is the nature of this piece,” says violist Becca Bisque.

Equality is an intrepid collection of songs that represents the current and evolved sound of the band. The Lillies’ are comprised of stellar musicians Julie Gussaroff (Upright Bass, Vocals, Guitar & Mandolin), Becca Bisque (Viola, Vocals & Percussion), Dustin Rohleder (Guitar & Vocals), and Jones Maynard (Drums & Percussion). Produced by GRAMMY-award winner Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters, the instrumentation is primarily what you will hear at a live show with the exception of Pandolfi on banjo for a few select tracks, Kyle Hollingsworth of The String Cheese Incident on keys and Jason Hann from  The String Cheese Incident on additional drums.

“Every band that makes meaningful music over a long career will go through concentrated moments of evolution where most aspects of their sound and vision take a huge leap forward, seemingly in a moment's time. Equality, the excellent new album from the Lillies, is a coming of age for this up-and-coming band. From hip-hop-inspired writing to an expansive new sound featuring guest Jason Hann from The String Cheese Incident on drums, this record makes a powerful statement that will surely catch the attention of new ears. Becca, Julie and Dustin all brought their A-game, laying down emotive, compelling live tracks in the studio, exceeding expectations at every turn. It was an honor to produce Equality and I can't wait to see where it takes The Sweet Lillies,” remarks Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters on producing the album.

Each song is a unique composition that blends into the concept of the album which is Equality. Social Justice, self-exploration, and evolution of the spirit are the guiding feelings of this new record. Pre-order the vinyl, CD & exclusive merchandise at Americana Vibes HERE.

Salt Lake City-based purveyors of bluegrass, skiing, and silly outfits, Pixie and The Partygrass Boys, have announced the release of a brand new album The Chicken Coop, Vol. 1, the first on indie label Americana Vibes. Set for release on May 19th, the band continues their upward trajectory with guest appearances from Jeremy Garrett and Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters further solidifying being touted as “the hottest band in the Wasatch” by Intermountain Acoustic Music Association and earning coveted slots on festival lineups including Northwest String Summit, DelFest, Peach Fest, Jam Cruise, WinterWonderGrass. Denver-based String-Americana group The Sweet Lillies have released “18 Wheels,” the second single off of their fourth studio album, Equality, out for release on Friday, June 2nd via Americana Vibes. “18 Wheels” forges forward through a mid-tempo soul-searching journey with vocals courtesy of guitarist & vocalist, Dustin Rohleder and is available HERE to stream and download. The release is accompanied by a surrealist animated music video depicting an 18-wheeler truck and a man walking through different settings bending the imagery as symbolism for his quest for self-actualization and growth. Watch the video HERE.

“The song 18 wheels is a metaphor that uses the concept of a tractor-trailer driver to describe the experience of being a lone wolf in search of your life,” explains Rohleder, “ It is a diesel-soaked narrative of a man reaching further than he has ever reached before to find his inner self.”

Recorded at Mighty Fine Productions in the band’s hometown of Denver, Colorado, Equality is an intrepid collection of songs that represents the current and evolved sound of the band. Comprised of core members Julie Gussaroff (Upright Bass, Vocals, Guitar & Mandolin), Becca Bisque (Viola, Vocals & Percussion), Dustin Rohleder (Guitar & Vocals), and Jones Maynard (Drums & Percussion), the band enlisted GRAMMY-award winner Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters to produce the album and it features guest appearances by Kyle Hollingsworth of The String Cheese Incident on keys and Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident on additional drums.

On working with the band on their forthcoming album, Pandolfi says, “Every band that makes meaningful music over a long career will go through concentrated moments of evolution, where most aspects of their sound and vision take a huge leap forward, seemingly in a moment's time. 'Equality,' the excellent new album from the Lillies, is a coming of age for this up-and-coming band. From hip-hop-inspired writing to an expansive new sound featuring guest Jason Hann from String Cheese on drums, this record makes a powerful statement that will surely catch the attention of new ears. Becca, Julie, and Dustin all brought their A game, laying down emotive, compelling live tracks in the studio, exceeding expectations at every turn. It was an honor to produce 'Equality,' and I can't wait to see where it takes The Sweet Lillies.”
