Brian Lauri (keyboards, vocals) has played in various popular projects around New England including the well known bands Liquid Dead (liquiddead.com), Named By Strangers (namedbystrangers.com), and Green Tea.  While earning a degree in music, he has played in many venues including The Knitting Factory (NYC), Harpers Ferry (Mass), and Higher Ground (Burlington, VT).

Where else but at a Dark Star Orchestra show does the cryptical reciting and mind-changing on years and dates in the mid seventies occur with such frequency.

Sometime in the summer.

Each month is cause for consideration as some pattern of songs specific to a fall, a summer, a spring of a given year passes through memory.

DSO played Denver, CO last night.  The show of choice was Rochester, N.Y. -11/21/1978.  Great version of Truckin' to end set 2. Other highlights include Bertha>Good Lovin, & Estimated>Eyes.  Lots of good folks sweating & dancing  till 2AM..

Over the years I have always thought of Mark Knopfler as one of my favorite guitar players and I always regretted missing him play live. Last night I figured out why. He was awesome. I was not quite sure what to expect – which was kind of nice for a change. Too many times I know what I am in for and I get just that. But, I have never seen MK and this was going to be a first time for me.

Thanks to The Grateful Web for providing my ticket in exchange for this review. The first order of business was to sell some Make Love Not War tshirts that are also available on this site. With a few beers and some other remedies of a less toxic nature we hit the parking lot. I did not actually do anything other than walk around with Mike drinking while he hustled the shirts with surprisingly effortless success.

I've decided to stop watching the news. I'll stop reading it, too. No more compulsive tapping on the refresh button on the CNN.com home page in the hopes that something wildly tragic has happened somewhere so I can palliate my boredom for five more minutes. No more news, because the news has blackened my worldview.
