Why would a hippie drown themselves in a sea of hipsters and EDM?  If you enjoy Phish, Dead & Co, Greensky Bluegrass, and the like, what would the appeal of Electric Forest be you ask? The miles of music listed on the bill are obscure and barely heard of bands to an aging hippie. Are they even bands? These are questions you may ask yourself while looking at the ticket price. I understand, and in response, I offer you these five counter-arguments for your consideration.

The second day of Music on the Mesa 2017 started early. Though there was a huge crowd on the first night of the fest, music lovers were taking their time moseying down to the festival grounds in search of that day’s entertainment. I moseyed down myself from the vintage Aristocrat trailer I stayed in the night before. It was nicknamed Dennis and had an Easy Rider/Dennis Hopper theme in its decorations. It was super convenient to be able to just walk across a dirt road to where everything was happening.

The 3rd annual WinterWonderGrass Festival attracted thousands of fans to North Lake Tahoe, March 30th- April 2nd for the sold out three day music and brews festival.  With bluebird powder days giving way to snowy winter nights, fans gathered to watch their favorite bluegrass bands play into the California sky. The festival has created a sense of community with fans returning each year traveling from over 40 states to see more than 30 world-renowned bluegrass acts. .

In its 12th year, Pitchfork Music Festival headlines with LCD Soundsystem (Friday), A Tribe Called Quest (Saturday) closing with Solange (Sunday). Featuring three stages, the line-up of 40 plus bands includes fan favorites George Clinton & Parlament Funkadelic, The Feelies, P.J. Harvey, Francis and the Lights and Jamila Woods. This Independently run festival highlights some of the best in new and emerging music.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of what many consider the most historically important and socially significant music festival, performers, music lovers, vendors, historians, nonconformists, and perfect coastal California weather came together to celebrate nostalgia and create new remembrances at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.

On this opening day of Electric Forest 2017, we would like to welcome you to the 7th annual music and camping experience of a lifetime. We are so glad that you are here with us. As we step into this journey together, we’d like to highlight a few of Electric Forest’s community-spirited activations happening this weekend, including EF’s annual Roy Price Memorial Food Drive and EF’s Music In Schools Program. Also this year, we are celebrating the life of Forest Family member Wally Wojack.

Bonnaroo 2017 headline acts U2 (Friday), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Saturday), Weeknd (Sunday) were highly charged sets. But the earlier acts The XX, Chance the Rapper, and Lorde all of whom were not overlooked and primed the audience with exceptional performances.

Music on the Mesa Festival launched its third year on a hot day in El Prado NM, just north of Taos, at the Taos Mesa Brewery. Under clouds that gifted rain later in the day at a very opportune time, music lovers came early, swelling crowds to capacity every single night of the fest.

On this opening Friday, June 2, festivalgoers were treated to NM singer/songwriter Ry Taylor on the large earthen amphitheater and the California-based Sweetwater String Band on the patio stage.

Over the past few decades, the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance has grown to be more than just a single event in Trumansburg, NY and this year the latest addition to the roster returns for its sophomore year: the GrassRoots Culture Camp 2017 runs from Sunday through Wednesday, July 16-19, the four days leading up to the 27th annual GrassRoots Festival which takes place July 20-23. Both the camp and the festival are held at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds.
