Oklahoma native Anne Reburn uses music as a means to connect and inspire. Growing up singing, dancing and playing the piano from a young age, her music is filled with this youthful passion - transforming the monotony of the everyday into engaging, intimate narratives.

Her latest release “Everywhere and Nowhere” describes the beauty of finding another person who feels like home. With her soft, angelic vocals cushioned only by the gentle riff of an acoustic guitar, their sweet sentiment shines through effortlessly.

“‘Everywhere and Nowhere’ is about quality time spent with someone you love”, Anne explains. “You have dreams of going everywhere and doing everything with them, but you're also perfectly content to stay in with them and go nowhere. When you're with that special person, location doesn't matter. You can be happy no matter where you are”.

Recently moving to L.A, Anne curated songs throughout her adolescence that she initially felt too afraid to share with anybody, before gaining the confidence to embrace her artistic agency. Alongside her eponymous YouTube channel, which holds 340,000 subscribers and over 41 million views, Anne’s ability to connect with others through song offers us a glimpse into her musical realm.

“Everywhere and Nowhere” was just released February 26th with more music to follow throughout the year.

Dawn Chorus are an atmospheric indie rock trio out of Salt Lake City, UT. With an energetic life of its own, their upcoming single ‘Modern Being’ radiates a sunny disposition, taking the listener on a journey through an array of instrumentation with a psychedelic vibe. Musically coming together the day Trump was defeated in the presidential election, it’s no wonder the tune has such an uplifting feel!

Utilising their passion for different genres and styles, Dawn Chorus incorporate everything from acoustic guitar to cello, flute, organ and synthesisers on the new track. Every instrument and track was performed by Dawn Chorus and entirely self-produced, composed, arranged, engineered and was even mixed within one of the members’ apartment. The DIY attitude of Dawn Chorus gives them an authenticity that shines through both musically and lyrically.

Dawn Chorus on the meaning behind the track:

It's about disillusionment with modern life and technology's effect on interpersonal relationships. Lyrically, this song was inspired by a mushroom trip in Colorado. Musically, the core of this song came together the day Trump was defeated (thank god) as such, it has a celebratory feel. Harmonically, it was inspired by Brian Wilson's more daring Harmonic arrangements / harmonic language of Jazz. We were striving to capture that classic 60s / Beatles psychedelic feel with a modern flare /extra dose of harmony.

Having played music together in some capacity for roughly 7 years, Dawn Chorus started writing and recording in earnest with their current lineup in 2018. Priding themselves on their collaborative effort, the trio try to span the multitude of genres that influence them.

‘Modern Being’ follows their November 2020 single ‘Diamond Dust’. Last year the band enjoyed breakthrough success with their track ‘Origami Heart’, which reached 50k+ streams on Spotify over the course of a few months and was playlisted internationally. The single also achieved local coverage by SLUG Magazine and Salt Lake City weekly for the band.

Dawn Chorus is comprised of: William Fait - Guitar, Keys, Vox; Christian Sudweeks - Bass, keys, drums, vox, mixing; and Christopher Weed - Lead Vox, Keys, Drums.

Hong Kong-born and raised/ Melbourne-based singer and songwriter Alex Fasso returns with the new single ‘Northside’ released on May 28th. The new single is the lead track taken from Fasso’s upcoming EP ‘They All Look The Same’. ‘Northside’ is new territory for Alex Fasso, who has grown from his previous indie-acoustic sound to a more sleek production featuring 80s inspired synths and a soulful vocal delivery. The track radiates a sense of nostalgia with its sampling of one of the most famous movie quotes of all time from the 1946 film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.

Alex Fasso on what inspired ‘Northside’:

“‘’Northside’ is about this suburb in Melbourne (that I won’t name because I don’t want to offend too many people), it’s about how we’re in a world where everyone wants to stand out from societal norms but the people from the suburb just all look the same. They all dress the same, shop at the same stores, smoke the same cigarettes, go to the same bars and really by them doing this they in fact aren’t “indie”, they are just the same as everyone else”

Alex intends to keep the lines blurred within his music as to whether it’s inspired by his reality or fiction. While ‘Northside’ is more explicitly about observations in his personal life, Alex’s other songs are often inspired by films or complete fantasy.

“My goal as an artist is to try, as much as I can, to not let the audience find out what songs are inspired by truth and what songs are fiction. I want the audience to listen to my music and find meaning for themselves rather than me telling them how they are meant to think and feel.” Alex adds.

Alex Fasso kicked off 2021 with a performance and interview with Melbourne’s UnderShelter Sessions on YouTube followed by a podcast on Melbourne youth radio, Syn FM in May.. Alex has made a name for himself on the Melbourne and Hong Kong music scene and is now looking to expand his reach and get his voice out there, sharing his stories and ideas with the world. He is inspired by artists such as Mac DeMarco, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Bon Iver.
