Naama Kates is a Los Angeles transplant whose move from New York left her feeling lost and lonely; feelings that inspired the songs that would become her debut album, “The Unexamined Life.” A tongue-in-cheek take on Socrates’ “an unexamined life is not worth living,” Naama spent a year reflecting on her life and the path that she had chosen.“My life was nothing but examined,” shares Kates.

Wintersleep has spent the last decade establishing, developing, and re-inventing their sound to share with audiences around the world. After winning a Juno Award for 2007’s Welcome To The Night Sky, touring extensively in support of 2010’s New Inheritors and performing on The Late Show With David Letterman last year, the band settled down during the summer of 2011 to focus on their next endeavor.

The “Generals” single precedes the June 5th album release and includes the non-album track “Fallen Doves.” The 7” features silk screened sleeves that are hand stray painted and numbered by band leader Laura Burhenn. Bob Weir, a founding member of the Grateful Dead, will perform with members of Brooklyn, NY-based The National in “The Bridge Session,” a free live concert to be broadcast on Yahoo! Music originating from Weir’s TRI Studios on Saturday, March 24th.
