It has been since 2004 that Grace of the Sun was released. Now, Richie Havens is at it again, making finishing touches on his 27th album.  Recorded last month at Sear Sound Recording in NYC, Nobody Left to Crown will be released in Europe this fall on Polydor Records. The U.S. release date and label imprint will be announced soon.  Special guests on Nobody Left to Crown include Derek Trucks and Harry Manx. For more information regarding Richie's new album release, visit Brightcove.tv

Richie Havens first emerged from New York City's Greenwich Village folk scene in the early 60's, and in 1969 inspired and electrified an audience of over half a million with his legendary three hour opening performance at Woodstock.

Four decades later Richie Havens remains one of the most recognizable voices and universal lyricists in popular music.  A truly timeless performer, and a man before his time, today this Brooklyn Native celebrates the reissue of two album classics (Stonehenge and Wishing Well) by Sony RED.

Haven's recently released his 26th album, Grace of the Sun, on his own Stormy Forest record label.  A testament to Havens' continued evolution as an artist, Grace of the Sun is being hailed as one of his most worldly and relevant albums to date. Billboard says, "…this acoustic soul giant truly seems to be getting more inspiring and graceful with age," and Guitar Player echoes, "…as vibrant and purposeful as ever."

Richie Havens' live performance is as captivating as always; a passionate and inspiring display of timelessness and spirit.  His concerts include music from Grace of the Sun as well as a broad selection of songs from his extensive repertoire. On a side note, Richie's 1981 hit "Going Back to My Roots" has hit dance floors in the form of a cool Afro-beat remix by celebrated remixer/producer and club DJ Danny Krivit.

The 3rd Annual Bear Creek Music and Art Festival returns to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida Nov. 13-15 for three days of music, art, camping and community as fans from all over the nation gather along the banks of the famous Suwannee River for the fall’s final musical celebration.

The peak autumn weekend is packed full of high-energy, upbeat and danceable music highlighted by the festival’s trademark sounds of over fifty performing bands with a dozen groups offering two entire shows.

Among the featured bands performing twice include New Orleans’ contemporary funk institution Galactic; acid jazz sax-master Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe; the swamp funk of Crescent City natives Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk; the UK’s hottest, funkiest export The New Mastersounds, West African primal swing of Toubab Krewe; world music psychedelic dub/reggae collective Dub Conscious and the full frontal assault of funk jazz all-star collective Lettuce.

Additional festival highlights include Georgia’s brightest progressive jamband Perpetual Groove; longtime James Brown collaborator Fred Wesley & The New JB’s; upbeat trance/dance fusion of Lotus; virtuosic guitar wizard Steve Kimock Crazy Engine; neo-soul keyboardist Robert Walter’s 20th Congress; Southern rock super group Hill Country Revue; the kinetic keyboard and drum frenzy of the Benevento Russo Duo; contemporary avant-rock trio The Slip; as well as full sets from Bonerama, Pnuma Trio, Papa Mali Band, Garage A Trois, Yonrico Scott Band and more than two dozen more. The complete artist lineup can be found online at www.bearcreekmusicfestival.com

Thursday night’s pre-festival kick-off party starts the vibe off right Nov. 12 featuring full sets from Toubab Krewe, Pnuma Live PA, Pimps of Joytime, The Heavy Pets, Brother Bean & Gravity A. Admission for Thursday night’s show is $40 and includes music, primitive camping and is only available to weekend festival ticket buyers. In addition to live music, 12 talented painters will create live art during the musical performances, providing their own artistic interpretations of their experience while on stage. These original paintings will be displayed and sold in the Bear Creek Art Tent

VIP packages offer a more upscale festival experience including access to all music performances, primitive camping Friday through Sunday, exclusive access to the VIP area, reduced price beverages, and three meals (Friday lunch; Saturday lunch; and Sunday lunch).  VIP Ticket prices start at $275 until Oct. 1 and are available online at www.bearcreekmusicfestival.com or by calling the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park Office at 386-364-1683.

The Park Office can also process requests to upgrade already purchased weekend tickets to VIP Tickets.  Bear Creek Music Festival advanced weekend tickets are available now online for the early pricing of $125 through Oct. 1 and includes all music performances and primitive camping Friday through Sunday. There is no charge for children 12 and under with a paid adult weekend ticket.

Continuing its commitment to community in a variety of displays, Bear Creek once again presents its ‘Green Program’ - the festival’s pursuit for environmental improvement with a pledge to use more biodegradable materials, exhibit water conservation policies, habitat protection efforts, increase recycling and more throughout the park’s environmentally-friendly facility.

Bear Creek also hosts a weekend-long food drive in support of The Food Bank of Suwannee Valley by asking all festival patrons to bring a donation of canned goods and non-perishable food items to one of the Festival’s many receptacle barrels located at the main gate and throughout the venue. In addition, the festival is hosting the second annual Bear Creek Feed the Hungry Disc Golf Tournament happening on the Music Park’s 18-hole disc golf course. Its mission is to raise funds for the Food Bank of Suwannee Valley; yet this fun, casual and charitable disc golf tournament during the festival raised hundreds of dollars as well as hundreds of pounds of food during the 2008 event. Tournament schedule & sign-up details are available online.

Conveniently located between Jacksonville and Tallahassee, the Bear Creek Music Festival is located just minutes off of I-75 in Northern Florida at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida.

About the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park:

The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is a one-of-a-kind outdoor music venue and campground and was recently bestowed the honor of Best Live Music Venue in 2009 by readers of Florida Monthly Magazine.  The 700+ acre resort overlooks the historic Suwannee River and offers unmatched primitive campsites, water and electric campsites, five shower houses, and cabin rentals, as well as a full amenity package including canoeing, an authentic craft village, mini-golf and disk-golf courses, a full service restaurant, a natural amphitheater, music, festivals, a general store, golf cart rentals, and more.

British singer-songwriter Bobby Long returns to the road this summer for a combination of solo acoustic shows and a series of dates at which he will be backed by a band for the first time since arriving on American shores just over a year ago.  Long, who has been working on his recording debut album backed by studio musicians, has been anxious to bring this new dynamic to his live appearances and is looking forward to giving his hauntingly personal songs added depth and dimension.

The first of Long’s band shows will be at New York’s Highline Ballroom on Tuesday, June 15, followed by three other dates in the Northeast and a run of west coast dates in early July.  His band is comprised of musicians he met while on a short run of US shows this May.  In between the full band dates, he will perform solo.

Signed to ATO Records in April, Long has been making his self-financed studio debut under the helm of producer Liam Watson, who won a Grammy® for his work on Elephant by The White Stripes.  They began recording at Watson’s analog Toe Rag Studios in London during Long’s short breaks from his hectic 2009 touring schedule – Bobby played 160 headline shows in seven months in seven countries.

Meanwhile, Bobby’s independent CDs, sold exclusively at his shows, have earned critical  acclaim of their own.  Selections from DIRTY POND SONGS, the 10-song collection he recorded in his London apartment, have made their way onto AAA radio playlists in the U.S., becoming the catalyst for his inclusion on NPR’s “World Café” national broadcast in April and his live performance at the Non-Commercial Radio Conference (Non-Comm) in Philadelphia on June 3.  The Columbia (MO) Daily Tribune, in a recent show preview, wrote:  “…’Dirty Pond Songs,’ musically, is a revelation – both in its simplicity and strength of songwriting.  Most of the album is occupied simply by Long, his gentle, steady acoustic guitar strum and lonesome harmonica.  But, Long holds enough talent to keep fans' attention without any extravagant bells and whistles.”

Additionally, “Left To Lie,” Long’s first digital release from DIRTY POND SONGS, reached #1 on the iTunes “Unsigned” chart and #8 on the Folk chart, while  “My Darling Belle,” his latest digital single culled from the DANGEROUS SUMMER 2009 live compilation, reached #2 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart by the end of its first day of release.  Such affirmation has only served to build anticipation for the studio debut to be released via ATO Records.

Bobby Long 2010 Summer Tour

Long’s live performances have been receiving more notice as he carves out strongholds in U.S. markets that have welcomed him back repeatedly.  Until now, it was just him and an acoustic guitar, but that has never left his audiences wanting.  As Jambase described a recent live performance:  “The majority of the catalog builds off relatively simplistic chord progressions, but he shows a remarkable knack for adding color via accent notes with his unorthodox two-fingered picking attack and construction of fuller, brighter chords than the standard singer-songwriter fare.”  Another writer for jitzul.com summed it up:  “…just with his voice and his guitar, he fills the space and commands the stage.  His voice was made to hear live and it never waivers.”

Adding the band will allow Bobby to stretch out a bit.  “I’m looking at the shows with a band as another chapter in this adventure,” says Long.  “I played guitar in a band when I first started performing music, but it was before I wrote my own material.  It will be an exciting experience for me to add fresh elements to my songs like I was able to do when I was recording the album.”

Bobby Long’s summer shows (with band dates noted) include:

June 15—Highline Ballroom, New York City (band date); 16—Harpers Ferry, Boston (band date); 17—Stage One, Fairfield, CT (band date); 18—World Café Live (main room), Philadelphia (band date); 23—The Space, Evanston, IL; 24—The Basement, Columbus, OH; 26—Mixtape Venue, Grand Rapids, MI; 28—The Firebird, St. Louis; 29—Record Bar, Kansas City;

July 3—El Corazon, Seattle; 4—Backstage Bar, Vancouver, BC; 6—Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco (band date); 7—Anthology, San Diego (band date); 8—Wasted Space at Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas (band date); 9—The Troubadour, Los Angeles, CA (band date); 17—XPoNential Music Festival, Wiggins Park, Camden, NJ (band date); and August 14—Mile High Festival, Denver.  More U.S. dates will be announced shortly.

Luther Dickinson is the Artist-in-Residence at ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival taking place this weekend at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts in Champaign-Urbana, IL.  He's making the rounds all weekend and kicked things off two nights ago at the Opening Night Party with a sit-in with Malian guitar great Vieux Farka Toure.  The guys jammed for a few songs and we've got some great video from one of the highlights here.  Luther will be making surprised and scheduled sit-ins all weekend at shows, many of which are free and open to the public.   Daniel Lanois' Black Dub (featuring Brian Blade, Trixie Whitley and Daryl Johnson) as well as Toshi Reagon and BIG Lovely also performed at yesterday's Opening Night.  An estimated 2100 people came out for the $5 show, which was held on various stages in the Krannert Center's lobby.

Wed, 09/14/2011 - 10:19 am

ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival held at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts on the University of Illinois campus September 8-10 celebrated its fourth incarnation this past weekend. With nearly 30 performances – including 17 free shows and 10 ticketed events – the biennial event hosted a truly international cast of players in the micro-urban city of Champaign-Urbana, IL and welcomed more than 11,500 music fans throughout the weekend.

Festival highlights included choice billing featuring two-time Grammy Award winner
Taj Mahal with fellow Grammy-winners the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Alvin Youngblood Hart, a rocking Opening Night set from noted producer/recording artist Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub, a pickin’ party from bluegrass renegades Chris Thile and Michael Daves, and a Latin-infused dance set from Marc Ribot and Los Cubanos Postizos, among others. Veteran progressive-rock guitarist Adrian Belew also provided an inside look into his pioneering past with his Keynote Address followed by a rousing solo acoustic performance at the Krannert’s Center’s intimate outdoor amphitheater.

As in year’s past, mixed media and performance art also played a prevalent role in this year’s ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival, which proudly hosted the world premiere of
The Great Flood, a stirring multi-media work of original music by Bill Frisell and film by Bill Morrison inspired by the 1927 Mississippi River floods. My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden wowed the audience with a moving performance while folk-rocker Richard Thompson’s lightning fast playing left spectators breathless.

Luther Dickinson rounded out the festival lineup as ELLNORA’s first Artist-in-Residence, sitting in with Malian guitar great Vieux Farka Toure, Memphis bluesman Alvin Youngblood Hart, Brooklyn’s instrumental outfit Redhooker and lap-steel master Robert Randolph. Dickinson also sat down at ELLNORA to read a few handpicked passages from the soon-to-be-published memoirs from his late father, Jim Dickinson.

Since Keller Williams first appeared on the scene in the early ’90s, he has helped define the term independent artist. Looking at the diversity of his fall plans, you can certainly ascertain why. Look for Keller on tour through the end of the year in several of his various incarnations, including his newest collaboration – The Travelin’ McCourys Featuring Keller Williams – debuting this fall at Magnolia Fest, Voodoo Music Festival, and others. Also announced today, a New Year’s run: beginning December 28 at The Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina. Then on December 29 and 30 the show rolls to The National in Richmond, VA and Norfolk’s NorVa respectively, with Keller Williams on stage for one set solo and one set with his project Kdubalicious, plus very special guests The Pimps of Joytime. For New Year’s Eve, Keller & The Keels ring in 2012 at Brooklyn Performing Arts Center in Wilmington North Carolina. All four venues will also host a Keller Plays for Kids matinee performance earlier that day. Visit kellerwilliams.net for information and tickets.

Also in December, Keller Williams releases his 17th recording,
Bass, which is also Keller’s first-ever release playing only bass guitar. The lineup – dubbed Kdubalicious for live shows – features Keller on bass, Jay Starling on keyboards, and Mark D on drums. Additional details on the release of this reggae/ dub/ funk delight will be announced soon.

Brought together by equal parts mutual admiration and the desire to change the musical landscape while staying true to their roots,

About Kyle Hollingsworth:
Thirty years ago, Kyle Hollingsworth set out on a career in music. Since then, with a wealth of desire and incredible ability, Hollingsworth has established himself as a formidable and versatile music talent. Today, as a member of acclaimed jam masters The String Cheese Incident, Hollingsworth is revered by both peers and fans for his ability to write and perform in a mosaic of styles, from rock to classical, ragtime to bebop. Playing in SCI has allowed him unrestricted access to the world of music, and has bestowed on him the kind of fearlessness a composer needs to flirt with such disparate genres. Those who’ve seen SCI know the band can move from funk to bluegrass on a chord change. “In the jam world, where there are no set ways of doing things, we’re not afraid to move in and out of genres,” he says, “and because of that I’ve learned to be creative, not only on stage but in the studio. I can get on board with something pretty quickly. You have to.”

Hollingsworth’s 2009 release, titled Then There’s Now, finds the musician coming in to his own. With solid song material and a slamming new band, Kyle is making his mark in the new, always-evolving music scene. Then There’s Now delivers a blend of vocal and instrumental tunes and seamlessly displays his growth as a musician and as a songwriter.

Brooklyn-based producer/musician Eliot Lipp will make a special guest DJ appearance in The Do LaB room at turntable.fm today, Wednesday September 28, from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM PDT. Log in at http://turntable.fm/thedolab to hear Lipp spin his own playlist of current faves, as well as a few exclusive tracks from his forthcoming release - How We Do: Moves Made (October 4, 2011 / Old Tacoma Records). Look for Eliot Lipp on tour now in support of the release, including a show this Thursday, September 29 at Los Angeles’ King King – a Do LaB production featuring Lipp, Virtual Boy, and GoldRush.

A versatile talent respected in the competitive world of electronic music by being equally at ease with pushing forth the latest production techniques as well as with the time-honored – Lipp releases his latest recording, How We Do: Moves Made, on his own Old Tacoma Records imprint on October 4, 2011. Look for Lipp on tour this fall with stops in Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles and others. The complete list of tour dates is included below.

How We Do: Moves Made is borne out of a longtime friendship between Eliot Lipp and Jasia 10, and hearkens back to when they were kids, digging for grooves at House of Records in Tacoma, a meeting point that happened to be halfway between each of their childhood homes. They waded through countless stacks of obscure records in search of that one best moment to swipe and loop into a hip-hop beat, learning a lot about jazz, funk, G-funk, and other pillage-worthy sounds along the way.

Lipp’s seven-year strong discography includes releases for the Eastern Developments, Hefty, Metatronix, and Mush labels as well as his own label Old Tacoma Records, named after his hometown. Unlike the typical Old Tacoma release, which atypically pushes forth future frontiers with artists Dark Party, Leo 123, Mike Bubbles, and Sir Charles, as well as the label’s next release from Samples, How We Do: Moves Made exists in its own reminiscent funked-out space.

In that respect, various colorful threads of ideas for the album have been sewn for years, but when it came to How We Do: Moves Made, they wanted to make a record that sounded like those records they sampled, rather than the rap records that sampled those original cuts. And at one point, its creation was also based on a funny game.

“For each song, we were making these little jingles — kind of like the jingle or intro music at the beginning of a newscast,” Lipp explains. “We were making all of these little commercial-sounding tunes; all of them were like 20 seconds long, just little keyboard sketches. And that’s the way each one of these songs began. We got to a point where we didn’t need to include it in the album, but it turned into a thing where we’d begin each song with a little cheesy line, like a little synth melody, and then the challenge was to see if we could turn it into a full-length track that we were stoked on listening to it.”

Lipp has lived in New York for six years now, where he’s a part of a vibrant music community, and has lived in a lot of different cities, but he’s found that his travels have had an even greater impact on his art than his home base.

“I’ve been touring more often and further out over the last eight years and I feel like that’s influenced me in a big way. And getting involved in different scenes that I never set out to be a part of, that’s definitely opened me up to letting go of some of my [biases]. As a producer, I had such a long list of stuff that I wouldn’t do; I was really into one specific sound and wanted to really zoom in, and that can be really good for finding your sound. But breaking away from that was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Look for Eliot Lipp’s first solo album in three years to be released in the early part of 2012.

Brooklyn-based producer/musician Eliot Lipp today releases How We Do: Moves Made (October 4, 2011 / Old Tacoma Records). In support of the new release, Lipp announces more than 10 additional tour dates including stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles and the Midwest. The complete list of tour dates is included below.

A versatile talent respected in the competitive world of electronic music by being equally at ease with pushing forth the latest production techniques as well as with the time-honored. How We Do finds Lipp “On the cutting edge of beatwork.” (urb.com) The album pushes out fresh electronic music that reaches back to the golden age of American Soul, and “Eliot Lipp absolutely nails this marriage of sounds.” (StreetDate.Radio)

And getting involved in different scenes that I never set out to be a part of, that’s definitely opened me up to letting go of some of my [biases]. Grammy Award-winning guitarist and composer Bill Frisell and Obie-winning experimental filmmaker Bill Morrison recently premiered “The Great Flood,” - an electrifying, soulful, and thought provoking 75-minute multimedia work of original music and film inspired by the 1927 Mississippi River floods. Now, Frisell and Morrison take 'The Great Flood' on the road, stopping at select University and public venues across the country. The complete list of dates is listed below. The Great Flood premiered last month at ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival at the University of Illinois’ Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, and received a standing ovation for its stirring, contemporary perspective on this natural disaster and the ensuing transformation of American society and music. In the spring of 1927, the Mississippi River broke out of its banks in 145 places and inundated 27,000 square miles to a depth of up to 30 feet. Part of its enduring legacy was the mass exodus of displaced sharecroppers. Musically, the Great Migration of rural southern blacks to Northern cities saw the Delta Blues electrified and reinterpreted as the Chicago blues, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll.Members of the Illinois Emerging Digital Research and Education in Arts Media Institute (eDream) and the Advanced Visualization Laboratory (AVL) at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) collaborated with Morrison on the film, creating data-driven visualizations of the Mississippi River Valley showing the extent of the destructive floodwaters. “This was a novel collaboration between an inspired artist and data-visualization experts,” said Donna Cox, director of eDream and AVL.--'The Great Flood' is currently confirmed to stop in the following places:2011Thursday, November 3 – Dartmouth College, Hanover, NHFriday, November 4 – Zankel Hall, New York, NYSaturday, November 5 – Duke University, Durham, NC2012Saturday, March 31 – Wexner Center, Columbus, OHThursday, April 19 – UC San Diego, La Jolla, CASaturday, April 21 – SF Jazz, San Francisco, CA

Malbec marks the second full-length release for Samples, who is already one of the fastest growing names in electronic dance music. For Eliot Lipp, who recently released his own How We Do: Moves Made on the Old Tacoma imprint, it’s Samples’ appeal across scenes multiple electronic music styles to create his own unique voice that prompted Lipp to add him to the label’s small, hand-picked roster.Eliot Lipp and Samples first met while Lipp was on tour in Samples’ home state of Colorado. When the two collaborated for a tune on Lipp’s most recent remix project, “BroLabs Remix Project,” the bond of mutual respect for each other’s work was solidified. The rest is, as they say, history [in the making].Download for free now: “Shadow of Love” (from the upcoming new release Malbec), at www.oldtacomarecords.com and www.bensamples.com.About Samples:In just a few short years, Denver, CO native Ben Samples (aka Samples), has become “one of the staples when throwing around names in the glitch-hop and mid-tempo genres of music” (SubSynthesis). With the release of Malbec (November 8, 2011 / Old Tacoma Records), Samples continues to evolve a unique voice in electronic dance music. His musical style - which seamlessly crosses numerous electronic music labels and scenes - is anchored by original hip hop, bass hybrid beats, and incorporates amalgamations of Glitch Hop, Soulful Dub, Funky House and remixes of club, rock and hip hop favorites. With recording credits among scene influencers including Made in Glitch Records, Daly City Records, Simplify Recordings, True Movement as well as tracks on Muti Music, Run Riot Records, Car Crash Set, Mambo Records, Old Tacoma Records, Global Vortex, and BomBeatz, Samples is one of the most sought-after producers and remix artists in the Bass music scene. On December 13, 2011, Keller Williams delivers Bass, his 17th album. Starting with 1994’s Freek, Keller has done solo albums, live albums, one with The String Cheese Incident, another with Bob Weir, Michael Franti, Bela Fleck and a bunch of other personal heroes, a bluegrass covers album with Keller & The Keels, a children’s album, a remix album, and more. Here Keller shows off, you guessed it, his bass skills with his first record that finds the multi-instrumentalist only on bass guitar.Bass is also the first album to be recorded with Keller’s live reggae-funk band Kdubalicious. Formed in late 2010, in addition to Keller on bass and vocals, the group features Jay Starling on keyboards and Mark D on drums. Though Keller’s music, both what he listens to and what he puts out, may always be changing and evolving, there’s always one constant: his unique, playful songwriting. Bass is no different in that regard. This may be reggae music - with heavy doses of dub, funk, jazz and even bits of pop and psychedelia - but at the core, it’s a Keller Williams record, his warm voice and equally inviting attitude driving the positive vibrations.Since Keller Williams first appeared on the scene in the early ’90s, he has helped define the term independent artist. Looking at the diversity of his fall plans, you can certainly ascertain why. Look for Keller on tour through the end of the year in several of his various incarnations, including his newest collaboration – The Travelin’ McCourys Featuring Keller Williams – which debuted this fall at Magnolia Fest, Voodoo Music Festival, and others. Also recently announced, a New Year’s run: beginning December 28 at The Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina. Lagos, a collaboration between producers Radius and LEO123, releases its self-titled debut album on November 29, 2011, on Eliot Lipp’s “progressively minded beat music imprint” (Beatport) Old Tacoma Records. The music on Lagos undoubtedly reflects the individual origins of both Radius and LEO123 - from Chicago and Mexico City respectively. Taking many of their inspirations from 70′s Dub recordings and 80′s house music, Lagos also harnesses the pair’s musical expansion as a duo from Chicago, where they first met. The result is an expansive and focused sound that proudly continues the tradition of pioneering music born in one of the world’s greatest cities.Lagos Track Listing1) Radius1232) Medicated3) Heart4) Polyrythm5) (your thoughts)6) That StormAbout Radius:Radius has been making music and performing in Chicago since 2001. His debut full length, Neighborhood Suicide, was released in 2008 on The Secret Life of Sound Label. The album was very well received, receiving a shout out in the famed Amoeba Records’ Blog and making Chicago Tribune’s local “Best Of” list. The successes opened doors to other releases that followed, including Scatterbrain Tapes Vol.1 (on Chicago’s Plustapes label) and Etc. (on NYC’s Grittygoat). Using his signature MPC 1000 and a hand-picked selection of records, the music on these albums touch on so many influences. From Jazz, House, and Hip-Hop to outer space, his live performances became an extension of the music, experimenting and often improvising with a record player, a kaoss pad and his beats to create an unparalleled live electronic experience.About LEO123:From Mexico City, living in Chicago, LEO123 has been crafting slow Hip-Hop infused electronic sounds into original compositions, remixes and collaborations. As a member of the electronic duo Dark Party and through his own work, his music has been released by many of the top electronic labels including Ghostly International, Ninja Tune and his current home Old Tacoma Records. From his start in 2005, he was named one of URB Magazine’s “Next 100 Artists to Watch.” His recently released debut solo EP Ponies and full length as Dark Party Lightyears have been featured and applauded in Pitchfork, XLR8R, Turntable Lab and NPR. As a performer, LEO123 has been featured at Moog Fest, Avant Mutek, FMEL and SXSW among others, bringing his drum machines and synthesizers along to create a memorable live show for any audience.

No instrument has spoken in more voices to more people than the guitar, and no festival has sought out the modulations in those voices and the range of the guitar’s cultural expressions than the New York Guitar Festival.Following its many successes since 1999 (with rave reviews in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Jazz Times as well as sister festivals in Urbana, Illinois and Adelaide Australia), the New York Guitar Festival announces its 2012 season of concert performances, January 6 though January 29.The festival boasts over 35 exceptional guitarists of jazz, classical, rock, traditional, and avant-garde styles. Participating venues include The World Financial Center’s Winter Garden, Merkin Concert Hall, The 92nd Street Y, and Rockwood Music Hall. Concerts range from an all-day Guitar Marathon interpreting classical guitar music of Italian composers (featuring, among other internationally-famous musicians, Eliot Fisk, Bill Kanengiser, Jason Vieaux, Nigel North, and Hopkinson Smith) to tributes to the legendary jazz guitarist/composer Jim Hall and the influential musician/producer/visual artist Brian Eno.A new addition to the festival includes an Alternative Guitar Summit, curated by the guitarist/bandleader/composer Joel Harrison, and taking place at Rockwood Music Hall. Featured artists include Nels Cline (Wilco), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Mark Stewart, Liberty Elman, Dave Tronzo, and Ben Monder. Joel Harrison’s curatorial goals are “to present master improvisers, free-thinkers, those who reject category and style and are radically imaginative. Ideally they are under-appreciated and have not won any polls. I wish to present these players in unusual contexts, outside of their normal trio or quartet settings, mixing generations and approaches.”The festival also has a history of commissioning remarkable original works, and the 2012 season breaks yet more new ground by presenting 11 classic silent films by Buster Keaton accompanied by original scores performed live by a spectacularly rich and varied coterie of guitarists including Kaki King, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, Keller Williams and Gyan Riley. The New York Guitar Festival was founded in 1999 by musician/producer David Spelman, who serves as its Artistic Director. The Festival’s goal is to broaden the public’s appreciation for the guitar by fostering emerging talent, supporting innovative collaborations among outstanding artists, and commissioning new works. In addition to producing concerts and radio broadcasts, its Guitar Harvest series of recordings supports outreach programs in New York City public schools. CONCERT SCHEDULE:World Financial Center’s Winter GardenBattery Park City, bordered by West Street, the Hudson River, Vesey and Liberty Streets. His wildly popular family concerts regularly sell out venues like Carnegie Hall. For the NYGF, Zanes premieres his original score for Buster Keaton’s 1928 silent film Steamboat Bill, Jr., in which a young Mississippi steamboat captain falls in love with the daughter of his father’s business rival. “Buster Keaton’s movies always look to me like the most graceful sculpture I’ve ever seen but which upon close examination is only a pile of driftwood and bent nails. I hope to reflect that in my music” commented Dan Zanes.Gyan Riley, whose diverse work focuses on his own compositions, improvisation and contemporary classical repertoire, performs as a soloist and in various ensembles, including performances with Zakir Hussain, Dawn Upshaw, the San Francisco Symphony, the Falla Guitar Trio, the World Guitar Ensemble and his dad, the composer/pianist/vocalist Terry Riley. At Merkin he will premiere a score for Buster Keatons' The Goat (1921), in which Keaton's character gets mistaken for a murderer with a price on his head.Merkin Concert HallGoodman House, 129 West 67th StreetTickets and information: 212-501-3330kaufman-center.orgThursday, January 12, 7:30 p.m.Silent Films/Live Guitars:• Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth & Buster Keaton's Cops (1922)• Kaki King & Buster Keaton's The Scarecrow (1920)• Buke & Gase (Buster Keaton film TBA)Co-founder of the alternative rock band Sonic Youth, Lee Ranaldo is #33 on Rolling Stone's list of “Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” He will perform the New York premiere of an original score (commissioned by the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts) to Buster Keaton’s 1922 silent film Cops, a short comedy about a young man who gets on the bad side of the Los Angeles Police Department during a parade and is chased all over town. Keaton’s response to the 1921 Fatty Arbuckle scandal - the actor/director was accused of assaulting and accidentally killing a woman, a charge that ended his career even though he was eventually acquitted by a jury - Cops portrays a well-intentioned man who just can’t win, no matter hard he tries. Lee Ranaldo commented "normally I couple my abstract guitar explorations with equally abstract films, but in this case I'm really looking forward to applying the sounds I make to the magical world of Buster Keaton films and his distinctive brand of physical comedy. It should be an interesting and unexpected combination..."The sole woman and the youngest artist in Rolling Stone's 2006 list of "The New Guitar Gods" list, Kaki King collaborated with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder on the Golden Globe-nominated soundtrack for Sean Penn’s Into the Wild. She will perform an original score to Buster Keaton’s 1920 short comedy Scarecrow, in which Keaton plays a young man whose pursuit of a farmer’s daughter takes an unexpected turn when he falls into a hay thresher and ruins his clothes.Rockwood Music Hall196 Allen StreetTickets and information: 212-477-4155www.rockwoodmusichall.comAlternative Guitar SummitA series of alternative guitar music curated by guitarist/composer/arranger/bandleader Joel Harrison.Friday, January 13:7:30- 8:10- Mark Stewart (guitar) and Gyan Riley (guitar)8:20- 8:50- Joel Harrison (guitar) and Anupam Shobhakar (sarod)9:00- 9:40- Ben Monder (guitar) and Pete Rende (Keyboards) play the music of songwriting legend Jimmy Webb.9:50- 10:45- Pillow Wand; Nels Cline (guitar) and Thurston Moore (guitar) Saturday, January 14:7:30-8:15- Knox Chandler (guitar and effects) and Ismail Lawal (drums)8:25- 9:10- Dave Tronzo (guitar) and Jay Granelli (bass)9:20- 10:05- Liberty Ellman (guitar) and Vijay Iyer (piano)Sunday, January 15, 8 – 11pmAs part of our alt-guitar summit, NYGF presents a tribute to the jazz guitar legend Jim Hall. I am enchanted by Buster Keaton’s humor, darkness, lightness, romance and sorrow. This will be a delight to score and give me the opportunity to think about dreams and about believing in the impossible.”"In my two decades of making music, I'm not sure that I've ever felt quite so challenged and inspired," says Keller Williams. Music's "mad scientist" will perform an original score to Buster Keaton’s One Week, a short comedy about newlyweds who receive a build-it-yourself house that can supposedly be built in one week. "It's been exciting, and a little scary, to embark on such a unique project," says Williams." I hope the audience feels that energy during the performance."Since he first appeared on the scene in the early ’90s, Williams has defined the term independent artist. And his 16 recordings tell only half the story. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances, no two of which are ever alike. Williams’ solo live shows—and his ability to improvise to his determinedly quirky tunes despite the absence of an actual band—quickly became the stuff of legend, and his audience grew exponentially when word spread about this exciting, unpredictable performer. Today, most often performing as a one-man band (a stage show constructed around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs while accompanying himself on an acoustic guitar connected to a Gibson Echoplex delay system that allows him to simulate a full band), Keller always reveals himself as an artist of great stylistic breadth and infinite imagination. He is a singer, songwriter and musician, always on a quest for the new. Keller Williams has never followed the prescribed path laid out by the conventional music business but rather one of his own making.Redhooker is a "dreamy mixed consort" (New York Times) led by the classically-trained guitarist Stephen Griesgraber. He will be joined by band members Maxim Moston, Ben Lively and Peter Hess in the performance of a collaboratively composed score for guitar, violins, bass clarinet and electronics for Buster Keaton's Neighbors, a comedy about young lovers and a family feud.Merkin Concert HallGoodman House, 129 West 67th StreetTickets and information: 212-501-3330 kaufman-center.orgThursday, January 19, 7:30 p.m.Silent Films/Live Guitars:• Califone & Buster Keaton's Go West (1925)• Howard Fishman & Buster Keaton's The Frozen North (1922)Califone, the Chicago-based experimental rock band whose music the New York Times called “enthralling,” are known for their 11 albums and the independent film All My Friends Are Funeral Singers, which premiered at Sundance in 2010. They will perform an original score to Buster Keaton’s Go West, in which a small-town young man, overwhelmed by a brief taste of life in New York City, tries his luck as a cowboy on a ranch. Califone's Tim Rutilli commented: “Califone scoring music for a Buster Keaton film makes almost too much sense. We will try to capture the inner stillness and the outer chaos on Buster’s migration west. Perfect.”A pioneer of the Brooklyn music scene and “an important force in creative music” (allmusic.com), acclaimed singer, guitarist, composer and bandleader Howard Fishman filters a deep passion for New Orleans jazz, Brooklyn soul, open-hearted country, gritty rock and Southern gospel music through a completely original, experimental aesthetic, to create a sound entirely his own. The New York Times has written that his music “transcends time and idiom.”92nd Street YLexington Avenue at 92nd StreetTickets and information: 212-415-5500 / www.92Y.orgSunday, January 29, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a break at 5 p.m.The Guitar Marathon: Bell’ItaliaOur 6th biannual Guitar Marathon at the 92nd Street Y’s Kaufman Auditorium is co-curated by Eliot Fisk and the NYGF’s David Spelman. The warmth and splendor of Italy has inspired guitarists and composers for five centuries. Our day-long celebration of Italian guitar music, from the Renaissance and Baroque to Berio and the music of today, as performed by artists including Eliot Fisk, Bill Kanengiser, Connie Sheu, Dale Kavanagh, Emanuele Segre, Jason Vieaux, Nigel North, Hopkinson Smith, Pino Forastiere, The Harlem Quartet, and Lionheart. Some of today’s finest classical guitarists and lutenists will reveal the different facets of the music of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. The event runs from 2—10pm, with a break at 5pm. “An epic event” is how the The Wall Street Journal classified our first Marathon, and Jazz Times called it “a veritable guitar orgy.” Half and full-day tickets will be available in August. Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Keller Williams today releases Bass - his 17th album and the first to feature him only on bass guitar. Also today, and in-line with his always prolific and diverse musical talents, Keller announces a run of spring shows with his latest collaboration, The Travelin’ McCourys Featuring Keller Williams – including stops in Colorado on April 12, 13, and 14.

For Bass Keller shows off, you guessed it, his bass skills with his first record that finds the multi-instrumentalist only on bass guitar.

Bass is also the first album to be recorded with Keller’s live reggae-funk band Kdubalicious. This may be reggae music - with heavy doses of dub, funk, jazz and even bits of pop and psychedelia - but at the core, it’s a Keller Williams record, his warm voice and equally inviting attitude driving the positive vibrations.

Look for Keller on tour in 2012 in any of his various incarnations, including his newest collaboration – The Travelin’ McCourys Featuring Keller Williams – which debuted this fall at Magnolia Fest, Voodoo Music Festival, and others. Brought together by equal parts mutual admiration and the desire to change the musical landscape while staying true to their roots, The Travelin’ McCourys Featuring Keller Williams are a perfect - albeit unexpected - fit. The two have a lot in common after all: their high energy, ever-evolving live shows, their individual playing prowess, and their strong and unique song writing skills. It’s a perfect marriage of instrumental virtuosos, memorable songwriting, infectious musical camaraderie, and undeniable energy. And with both acts known to bring epic and spontaneous live collaborations to theaters and festivals across America – The Travelin' McCourys Featuring Keller Williams take this collaborative spirit one step further, bringing something fresh and unexpected to the live stage. The first 2012 dates are announced today – a spring run in the mountains of Colorado (April 12, 13 and 14) – with more dates to be announced in the coming months.

French–born guitar virtuoso Stephane Wrembel - whose original theme song for Woody Allen’s smash hit Midnight in Paris is currently topping charts - today announces the 2012 Django A Go-Go Festival celebrating the life and music of fellow Frenchman and jazz guitar legend Django Reinhardt. The wildly popular event has been an annual New York City tradition since 2005, and this year goes on the road into neighboring markets including Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Albany, D.C. and others. The tour launches January 20 and 21 (including a special 4 PM 3-Guitar matinee performance of music from the Films of Woody Allen) at its venue of origin - NYC’s Joe’s Pub - and hits six cities thereafter. The complete list of 2012 Django A Go-Go Festival stops is included below.Wrembel - who has been called “a revelation” (Rolling Stone) embodying "a John Coltrane-ish search for a moment of musical nirvana” (Variety) - welcomes a slew of special guests for 2012 Django A Go-Go Festival stops, including jazz guitar legend Howard Alden and Oklahoman violin kingpin Kyle Dillingham. Also expect rare U.S. appearances by Spanish guitar genius Biel Ballester, with Frenchmen Sebastian Felix on guitar and John Intrator on violin. Wrembel, Alden and Biel last collaborated together in 2008 when they scored the soundtrack to the Golden Globe winning film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. This special night of music will include the music Django made famous during his life, as well as original music from the catalogs of all the players. From “Dark Eyes” to “Nuages”, these masters will add their own creative spin to each of Django's tunes, revealing clues about how Stephane Wrembel & company will be accompanied by Stephane’s band: Roy Williams on guitar, David Speranza on bass, Nick Anderson on drums, and the one and only David Langlois on washboard, fondue pot and musical saw!In 2011, Stephane Wrembel was commissioned (for the second time) by famed filmmaker Woody Allen to compose an original theme song for his new film Midnight In Paris. The resulting tune, entitled “Bistro Fada,” is a favorite on the soundtrack, which is currently at #1 on iTunes’ Soundtracks Chart and at #20 and climbing on iTunes’ Album Chart. The success of the soundtrack and film has brought Stephane’s music, and his astonishing talent, to a worldwide audience. Check out this video of “Bistro Fada” performed at Barbes in Brooklyn, NY in Fall 2011.What audiences might not yet know is the breadth of Wrembel’s musical inspiration, and his vision on where it will take his music next. Look for Stephane Wrembel to release his fifth studio album, and embark on a nationwide tour, later this year. 2012 Django A Go-Go Festival dates are as follows:Friday, January 20 Joe's Pub New York, NY (8:00PM and 10:00PM shows)Saturday, January 21 Joe's Pub New York, NY (7:00PM and 9:00PM shows)plus a very special 4 PM Special 3-Guitar Matinee: Stephane Wrembel, Howard Alden andBiel Ballester Performing Music from the Films of Woody Allen Wednesday, January 25 Regatta Bar Jazz Boston, MAThursday, January 26 The Egg Albany, NYFriday, January 27 Philadelphia Museum of Art Philadelphia, PASaturday, January 28 The Whitaker Center Harrisburg, PASunday, January 29 The Birchmere Washington, DCFor tickets and information visit www.stephanewrembel.comLook for Stephane Wrembel and his band to announce February tour dates soon. About Stephane Wrembel:One could call Stephane Wrembel a nomad, a gypsy, a world traveler, for the music he plays and his lifestyle are expressions of the Gypsy way of life.Born in Paris and raised in Fontainebleau, home of impressionism and Django Reinhardt's music. Wrembel was classically trained in a music conservatory starting at age four. Stephane's life took a decisive turn in his late teens when he first discovered the music of Django Reinhardt and the Gypsies. He spent the next ten years of his life learning, playing, and expanding on this musical tradition. This hard work gave Wrembel the technique, but the time spent playing around the campfires and trailers of the Gypsies gave him the soul - both necessary ingredients for him to master his art form. Stephane's education continued at the Berklee School of Music where after studying contemporary jazz and world music he graduated summa cum-laude. Soon after he moved to New York City to live and continue his career. Like New York, Stephane is always in motion, always searching and never stopping in his quest for a new sound.www.stephanewrembel.com

Cloud 9 Adventures – the team behind music travel experiences Jam Cruise, Holy Ship!, Mayan Holidaze and Panic en la Playa – gives back to the communities they visit via their non-profit organization Positive Legacy. For Jam Cruise’s recent 10th sailing, the MSC Poesia visited ports in Haiti and Jamaica where Positive Legacy partnered with various organizations on humanitarian and environmental outreach projects to benefit the specific needs of both communities. In Haiti, Positive Legacy is proud to have teamed up with Soles4Souls – with contributions from One World Running and Nike, and donations from Jam Cruise passengers – to deliver 12,200 pairs of shoes to the people of Haiti. Also with the help of Jam Cruise passengers, Positive Legacy donated 2,000 pairs of new socks; both the shoes and socks will be distributed to Haitian communities in need for months to come.“Our mission has always been to help individuals improve their lives through the gift of footwear. Jam Cruise and Positive Legacy have allowed us a new opportunity to impact individuals not only in the developing country, but also through the passengers aboard the ship,” said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. “We couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome than 12,000 lives changed through the hope that proper footwear provides,” he added. An important part of Positive Legacy’s mission is moving communities toward sustainability. In partnership with Sustainable Organic Integrated Livelihoods and Trees, Water & People, Positive Legacy and Jam Cruise passengers led the charge in seeding 6,000 citrus trees in Labadee, Haiti that will move to the now 10,000 seedling nursery at SOIL's rural compost site in Limonade, Haiti. JC10 represented the festival’s most ambitious carbon offsetting effort to date, as the establishment of this nursery will lead to a healthier environment, and increased tree cover in Northern Haiti.Positive Legacy is also providing $9,000 to Haiti Village Health to improve sanitary conditions at their clinic, which up until now has been providing primary care services to 25,000 people without any running water. Construction of a well and septic system is currently under way, and the funding from Positive Legacy will provide for bathrooms with plumbing to sinks and toilets, and a new roof on the clinic. For more information on the important work of Positive Legacy, please visit www.positivelegacy.com.About Positive Legacy:Positive Legacy’s mission is to create meaningful opportunities for musicians and fans and inspire them to do outreach projects together, give back through donations, participate in humanitarian and environmentally inspired service activities, and better the lives of those who inhabit the communities visited while traveling and attending music events around the globe. For more than 30 years, Jerry Joseph has been strapping on a guitar and chasing down truth, understanding and soul with tenacity and resonant skill. Joseph is the archetypal musician’s musician - something that’s resoundingly clear on his sweeping new double album Happy Book, to be released March 20, 2012 on Response Records. Look for Joseph and his band to tour this spring in support of the album’s release. The list of currently confirmed tour dates is listed below – with many others still to be announced.Captured with muscle and blood by Joseph’s longtime trio The Jackmormons, Happy Book presents Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons at their most diverse and confident; it’s a record with a wide swing that dexterously moves from whisper closeness to Technicolor expansiveness. Produced by Joseph’s former Little Women band mate Gregg Williams (Dandy Warhols, Blitzen Trapper), Happy Book is an emotional and sonic wallop fueled by the tightest, tastiest playing the Jackmormons have ever captured in the studio. “After 17 years, this album brings together a lot of things I’ve always wanted on a record,” explains Joseph. “This sounds like a band that’s been together 17 years and has evolved along the way.” Happy Book incorporates horns and other choice elements from guests - Jenny Conlee-Drizos and Chris Funk (The Decemberists), Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), Dan Eccles (Richmond Fontaine), Wally Ingram, Little Sue Weaver and Paul Brainard - into The Jackmormons’ tight-knit chemistry to create an expansive work that captures Joseph’s startlingly broad musical range in a roughly graceful, swiftly intoxicating way.The currently confirmed list of tour dates for Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons is as follows:Friday, March 16 Dante's Portland ORSaturday, March 17 Player's Bar and Grill Bend ORSunday, March 18 Sam Bond's Garage Eugene ORWednesday, March 21 Great Northern Bar Whitefish MTThursday, March 22 The Palace Missoula MTFriday, March 23 - Saturday, March 24 Whiskey Jack's Big Sky MTFriday, April 6 - Saturday, April 7 The Mint Los Angeles CAWednesday, April 11 Moe's Alley Santa Cruz CAThursday, April 12 Cafe du Nord San Francisco CAFriday, April 13 Mystic Theatre Petaluma CASaturday, April 14 Humboldt Brews Arcata CAAdditional dates to be announced.

He’s been called “a revelation” by Rolling Stone. Woody Allen recruited him to score the theme for last year’s smash film Midnight in Paris, and he performed his original song “Bistro Fada” live during last night’s Academy Awards ceremony. Check out his red carpet interview with Oscars.com.To say that French-born guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel—who learned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside of Fontainebleau—has already had a remarkable career would be an understatement. But this virtuoso, who is now Brooklyn-based, has truly just begun to make his mark as one of the most original guitar voices in contemporary music. On May 15, 2012, Stephane Wrembel delivers Origins, his fifth and most highly anticipated release yet.Presciently titled, the album, which Wrembel recorded with his band—bassist Dave Speranza, rhythm guitarist Roy Williams, drummer Nick Anderson and percussionist David Langlois—finds the multi-faceted musician corralling all of his myriad influences into a hybrid that simultaneously reflects where he’s been and points to where he’s headed. Although he built his reputation as a stylist in the mode of the iconic French Sinti guitarist Django Reinhardt, Wrembel now revels in transcending and expanding. “I’m digging deeper and deeper into my roots,” he says about the album.Although Wrembel certainly loves paying homage to his roots—hence the title Origins—and was happy to oblige when Allen’s producer requested “a work that would remind of the magic of Paris” for the Oscar-nominated Midnight in Paris, he is in no way bound to his own past. Origins touches upon everything from blues to flamenco to rock; all of these influences come together as something identifiable only as Stephane Wrembel.“I just play my own music,” he says. “I like to believe that it is beyond any one genre and that there is something in it for everyone. It’s not only for the rock music lover, or for the Django lover; it’s not only for the jazz lover, or for just young people or old people. It’s for the music lover.” Indeed, Origins is the most sophisticated representation to date of Wrembel’s superior compositional skills. Fleshed out by the superb musicians in his band, Wrembel’s melodies burst with panoply of textures and colors, moods and emotions.“It’s a different state of mind altogether,” adds Wrembel, talking about Origins. “I always compose with a picture in mind. That Impressionism approach is the main thing that I’ve carried with me from Fontainebleau.”Upcoming tour dates for Stephane Wrembel and his Band include:

The String Cheese Incident announced their summer tour plans today. The complete list of shows is listed below. Tickets go on sale beginning March 6 through the band’s website, free of all ticket service fees.A post on the band’s website reads:Greetings from The String Cheese Incident Headquarters….the management team has been hard at work, racking our brains to try and come up with a couple of new and creative ideas for the Barefoot Boys that will properly capture the feeling of excitement we all get when we look ahead to Summer 2012…..we came up with a massive list of ideas that ranged from shooting Billy out of a cannon to having Kyle brew up a pool full of Summer Ale and inviting all of Boulder over for a swim…..unfortunately many of these ideas proved to either be prohibitively expensive, logistically impossible or just downright dumb…..however, we are pleased to report that we did come up with a couple that we wanted to share with everyone.First, the most exciting thing we have seen sweep across the cultural landscape in the last couple of months has been the mania induced by New York Knick point guard Jeremy Lin….As Mr. Lin is often referred to by the global media as “the Michael Kang of Basketball” we felt that it was only fair for us to return the favor. Therefore, from this moment forth, the band will now be known as The String Cheese Lincident…. Not only are we thrilled by the obvious media boost this will provide for the band but think of the merch possibilities…..Lincredible!!The second idea we are going to roll out this summer is one that we have actually been working on for a very long time. Way back in the summer of 2003, the band filed a lawsuit in Federal Court against Ticketmaster. The basic gist of the lawsuit was that the band wanted to maintain the ability to sell a large amount of tickets directly to the fans with the intention of keeping the service charge as reasonable as possible. Some very pointed discussions took place, the issue was resolved and the band continued selling tickets as they had always done. Fast forward to today and pay attention…..this is the exciting part….The String Cheese Incident is proud to announce that we have figured out a way to finally achieve the ultimate goal with this whole ticketing exercise…. The Summer Tour of 2012 will be SERVICE CHARGE FREE. A quarter-century is a long time for any band to stick together, but Big Head Todd & The Monsters not only remain intact (Mohr, bassist Rob Squires and drummer Brian Nevin have been at it since their University of Colorado days and keyboardist, steel guitarist and background vocalist Jeremy Lawton joined in 2004) but continue to evolve, fine-tune and surprise. With more than a dozen albums and countless live gigs to their credit, BHTM—with their signature mix of funky rock and blues, soul, country, folk and jazz, Caribbean and African rhythms and more—inspired one newspaper critic to enthuse, “Ah, so this is what a stick of dynamite feels like!”

Since the heady early years of such hit albums as Midnight Radio and Sister Sweetly, and with more recent endeavors like 2010’s critically acclaimed back-to-the-roots Rocksteady and last year’s loving tribute to the father of the blues, 100 Years of Robert Johnson, Big Head Todd & The Monsters have always sought out new routes to explore. “We don’t know where it’s going, but it’s going where it’s supposed to go,” founding guitarist and lead vocalist Todd Park Mohr once told an interviewer, and that philosophy sums up BHTM’s open-to-all-possibilities approach perfectly.

Tomorrow, Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons release a sweeping new double album, Happy Book. In conjunction with street date, Response Records re-releases three classic works from the band’s hefty discography - Goodlandia (2000), Into The Lovely (2006), and Badlandia (2010). Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons launched their spring tour this past weekend with three shows in their home state of Oregon. The complete list of currently confirmed tour dates is included below. For more than 30 years, Jerry Joseph has been strapping on a guitar and chasing down truth, understanding and soul with tenacity and resonant skill. Until now, Joseph’s nearly 20 releases have only been available in the U.S. through Joseph’s own Cosmo Sex School Records. But with growing worldwide demand for Joseph's unique brand of Rock & Roll (he recently blogged from his month long tour throughout Southeast Asia), Response Records has begun the task of getting Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons discs into Europe, Asia and Australia - both in stores and online.Jerry Joseph is the archetypal musician’s musician - something that’s resoundingly clear on his sweeping new double album Happy Book. Captured with muscle and blood by Joseph’s longtime trio The Jackmormons, Happy Book presents Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons at their most diverse and confident; it’s a record with a wide swing that dexterously moves from whisper closeness to Technicolor expansiveness. “This sounds like a band that’s been together 17 years and has evolved along the way.” Happy Book incorporates horns and other choice elements from guests - Jenny Conlee-Drizos and Chris Funk (The Decemberists), Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), Dan Eccles (Richmond Fontaine), Wally Ingram, Little Sue Weaver and Paul Brainard - into The Jackmormons’ tight-knit chemistry to create an expansive work that captures Joseph’s startlingly broad musical range in a roughly graceful, swiftly intoxicating way.The list of confirmed tour dates for Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons is as follows:Tuesday, March 20 John's Alley Moscow IDWednesday, March 21 Great Northern Bar Whitefish MTThursday, March 22 The Palace Missoula MTFriday, March 23 - Saturday, March 24 Whiskey Jack's Big Sky MTThursday, April 5 Winston's Beach Club San Diego CAFriday, April 6 - Saturday, April 7 The Mint Los Angeles CATuesday, April 10 Audie's Olympic Fresno CAWednesday, April 11 Moe's Alley Santa Cruz CAThursday, April 12 Cafe du Nord San Francisco CAFriday, April 13 Mystic Theatre Petaluma CASaturday, April 14 Humboldt Brews Arcata CAAdditional dates to be announced.

For the past decade, Jam Cruise has been delivering a musical experience like no other. Whether it's listening to a late night pool deck performance while sitting in a hot tub, hanging with 100 of your closest friends on a private tropical beach, delivering pallets of donated shoes to smiling children in need, or chatting with one of your musical heroes while your eating dinner - Jam Cruise is full of moments when you can't help but stop and ask yourself "is this really happening?" But yes, it is happening, and it's what has kept fans coming back again and again for over ten years.Picked as a favorite by The Travel Channel in their US Music Festival Guide, Jam Cruise offers more than just a music festival. “By taking the music to the seas, Jam Cruise makes the music festival a full-blown vacation. When you set sail from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, enjoy all the amenities of a cruise and see your favorite jam bands while making stops in [exotic] locales.”There is a feeling of being in another world on Jam Cruise, which this years sets sail from Ft. Lauderdale, FL on January 7th and returns on the 12th. With port stops in the beautiful Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos, where crystal clear waters meet soft sandy beaches, and a stop at Coco Cay, a Private Island in the Bahamas, Jam Cruise lets you get away from it all in beautiful, remote locations. The music doesn’t stop in port though; Coco Cay will be host to a Beach Party highlighted by waterside musical performances. The MSC Poesia remains home to Jam Cruise 11, where venues like the Zebra Bar, the Teatro Carlo Felice and the Pigalle feel like home to returning guests. Cabins go on sale to the public Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at noon EST. Today French-born guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel releases his brand new studio album, Origins. He’ll also launch his spring/summer tour this week, with CD release shows at Joe’s Pub in New York City on Thursday, May 17 and at Brooklyn’s Barbes on Sunday, May 20.Already Origins is being hailed for eloquently demonstrating Wrembel’s singular sound and his unique ability to wrap “sumptuous string arrangements around folk, rock and jazz concepts that reveal masterful skill.” (StreetDate) For his recent visit to WNYC’s “Soundcheck” Studios with John Schaeffer, Wrembel and his band performed songs from Origins. Click here for live video and audio from the WNYC session. He’s been called “a revelation” by Rolling Stone. Woody Allen recruited him to score the theme for last year’s smash film Midnight in Paris, and he performed his original song “Bistro Fada” live at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. Wrembel’s playing is “blinding fast and relentlessly graceful” (The Daily Gazette) and his compositions are full of “soulful lyricism and melodic flair” (Washington Post). To say that Wrembel—who learned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside of Fontainebleau—has already had a remarkable career would be an understatement. But this virtuoso, who is now Brooklyn-based, has truly just begun to make his mark as one of the most original guitar voices in contemporary music.Presciently titled, Origins, which Wrembel recorded with his band—bassist Dave Speranza, rhythm guitarist Roy Williams, drummer Nick Anderson and percussionist David Langlois—finds the multi-faceted musician corralling all of his myriad influences into a hybrid that simultaneously reflects where he’s been and points to where he’s headed. Pick, to be released July 3, 2012 on SCI Fidelity Records, is the debut collaboration of Keller Williams and The Travelin’ McCourys. Pre-Orders for the album begin May 18th at kellermccoury.com (also kellerwilliams.net and travelinmccourys.com).

Those who pre-order Pick automatically get 2 entries into the Pick Me! sweepstakes, where one lucky person will win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Nashville to hang with Keller, Del and The Travelin’ McCourys at their just-announced 2012 New Year’s Eve extravaganza at Marathon Music Works. Pick Me! and New Year’s Eve show details available at www.kellermccoury.com

It’s only after you hear Pick that you come to the inescapable realization that this is a meeting that was predestined. Williams, the über-distinctive singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who’s been described as a “one-man band for the new millennium,” is a tireless musical seeker for whom repetition is never an option. And The Travelin’ McCourys - bluegrass royalty nonpareil with a sharp eye toward innovation - have similarly been dubbed “twenty-first century musical pilgrims and adventurers.”

Pick, is a classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts—although the parts are rather massive on their own, to be sure. Recorded at Nashville’s famed Butcher Shoppe studios, the album’s dozen songs (both originals and covers) fully realize Americana music’s long storytelling tradition, and the impeccable musicianship displayed on Pick captures all of the heart and heartache of the bluegrass genre—and then some: Williams’ unconventional songwriting takes on even greater weight when backed by The Travelin’ McCourys’ emotive tones. Inspired by Keller’s fearless creativity, The Travelin’ McCourys’ flawless playing gains new depth.

Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys will perform together at select summer festivals. The list of these very special shows is included below.

“I can hardly believe what a blast this collaboration has been so far,” says Williams. “To be in the presence of The Travelin' McCourys is to be in the presence of greatness. Sometimes you'll catch us trying not to smile when we play, just to make sure that at least some of the time the music takes precedence over the joy of playing it!”

With decades on the bluegrass circuit under their belt, The Travelin’ McCourysRob McCoury on banjo, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin, Jason Carter on fiddle and Alan Bartram on bass—approach their craft with simultaneous reverence for the bluegrass tradition (Ronnie and Rob are the sons of bluegrass icon Del McCoury) and an insatiable desire to move the music forward. Their tight rhythmic sense, jaw-dropping chops and soulful material, performed with an unshakable confidence, takes bluegrass from the safe confines of its predetermined shore into uncharted waters. They’ve played with the Allman Brothers Band, Phish, Warren Haynes and the Lee Boys—not exactly bluegrassers—and are constantly looking for new ways to redefine themselves.

“We like to play traditional bluegrass music the way we do it with Dad, but we also like to be able to step into situations where we can really stretch out,” Ronnie told JamBase. “If we need to plug in, we’ll plug in. We’re open to anything.”

That they were open to teaming with Keller Williams is no surprise. Over the course of his two-decade career, Williams has ceaselessly followed his singular muse, both in a live setting—where he might accompany himself on any number of instruments and electronics—and in the studio, where he’s recorded everything from reggae to rock to experimental music to children’s songs to, of course, bluegrass. Thief, Keller’s 2010 recording with the Keels, reached number #1 on Billboard’s bluegrass chart while last year’s Bass found him utilizing only that instrument throughout the album. Predictability? Not in his vocabulary.

On Pick, Keller Williams—armed this time only with acoustic guitar and a microphone—and The Travelin’ McCourys shine on a dozen tracks that perfectly demonstrate their collective reach, including several new Williams and band-written originals and a handful of surprise but choice covers, including My Morning Jacket’s “Amazed,” Steve Earle’s “The Graveyard Shift” and singer-songwriter Jessie J’s “Price Tag.” The album’s finale, Williams’ “Bumper Sticker,” benefits from a special guest appearance by the man himself, the 73-year-old legend Del McCoury. While the familiar elements of both Keller’s and the McCourys’ music are all in place, the sound that emerges from the troupe collectively takes all of the participants into fresh musical places, where tunefulness meets mystery, virtuosity, daring and a blast of a good time.

Pick is about good pickin’, but it’s about something more: what transpires when two seemingly disparate musical entities find that they have something special to say when they join forces. Pick will surely go down as one of the top picks of 2012 by many an awestruck fan and discriminating critic.

Danielle Anderson, who makes a living writing and performing folk songs as Danielle Ate the Sandwich, today releases her new album, Like a King (June 5, 2012/Youngest Daughter Records). The new music video for the album’s first single - “Faith in a Man” – is posted now on Danielle’s YouTube homepage. Look for Danielle on tour this summer in support of Like a King.

Danielle’s music has appeared on web sites including
Daytrotter, College Humor and NPR and in every major publication in Denver and her native northern Colorado. She’s been touring across the US for over three years. Her mega popular You Tube channel has garnered nearly 6 million views. When Danielle set out to raise $6,000 on Kickstarter for the recording and production of the new album in early 2012, her fans gave her a mandate of $16,236 instead.

Like A King is Danielle’s best collection of songs to date. She has three previous releases including 2010’s Two Bedroom Apartment, which landed at the top of numerous year-end “best of” lists. She’s a striking lyricist; hers is the artful arrangement of words that doesn’t look much like Art at all when you type them out; “The Have Nots” is an aching epic of a song and its lynchpin is the line, “My grandma knows where she’s going/and me, I have no idea.”

You really have to hear her sing those words to find the extent of their impact. The way she articulates, the way she swells into the front half and falters in the second. Danielle has a way of singing that puts her right there with you in the car or sitting nearby. Live, when she is actually right there, the sensation is transporting. She can take distracted rooms and have them suddenly holding their collective breath.

It’s not that her music is placating. Much of
Like A King is deeply unsettling, in fact – many of the songs deal with losing power in horrible little strokes. These are not battles lost but rather foes who never even noticed you were there: An auto mechanic preying on your inexperience, a lover who wishes you were someone else, a realization too late.

Like A King marks a considerably larger leap from Danielle’s usual solo performance. The album features performances by seven musicians, including Chris Jusell on violin, viola, bells, shakers and typewriter, Jon Powers on drums, Scott McCormick on piano, organ and accordion, Ron Miles (Bill Frisell, Elvis Costello, Ginger Baker) on trumpet, Greg Tanner Harris (the Vibes Quintet, Pete Wernick’s Flexigrass) on vibraphone, John Macy on steel guitar and Dennis Bigelow on bass, concertina and bones. “My songs are small and simple, and the players on this record helped me bring them to life,” says Danielle. “It's a newer thing to me to share my space. I really appreciate that they never ran away with the songs. They always rode their bikes in the sidewalk in front of the house.”

Danielle Ate the Sandwich is on tour throughout the summer - this time as a trio, with Chris Jusell on violin and Dennis Bigelow on bass. The complete list of currently confirmed Danielle Ate the Sandwich tour dates is as follows:

Sunday, June 10 Bluebird Theatre Denver CO CD Release Show!

The 14th Annual NedFest in Nederland, CO is only weeks away and the festival will feature the first time collaboration of longtime music friends and colleagues Keller Williams, Kyle Hollingsworth, Steve Kimock and Dave Watts. The three-day outdoor music, arts and microbrew festival features bluegrass, jazz, jam and world music, making this fusion a natural fit to close out the weekend.

In other Keller-collaboration news, the ever-prolific Williams has just released Pick (July 3, 2012/SCI Fidelity Records) with The Travelin’ McCourys.

As always, the ever-prolific Keller Williams will perform this summer in several of his many incarnations. Look for Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys at select summer festivals. Plus, catch Williams’ solo show, at a handful of dates as Keller and The Keels, and with his funkiest outfit to date, Kdubalicious. Keller Williams today unveils an upcoming season jam-packed with shows - performing both solo and with his myriad of collaborations - and several dates loaded with very special guests. In late December, Keller & Friends host an “End of the World Party” in Keystone, CO on the 21st and - yes - the 22nd of December. For New Year’s Eve, Keller joins with Del McCoury and the The Travelin’ McCourys in their hometown of Nashville, TN for an end of year bash.

Earlier in the season, Keller is all over the Eastern half of the country, hitting more than 30 cities in over 20 states. The complete list of Keller’s confirmed dates is included below.

With the Mayan calendar coming to an ominous halt on December 21, 2012 – many are preparing for the End of Days. Keller Williams & Friends plan to celebrate with an “End of the World Party” in Keystone, CO on December 21 and December 22 (fret not, Keller is promising full refunds for the second show should the world in fact end). Longtime musical friends - The String Cheese Incident’s Keith Moseley,Bill Nershi, and Kyle Hollingsworth. The Motet’s Dave Watts, and others - will join Keller for the special occasion. Tickets and details available at www.kellerwilliams.net.

Following the “End of the World Party” (here’s hoping the Mayans simply ran out of room!), Keller hosts a massive 5-night run to ring in the New Year. Performing a solo set and a second set with his brand new R&B collaboration dubbed Keller Williams with More than a Little, and joined by That 1 Guy to open each show, the run makes four stops along the mid-Atlantic coast – Wilmington, NC; Charlotte, NC; Norfolk, VA; and Richmond, VA. The year culminates with a New Year’s Eve extravaganza in Nashville, TN with Keller solo, Del McCoury Band, and Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys.

Fans still have time to enter Keller’s Pick Me! contest. Those who order Pick, the debut collaboration of Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys, by October 1 through Keller’s online merch store automatically gets an entry to the contest. One lucky winner will win VIP tickets and an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Nashville to hang with Keller and the McCoury clan at their 2012 New Year’s Eve event. Details are available at www.kellerwilliams.net.

The critically lauded album Pick from Keller Williams with The Travelin’ McCourys was released in July 2012. Pick is a classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts—although the parts are rather massive on their own, to be sure.

The 2012 installment of The Festy Experience, the annual gathering in Nelson County, Virginia hosted by The Infamous Stringdusters and produced by Cereberus Productions and the Artist Farm, takes place October 5-7, 2012. With the 3rd annual event, The Festy continues to carve a unique and growing niche for itself, with a seamless and authentic integration of great music and outdoor living. This year’s Festy Experience is the launch of a big fall season for The Infamous Stringdusters, with their very special Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition to be released October 16, 2012, just as the band embarks on a massive fall tour in support of the album. Details on Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition and the band’s complete list of confirmed tour dates are included below.

Produced by Virginia-based companies and curated by a band that calls Charlottesville home, The Festy Experience is rooted by its locale. Cereberus Productions’ Justin Billcheck and The Artist Farm’s Michael Allenby went to school together as Lafayette High School in Williamsburg, VA. Cereberus Productions helps organize site operations for such major festivals as Bonnaroo and Outside Lands and produces local events including the Blue Ridge Oyster Fest and the Virginia Craft Brewers Fest. The Artist Farm is the management team driving The Infamous Stringdusters’ hugely successful fan-centric approach. Working together, The Festy’s vision as a unique, fall-flavored Experience in the Blue Ridge Mountains comes to fruition.

“We all tried to imagine the best weekend we could and then make it happen,” explains The Infamous Stringdusters’ bassist Travis Book about The Festy Experience. More than a music festival, the band emphasizes the “experience” aspect with a celebration of outdoor living in an idyllic, consciously intimate natural setting near Charlottesville.

This handcrafted, eye-to-the-details philosophy infuses The Festy Experience, from the carefully chosen lineup of road seasoned kindred spirits to the locally sourced food to outdoor activities like the Blue Ridge Burn, a 5k/10k trail race that winds up old logging roads. The Infamous Stringdusters have imagined their ideal festival and put their backs into making every aspect as engaging and enjoyable as possible.

“We found this beautiful location, which is fairly unique for the East Coast in that it’s a lot like the wonderful lush, mountainous spots one finds in California and Colorado, and we felt the need to share it with our friends,” says Travis.

Besides the Dusters, The Festy 2012 lineup includes
Trampled By Turtles, Leftover Salmon, Keller & The Keels, Rubblebucket, Lake Street Drive, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Elephant Revival, and 17 others. With their position as one of the premiere acoustic music outfits today, The Infamous Stringdusters might have been tempted to make The Festy folk/bluegrass focused but the band aims to showcase the diversity of the festival scene, presenting the best in up & coming talent alongside veterans like Salmon and Keller Williams. Authenticity, raw talent, great songs, and a good nature are the hallmarks of the artists chosen by the Dusters, who get their fingers into every aspect of The Festy.

The Festy is nestled on the private
Concert Ground at Devils Backbone Brewing Company, a renowned brewery and full service restaurant that serves food and international award winning microbrews throughout the festival. In addition, there are local food vendors and artisans to further extend the personal touch and sustainability aspects of The Festy. While camping – ranging from Reserved Car Camping to Family Camping to Quiet Camping - is emphasized so participants can fully settle into the Experience, there are bed and breakfasts, inns and rental options nearby for those seeking a less rustic approach. Showers at BaseCamp help keep attendees fresh to enjoy the action on three stages, including The Workshop Stage, which hosts interactive experiences centered on the pillars of The Festy: Music, Outdoor Living, and Local Sustenance.

Besides the Blue Ridge Burn, the other flagship outdoor competition at The Festy is the
Devils Backbone Challenge, a mountain bike test of endurance and strength that’s just one of many unique elements to what the Dusters have put together at this late summer/early fall gathering. In fact, the band is so dedicated to shaping the perfect festival that Travis Book lives on the property year-round when he’s not on tour, working on carving out trails, clearing ground, and other small aspects that reflect the always-fine-tuning mindset behind The Festy, where each year builds upon the last to cement this weekend as one of the can’t miss experiences for festivarians.

“We try to create that intersection between lifestyle and music,” Dusters banjoist
Chris Pandolfi says. “You get a 5k run, a mountain bike race, a rock climbing wall, lots of yoga, hikes, lots of sustainable food operations and craft beer vendors, and just a general overriding acknowledgement that these things are important and they make for a great quality experience over the long-term. It's about more than just trying to usher as many people in as possible.”

“We really respect and appreciate our fans and the community around us,” says Travis. “The Festy is our way of expressing that in a tangible, fun, enriching way.”

Today the just-launched CMT Edge premiers The Infamous Stringdusters’ new video of “The Place That I Call Home” - a track from the band’s soon-to-be-released Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition. Check it out here.

Just yesterday, The Infamous Stringdusters were featured on CMT’s popular “Concrete Country” series. The interview and performance were filmed earlier this year on the streets of Nashville, TN. On September 27th, the band’s Chris Pandolfi and Jeremy Garrett return to Nashville to the historic Ryman Auditorium for the 23rd Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards, where they’ll present and perform for bluegrass music’s biggest night.

In 2007 The Infamous Stringdusters’ debut album, Fork In The Road, tied with J.D. Crowe's release for IBMA Album of The Year. The Stringdusters also won awards for Song of the Year and IBMA's Emerging Artist of the Year. Those are heavy honors if you play bluegrass. Heavy honors. Their third album, Things That Fly, produced a Grammy nomination for Best Country Instrumental.

In the five years following their IBMA award-winning debut, The Infamous Stringdusters have defined themselves as a major bluegrass unit and have simultaneously turned the genre on its head. Indeed, today they are leading the bluegrass revolution - as super-skilled young players who can (and do) legitimately hang with bluegrass’s good 'ole boys, but who continuously write songs “speak” country, and deliver live shows that scream rock & roll.

The Infamous Stringdusters’ constant, relentless, revelatory musical evolution – is captured on the October 16 release of Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition. Delivered by SCI Fidelity and the band’s own High Country label, Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition includes a previously unreleased bonus track, “He’s Gone,” and the bonus live album, We’ll Do It Live. Fresh off a huge summer with festival plays at Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Wakarusa, DelFest, RockyGrass and many others, now The Infamous Stringdusters gear up for a fall tour in support of Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition. But first, the band’s beloved festival, dubbed The Festy Experience, celebrates its third year in the secluded hills of Nelson County, VA - with stellar music, flagship outdoor events, tasty local food, and more.

Working with an unlikely studio partner – hip-hop producer Billy Hume (Ludacris, Nas) - Silver Sky (first released in March of this year) finds The Infamous Stringdusters’ powerful rhythms and vocal melodies at the forefront of the music. Paired with We’ll Do It Live – a seamless live recording culled from four epic 2011 performances - Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition eloquently demonstrates a band whose artistic voice has fully emerged, and offers a riveting glimpse of just how, and where, The Infamous Stringdusters are leading the bluegrass revolution. Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition is available exclusively at independent retail stores throughout the country, with Silver Sky (without the bonus track) and We’ll Do It Live available separately online, and on vinyl at retail stores only.

Just back from a short European tour, French-born guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel and His Band bring their jaw-dropping live show back to the U.S this fall. Winding up and down the east coast, Wrembel’s tour will return to Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD before heading south to Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA, among several other stops. The complete list of confirmed tour dates is included below.

To say that Wrembel—who learned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside of Fontainebleau—has already had a remarkable career would be an understatement. He’s been called “a revelation” by Rolling Stone. Woody Allen recruited him to score the theme for last year’s smash film Midnight in Paris, and he performed his original song “Bistro Fada” live at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. Also this year – studio visits to NPR Weekend Edition, BBC Radio, and WNYC. Plus, it was a Wrembel song that won Gentleman Shaver a Clio Award for “Best Original Song Used in a Commercial.”

But this virtuoso, who is now Brooklyn-based, has truly just begun to make his mark as one of the most original guitar voices in contemporary music. Origins, Wrembel’s spring 2012 release recorded with his band—bassist Dave Speranza, rhythm guitarist Roy Williams, drummer Nick Anderson and percussionist David Langlois— touches upon everything from blues to flamenco to rock; all of these influences come together as something identifiable only as Stephane Wrembel.

“I just play my own music,” he says. Fleshed out by the superb musicians in his band, Wrembel’s melodies burst with panoply of textures and colors, moods and emotions.

Look for Stephane Wrembel and His Band on tour now and keep an eye out for another big year ahead for this rising talent.

Upcoming tour dates for Stephane Wrembel include:

Sunday, November 4 Johnny Brenda's Philadelphia PA

Today The Infamous Stringdusters announce their 2013 Ski Tour – a run of shows that brings the band, and their fans, to the Rocky Mountains’ best U.S. ski towns this winter. The itinerary - which includes stops in Vail, Colorado, Park City, Utah, and Jackson, Wyoming, among others - promises a few days off to hit the slopes. Along for the ride are partners POW (Protect Our Winters), Icelantic Skis, Oskar Blues Brewery, and Mountain Khaki, who will host special events and giveaways along the tour. The full list of 2013 Ski Tour stops is included below.

The Infamous Stringdusters’ 2013 Ski Tour is yet another example of how this talented band is seamlessly and authentically integrating two things they love most: great music and outdoor living. In October, the band celebrated the 3rd installment of The Festy Experience, their annual more-than-music festival featuring outdoor activities like the Blue Ridge Burn, a 5k/10k trail race that winds up old logging roads. Along the band’s recent Fall Tour, the band hosted lunchtime bicycle rides with fans and local bike enthusiasts alike, and made in-store appearances at REI, Blue Ridge Outdoors, and others. Not surprisingly, as the weather turns colder, the Dusters are now ready pull out their skis.

Before hitting the slopes, the band will launch their The Infamous Stringdusters GoPro Live Virtual Tour – with an exclusive video posting at a different online location each week. Filmed during their recent Fall Tour, the videos – recorded on cutting edge GoPro cameras and made by the band members themselves – offer stage perspectives and behind-the-scenes views, set to some of the tour’s epic live musical moments. The Virtual Tour launches today at Relix.com, and hits American Songwriter on December 11. Visit www.thestringdusters.com for the full Virtual Tour schedule

Also in December, the band heads to the Mayan Riviera for Cloud 9 Adventures’ inaugural Strings & Sol adventure. For their end-of-year plans, the band recently announced shows in New York City, Philadelphia, and Falls Church, VA, and bid 2012 farewell with a hometown New Year’s Eve show in Charlottesville, VA. The complete list of confirmed tour dates is included below.

The Infamous Stringdusters’ constant, relentless, revelatory musical evolution is on display throughout the band’s new double disc release Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition (October 16, 2012 / High Country Recordings and SCI Fidelity).

Composer Stephane Wrembel hits the road this winter - bringing his jaw dropping talent, palpable musical rapport with His Band, and vivid and textured compositions to life on theatre stages along the east coast and Midwest. His current list of tour dates is included below, with more being added each week.Parisian born Wrembel - whose music embraces all styles and influence to create a truly signature sound - is being hailed as one of the world’s most dynamic and inspired players out there today. Wrembel is indeed a standout - not only for his undeniable skills but also for his unparalleled ability to create a unique and vivid listener experience.2012 was a huge year for Stephane Wrembel. The guitarist released his fourth album, Origins, to critical acclaim; performed his original song "Bistro Fada" (the theme to Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris) at the Academy Awards; made studio visits to NPR Weekend Edition, BBC Radio, WNYC and others; toured across the U.S. and throughout Europe; and helped Gentleman Shaver win a Clio Award for “Best Original Song Used in a Commercial.”Raised in Fontainebleau, France -- the birthplace of Impressionism and the home of famed gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt -- Wrembel was shaped by the fertile creative landscape of the area from his very early years. He began with classical piano at age 4 before exploring musical genres such as rock, Django, jazz, country, blues, Indian raga, West African, Middle Eastern and others - embracing the many cultures and musical styles he discovered along the way. His arsenal of influences result in a sound unique to Wrembel; a music without genre. It's Wrembel's unbounded Impressionist musical style and state-of-mind that captured the attention of director Woody Allen, who most recently recruited him to score the theme for his smash film Midnight in Paris (Wrembel also composed music for Allen’s 2008 Golden Globe winning film Vicky Christina Barcelona). Wrembel’s extraordinary ability to capture, in music, the soul of an image is invaluable in film scoring. Being able to trigger images - whether universal or personal - in the listener's mind is also a huge part of Wrembel's own musical vision. The element of mystery and freedom his music imparts makes it as impossible to ignore as it is to pin down. Whether rocking a huge festival stage or filling up every breath of air in an intimate club - the experience of seeing Stephane Wrembel and His Band perform live is truly unforgettable.Upcoming tour dates for Stephane Wrembel include:Friday, January 11 World Cafe Live at The Queen – Wilmington, DESaturday, January 12 Towne Crier Café – Pawling, NYSunday, January 13 Webster Hall – Manhattan, NYWednesday, January 16 Carriage House – Ithaca, NYThursday, January 17 Thunderbird Cafe – Pittsburgh, PAFriday, January 18 The Nighttown – Cleveland, OHSaturday, January 19 The Blue Wisp – Cincinnati, OHWednesday, February 13 Merrimans' Playhouse – South Bend, INThursday, February 14 The MidWest Gypsy Swing Festival @ The Brink Lounge – Madison, WIFriday, February 15 - Saturday, February 16 The Green Mill – Chicago, ILSunday, February 17 Shank Hall – Milwaukee, WIThursday, February 21 Vaudeville Mews – Des Moines, IASunday, February 24 Cliff Bells – Detroit, MIThursday, March 7 The Saint – Asbury Park, NJFriday, March 8 Suffolk Theater – Riverhead, NYSaturday, March 9 The Van Dyck – Schenectady, NYSunday, March 10 Bearsville Theater – Woodstock, NY

In its first two years, the Colorado-based SnowBall Music Festival established a reputation as one of America's most unique and exciting events. A music festival and ski/snowboard weekend rolled into one, SnowBall is the ultimate winter getaway for music fans, tastemakers and adventure-seekers, who'll converge on the majestic mountain paradise of Winter Park, Colorado on March 8-10, 2013 to absorb SnowBall's visionary marriage of music and mountains.

With two sold-out years under its belt, this year SnowBall boasts its most eclectic and impressive musical lineup yet, with eagerly anticipated performances by the likes of Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, Kendrick Lamar, Portugal. The Man, and many others. The complete list of artists announced today is listed below, with many more performers to be revealed in the coming weeks.

For three days, SnowBall's new location of Winter Park, Colorado will come alive with approximately 65 acts performing on four stages, encompassing a diverse assortment of cutting-edge artists spanning the full range of contemporary music, from electronic and dance to indie and alternative. The combination of the world's most creative musicians and the world's greatest snow conditions makes SnowBall the ultimate winter adventure for the music enthusiast and winter sports fan alike.

As Chad Donnelly, the festival's founder, explains, "From the beginning, SnowBall has always sought to offer a unique experience, and to create something that hasn't been done before. It's incredible how many people who attend SnowBall ski and snowboard each day of the festival, and somehow still have the energy to experience the music festival from beginning to end, followed by the late-night shows until two in the morning. Our fans' energy and attitude is ultimately what shapes the event, which is why I know they are going to love Winter Park and the vibe that the town caters to."

In addition to three great days of music, those attending the festival will have an opportunity to hit the slopes at Winter Park Resort - dubbed "Colorado's Favorite”™ for the natural majesty of its setting, its laid-back resort atmosphere and its stellar skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Winter Park Resort, which includes Mary Jane Mountain, averages over 321 inches of snow each year and features over 3000-acres of skiable terrain to enjoy. SnowBall 2013 attendees will also have access to a special discounted ski lift ticket, courtesy of Winter Park Resort, packaged with their event ticket and lodging.

The move to Winter Park isn't the only exciting new change in store for this year's SnowBall. "Being on private land and having a partner like Winter Park makes all the difference in the world," Donnelly states, adding, "This new location really enables us the opportunity to take all aspects of the festival to the next level.”

SnowBall 2013 promises innovative integration of creative design throughout the festival experience - from custom three dimensional film installations, fireworks displays, action sports elements and everything in between. Also this year, SnowBall introduces a heated acoustic coffee house lounge to feature intimate and unplugged performances by rising stars and main stage artists alike. After the festival, crowds spill out into the streets for the event’s ever-expanding late night scene, offering big after-hours shows in the town’s many small clubs.

"We see SnowBall as a boutique festival," Donnelly concludes. "We're passionate about keeping it diverse, and we aim to attract a wide range of fans who share similar ideas and values. Nothing brings people together like music, and we plan to continue fostering that environment in a very positive way. We work tirelessly to curate a festival that will always have a really special place in the hearts of our fans, and I have no doubt that they are going to be more excited than ever with this year's lineup and experience."

Discounted Snow Day and Early Bird tickets, which were made available to past attendees beginning the weekend of December 15, have already sold out. SnowBall is now offering a Holiday Special ticket price as well as VIP Advance tickets. Both levels will be available until January 1, after which General Admission tickets will be available.

Today, independent recording artist Keller Williams releases Bluhm, a five track EP benefitting fellow musician Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips who, in the fall of 2015, was severely injured in a speed flying accident. Since his accident, Tim has undergone a number of surgeries incurring upwards of $50,000 in uninsured medical expenses. Keller has been a longtime fan of Tim Bluhm, whom he describes as “the epitome of a west coast songwriter.” Inspired by Tim’s plight, Keller wanted to support Tim and his music by releasing Bluhm and giving 100% of the net proceeds to Tim Bluhm’s medical fund.

For the Bluhm recording, Keller rallied an all-star west coast crew of musicians and some old time friends to collaborate on this five track EP. Bluhm features performances by Jackie Greene, Reed Mathis, Jason Crosby, and Larry and Jenny Keel. “I looked at it as a perfect excuse to record five of my favorite Tim Bluhm songs with all the proceeds going to help him get back on his foot,” says Williams. Bluhm is available for digital download through livedownloads.com and iTunes

As always, Keller is a busy man this summer. In addition to recording Bluhm, he is travelling the country hitting many festivals with some of his fan-favorite projects and working on a new KWahtro record to be released in the coming months.
