The Mendocino/Humboldt County Line exploded with an abundance of love, inspiration and sublime vibes as the 4th Annual NNMF respectfully expanded into both Counties for an incredible weekend featuring a collection of the biggest names in music plus a slew of new interactive environments for roaming revelers to explore.

The goal of Northern Nights is to create a place where people from the city, country, or anywhere in between can come and participate behind the Majestic Redwoods and be present with one another, setting aside the distracting technology that is around us every day.

The vibe is cultivated by all participants, from the co-creators who show up early to help build to the service providers and production crews that spend countless hours ensuring safety and finding the creativity to show the attendees of Northern Nights something they’ve never seen before. These efforts result in an experience, which brings so much joy and appreciation it can be hard to describe all that is Northern Nights in words!

For three days, attendees enjoyed a scintillating soundscape against the backdrop of a winding river and towering Redwoods - famous to the location - topped off by 2016 headlining acts: soulful, saxophonist Griz, trapped-out beatmaker Troyboi and Gorgon City Live & DJ Set. Commanding the presence of the surrounding woods, headliners were joined on the main stage by electrifying sets from The Knocks and the ever-elusive, masked Claptone who unleashed an unforgettable Immortal Live set. Curating one of the biggest lineups on the festival circuit this season, Northern Night highlights also featured sets from Amon Tobin/Two Fingers, MOONZz, Stephen, Dawn, and The Coup.

The allure of a refreshing dip in the river brought wanderers directly into the cool embrace of the River Stage where Lafa Taylor, SNBRN & Prince Fox took turns guiding elated campers on an auditory journey through the depths of space and time. Each bend in the river unveiled new territories just waiting to be discovered by curious thrill-seekers.

The 2016 festival grounds were nothing short of spectacular with several new key immersive environments to explore. Expanding sanctioned renegade stages offered oasis experiences for the hundreds who stumbled upon them while churning out the best of the underground along the riverbed. The famed Silent Disco served as the top destination for after-hours shenanigans complete with a set from headliners Gorgon City and SNBRN. Onlookers marveled at the expansive range of offering which included the first-ever Leafly Tree Lounge 215 Medical Cannabis Zone, breathtaking art installations, and mindful meditative yoga sessions throughout the grounds of Cook’s Valley’s ethereal landscape.

The Grove featured performances by Horses Heaven, Object Heavy, Zera, Metamorphosis Ballet and many more, including late night performances by Govinda, Violin Girl, Stephen, MOONZz and Eli Be Loved, stunning their audience with intimate sounds, reminiscent of a night in your friend’s living room. Elevated high in the Redwoods was the Kitty Castle where attendees could climb to another level to experience the music, burlesque, and daytime yoga and movement classes.

With an active community of participant’s year ‘round, the true magic of Northern Nights springs to life behind the majestic Redwoods at the Humboldt / Mendocino County Line. The entire Northern Nights team is filled with joy and gratitude for each and every individual who ventured to the festival to experience firsthand the beauty of the thriving community. A very special thanks goes out to all of the producers, curators and co-creators who came together to deliver a memorable weekend!

What better day to release the first lineup drop for the 5th Annual Northern Nights Music Festival set in the Emerald Triangle than 4.20! Set amidst California’s picturesque Redwood Curtain, Cooks Valley Campground will come alive on July 14-16, 2017 with an all-star lineup featuring Living Legends, Cherub, G Jones and more.  Once again, people from all walks of life will converge at one of the world’s most breathtaking venues to enjoy a weekend of music, art, food, libations, yoga, and more.

A meticulously curated event, showcasing a wide variety of styles and artists from across the globe, Northern Nights offers a boutique festival experience in an epic location. Tucked along the Eel River, just a few hours north of San Francisco, Northern Nights provides 3 days of cutting-edge dance music and diverse community activities.

Staying true to its roots, NNMF’s Phase One Drop is keeping it underground. This year’s line-up includes:

LIVING LEGENDS -  The West Coast Hip Hop collective, comprised of The Grouch, Luckyiam, Eligh, Scarub, Bicasso, Murs, Sunspot Jonz, and Aesop Rock, are set to rock the redwoods in their first return to the Emerald Triangle as a full group in over 10 years. Recent sightings have included studio sessions in Hawaii with none other than NNMF vet, Mr. Carmack.

CHERUB - After their platinum breaking hit Doses & Mimosas (sounds like a morning on the river), the southern funk duo Cherub has made some considerable noise in the funk direction with their sophomore album Bleed Gold, Piss Excellence. Everyone, please be warned, this set may end with less clothes on your body than when it started.

BIG WILD – After playing the NN x Eye Heart SF showcase at SXSW, Big Wild got picked up by NNMF14’s “Biggest Artist That Nobody Knew” Odesza’s record label, Foreign Family Collective, and started selling out shows across the country.

JUSTIN JAY’S FANTASTIC VOYAGE - For any 2015 NNMF vets, we can all remember Justin Jay's epic set to close down the River Stage on Sunday evening, guitars and all. Since then, Justin has been one of the most requested artists to return. Those who have listened to Jay's Fantastic Voyage mixtapes know we are in for a doozy and this time on the Main Stage!

NOMBE - After being unable to perform at NNMF16, the electro soul phenom and soon-to-be-icon NoMBe is ready to make his NNMF debut. Considering his one-of-a-kind sound focuses on Freaks Like Me, California Girls and getting high on tea, it makes sense why this performance is one of the NNMF’s producers’ most anticipated performances.

G JONES - Will be making his third sound-system-flexing return to NNMF.

Those are just some the heavy-hitting, hand-selected, internationally renowned artists that will be featured at Northern Nights 2017. Rounding out the first wave of announcements are other heavy-buzz trendsetters like The Range, Colorado's Unlimited Aspect (Unlimited Gravity x Project Aspect), Mr. Fijiwiji, IHF & Nominus.

Northern Nights is a must-attend festival and has grown into a preeminent, environmentally conscious live music event, with tons of alternative festival activities like sustainable workshops, yoga, silent disco, art, organic food, and not-for-profit vendors.

Walk down to the river from your campsite and float to the beat of your favorite artist  at our famous River Stage. Build a comfortable camp with your friends and be sure to take advantage of our expanded Hot Showers. Stroll over to the General Store to re-stock your cooler or try some of Northern Cali’s finest culinary offerings. And, even after the music stops on the Main Stage, the vibes continue deep into the night, with an all night 'silent disco' under the stars.

Sustainability is woven into every action at the festival with the intention of leaving behind no trace. NNMF goes above and beyond to make sure the grounds are left clean and in their natural condition to preserve and protect the beauty of the location. Participants are encouraged to be as respectful to the environment as possible by cleaning after themselves, using earth-friendly personal care products on site, and more.

At Northern Nights, music is only the beginning of the experience. Other unique features include:

Tree Lounge - returning for its second year, the official designated area for on-site consumption of medical cannabis  will feature the Emerald Triangle’s multi-generational cultivators, best-in-class manufacturers and premier industry leaders alongside top tier dispensary buyers and distributors from all around the Golden State. As a boutique festival, Northern Nights stands proud with boutique farmers! “The idea of joining forces with a community-driven arts and music festival in the heart of a cannabis mecca to showcase the first ever legal cannabis lounge was an opportunity not to pass up,” - event coordinator for the Tree Lounge.

Yoga In The Redwoods -  The tranquil early morning calls to festivalgoers looking to refresh and enlighten themselves under towering trees to become one with nature and plant some spiritual roots.

Grove Stage - The redwoods come to life at night as we curate live performances, burlesque, and all-night surprises.

Redwood Reserved Camping – Our most scenic and popular camping option is positioned directly under the redwoods. We have expanded a few new spots this year, but are still very limited so don’t miss out!

Glamping – Whether you are an experienced camper or prefer the comforts of home, NNMF has added glamping options this year. You can ride up in your NNMF Jucy campervan, show up and move into a fully-stocked Airstream by Trailermade or prepare to be pampered in your high quality canvas tent provided by Anywhere Outpost

3-day tickets are on sale now with a limited number available at $229 for General Admission and $329 for VIP.  Riverfront camping is free with any ticket purchase. Upgrades, including RV, car camping, and Redwood Grove camping, are available for purchase in advance.

After a winter of heavy rains, the Emerald Triangle is in full bloom and the rugged yet regal Eel River is at full flow. It seems as if the stars have aligned environmentally and musically for this summer’s fifth installment of Northern Nights Music Festival---which has released their final lineup—adding Jai Wolf, Dirtwire, Moon Boots, Vijay & Sofia, and Falcons to the previously debuted ranks of the entire Living Legends crew (first festival in 15 years this far North), Cherub, Big Wild, Justin Jay, NoMBe, G Jones and many more.

JAI WOLF — this mid tempo indie-electronic producer/dj alias of Sajeeb Saha, hailing somewhere between Bangladesh and New York, has been actively involved with music since the age of five, when he took up the violin as a New York all-state performer. Jai Wolf’s melodic, dreamlike sound has attracted the love of many, and he’s continuously released incredible tracks that have been recognized by some of the biggest names in dance music including Skrillex and Odesza. The rising star is ready to bring the Indian Summer to the Emerald Triangle at Northern Nights 2017.

DIRTWIRE — Dirtwire sits on the back porch of Americana’s future, conjuring up a whirlwind of sound using traditional instrumentation, world percussion, soundscapes, and electronic beats. Comprised of David Satori (Beats Antique), Evan Fraser (The Dogon Lights; Bolo), and Mark Reveley (Jed and Lucia), each performance brings us all to a mysterious crossroads of beats, blues, African, Asian, and South American sounds. The result is a rebirth of Americana and a post-millennial psychedelic journey to down home goodness along the South Fork of the Eel River.

VIJAY & SOFIA — A couple in real life and behind the decks, Vijay and Sofia bring their euro-tropical-house dancefloor anthems for their DEBUT U.S. Festival Performance. The duo have been tapped for remixes by some of the industry’s biggest names including Daft Punk, Pharrell, Moby, Kiesza, Buena Vista Social Club, Duke Dumont, and Nicolas Jaar and now boast over 1 million plays a month for their own unique, bouncy productions that are ready to take on the NN17 River Stage.

MOON BOOTS — Moon Boots entered the world in the mid-1980s via Cape Canaveral. After years of service as the preferred footwear of celebrity astronauts (notably Tom Hanks), Moon Boots came to life during a classified experiment aboard the International Space Station. Moon Boots will be taking everyone on an intergalactic journey through the Emerald Triangle.

FALCONS — Los Angeles producer/dj FALCONS has arrived at the forefront of a new generation blurring the lines between hip-hop, R&B, and EDM. The young producer has crafted both radio-ready songs & underground club anthems in one breath and made a major impact across the globe, touring his sound across North America, Asia, Europe and Australia and now adding some punch to the infamous Northern Nights body-thumping soundscapes.

NN17 will also mark the return of the Tree Lounge, which features the Emerald Triangle’s premiere medical cannabis cultivators and manufacturers as well as hosts top-tier dispensary buyers and distributors from all around the Golden State. NN17’s new and improved Tree Lounge and Silent Disco locations will put vendors front and center on the main festival thoroughfare. A limited number of booth spaces are still available at northernnights.org/getinvolved.

Grove Yoga and Sustainability — Rise with the sun for morning Grove Yoga presented by Bloom Farms then rinse off in our Hot Showers. There will be eight daily yoga sessions to help you reach serenity, along with additional workshops on environmental awareness, sustainability, organic food and massage therapy.

Glamping — For the creature comforts of home, Northern Nights now offers multiple glamping options. Live it up in a NNMF Jucy campervan, a Trailermade Airstream, or lay back in a high quality canvas tent prepared by Anywhere Outpost.

Tickets — You may have missed our 420 ticket deal, but our 3-day tickets are still available. They come in two tiers, $239 for General Admission and $339 for VIP. Riverfront camping is included with purchase. RV, car camping and Redwood Grove camping upgrades are available for preorder.

General Info — Gates will open July 14 at 10AM. Cook's Valley Campground is on the border of Humboldt and Mendocino County—83950 Road 442E, Piercy, CA 95587. Northern Nights is strictly an 18+ event. Passes for RVs or car camping can be purchased in advance.

Northern Nights is a zero-environmental-impact festival. If your car leaks—fix it—or bring thick sheets of cardboard to leave under your leak. Parking is first-come, first-served. Cooking is allowed but open fires are strictly forbidden.

We hope to see you in the redwoods along the winding riverbed!
