“These evenings have become really special” says Clem who had the idea to develop this uniquely-themed series after once hearing that a songwriter should always craft a musical set following the day-of-the-wedding bridal attire tradition of including something old, new, borrowed, and blue for good luck. Songs About Something performers and fans alike enjoy how the simple twist of the theme makes each evening unique. “I’ve had more than one artist tell me they finished a song that very day to include in their ‘new’ round, and we recently had someone play an intimate tune he’d written 20 years earlier but never shared from the stage as his ‘old’ song—he never thought it was a ‘stage’ song but people loved it!”

The series has been scheduled currently through June 1st and Clem’s guest include the following artists:

APRIL 6 - Nat Keefe (Hot Buttered Rum) and Jonny Mojo & Paul Kamm (Achilles Wheel)
May 4 - Elliott Peck (Midnight North), Jesse Bardwell and Craig MacArthur
JUNE 1 - Joe Craven, Alexander Nelson (Walking Spanish) and Garrin Benfield

Tickets for shows range in price from $10 - $14 and 4-Show Season. Passes can be purchased directly from the Ivy Room Website for $39.

Described by JamBase as having “a vibe and setting more akin to an indoor campfire circle than a concert stage”, songwriter Paige Clem hosts this unique spin on "songwriters in the round" where talented local and touring songwriters come together to share a "NEW" original song, an "OLD" original song, a "BORROWED" cover song and a "BLUES" song every first Thursday of the month at Ivy Room in Albany, CA.

The eight event in this ongoing series, the June Songs About Something will feature highly acclaimed musical virtuoso of Garcia & Grisman fame, Joe Craven, Alexander Nelson from Sacramento’s multi-Sammy-Award-winning band, Walking Spanish, and “an artist you must see live” (JamBase), Brooklyn’s Garrin Benfield. Greetings, Sweet Friends. I hope your year is off to a great start. Getting my record released is first and foremost on my mind these days. In anticipation of the big release event to be announced soon, I've managed to assemble a true dream team of musicians to play my songs. We'll be testing out the waters next Saturday, January 20th, at Terrapin Crossroads in the bar and I can't tell you how honored I am to have this lineup a seasoned all-stars perform my original music. This is a free show.  We're going be playing several songs off the upcoming record, along with some new originals and covers. I am overjoyed!  In case you don't get the full extent of the WOAH involved with this show, here are some brief spinets from the band's personal bios below. (Note, It's kinda late. I think I meant to say snipet, but I'm going to just own spinet here, even if it really does mean "a type of small upright piano".)

BAND SPINETS:

James Nash (The Waybacks) on guitar. "James has served as bandleader for ensembles with the likes of everyone from Elvis Costello to Emmylou Harris, Bela Fleck to Bob Weir, Chris Thile and Jerry Douglas to Darol Anger and Mike Marshall."

Joe Craven (Garcia/Grisman Project) on mandolin, fiddle and percussion. "Joe has made music with many folks – notably violinist Stephane Grappelli and Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia – to multi-whirled string guy David Lindley, harmonica wizard Howard Levy and seven years recording and touring with banjo fusionist Alison Brown."

Jordan Feinstein (Jordan and the Ritual) on keys and organ. One of San Francisco's top go-to keyboard players, Jordan plays regularly with with La Gente, American Nomad, Lebo, Stu Allen and Mars Hotel and has shared the stage with ALO, Tea Leaf Green, Anders Osborn, Brett Dennen, George Porter Jr., Carolyn Wonderland, Phil Lesh, and more.

Robin Sylvester (RatDog) on bass. "Best known for his ongoing work with RatDog, Sylvester has worked alongside Steve Douglas, backing the Beach Boys and Ry Cooder and has played in live acts led by Marty Balin, Mary Wells, The Shirelles, The Coasters, The Drifters, Billy Preston, Christine McVie, Steve Seskin, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Freddy Fender, Del Shannon, and Vince Welnick's Missing Man Formation."

Gabe Ford (Little Feat) on drums. "Ford spent his early career in the San Francisco Bay area playing with a popular pop band called 008. He played the blues at the same time by playing and recording with his uncles as well as Chris Cain and Michael Osborn. In 2006 Ford released his first self-titled solo album. Other musicians that play on the album are Robben Ford, Chris Cain, Joe Colgan, Mark Ford, John R Burr, Dewayne Pate, Chris McGee and Johnny Bennett. In early 2009 Ford backed his uncle, Robben Ford, on drums when he toured with Jorma Kaukonen and Ruthie Foster. He has been Little Feat's drummer since 2010."

This is it, friends — two and a half years in the making (about 5 if you count when I started trying to put together crowdfunding videos). I am thrilled, nervous, excited, overwhelmed, eager, and a whole lot of other words in anticipation of this big event that doesn't feel unlike planning a wedding.

On Friday, March 9th, my debut record, Firefly, will be released for all to hear! In celebration of the project and the efforts and all the amazing funders and friends and supporters who have been part of this, I will be having an Album Release Party in The Grate Room at Terrapin Crossroads that very evening and I hope beyond hope that you can be there.

You'll see from the list above that I have a cavalcade (big word!) of guests planned for the night and I can not wait to share their talents with you. So much fun planned for the evening...amazing guitarists, percussion, horns, strings, a freakin CHOIR!  I also commissioned Petaluma graphic artist, Katie Kincade, to create the amazing event poster seen above that includes graphic elements depicting imagery from every song on the album. Katie will be signing a limited-run of a special commemorative version of the poster and I'll be there with signing as well with, cough, my CDs!!  "Paige, do you have a CD of your music?" "WHY YES! YES I DO!"

If you don't ever make one of my shows again, PLEASE make this one. It would mean the world to me to pack the house with friends for this special night. Tickets are $15 (not bad for a Grate Room show on a Friday night!) in advance, $18 day of. Feel free to buy 2. Or 4. Or 14. Seriously, I have band to feed...  Can't make it? I hear Firefly Record Release Tickets make AMAZING not-quite St. Patricks Day gifts. Tell your friends!  Bring your friends!  We don't call this my Shameless Self Promotion emailer for nothing...

Oh yeah one more thing...the show is ALL AGES!  Not a common occurrence for a Grate Room show and I'm grateful to Terrapin Crossroads making it so I can celebrate this special evening with my own kiddo around. I promise to try to keep the profanity to a minimum if you bring yours.... :)

Truly, thank you all for the support through this. This record is built on the backs (and backing) of HUNDREDS of people. I can't wait to celebrate it with you!

Peace, Love and Music!
~ Paige
