The COVID-19 global pandemic has profoundly disrupted the lives of millions of people and communities. With elderly populations especially vulnerable to the damaging effect of social isolation and craving connection, digital media company Silver Screen Studios, in association with the nonprofit Reboot and Paper Crane Productions, announces the premiere of Dispatches from Quarantine and Coming of Age, two online video series that celebrate amazing seniors who embody the resiliency, wit and candor we all need to get through these challenging times.

Nonprofit organization, JusticeAid, has announced Voices To Protect The Vote, an at-home benefit concert in support of its 2020 beneficiary, Election Protection/888-OUR-VOTE. The virtual event, taking place on May 18th, 2020 at 7PM ET/4PM PT on JusticeAid’s YouTube and hosted by NYC’s WFUV Program Director Rita Houston, will shine a light on issues of voter suppression and serve as a gift of uplifting music during these difficult times.

Nell Robinson and Jim Nunally have been melding genres their entire careers—bluegrass, folk, country, jazz, swing, alt-roots, folkbilly, you-name-it—but when it came time to put together Western Sun, their third album as the Nell & Jim Band, Robinson and Nunally wed their passion for songwriting and storytelling, using their vocabulary of way-back influences; a story told from the roots of roots music.

Colorado based bluegrass outfit Turkeyfoot have emerged as a fully-fledged musical powerhouse on their debut full-length album Promise of Tomorrow (June 5, 2020).  Jordan Brandenburg (Mandolin), Michael Rudolph (Bass), Bridger Dunnagan (Fiddle), Dave Pailet (Guitar/Dobro), and Alex Koukov (Banjo) share momentous instrumental talent, an enthusiasm for collaboration, and some serious songwriting chops.

Over the better part of the last four decades, Monte Warden and his songs have ebbed and flowed through the Austin music scene like a river changing course over time, influencing the city’s musical landscape as much as he’s been influenced by it. From the inception of The Wagoneers to having his songs cut by the likes of George Strait, Warden’s journey has taken quite a few turns but never meandered.

Local real estate agent and business woman Laura Levy has teamed up with LEAF, Lyons Emergency Assistance Fund to create the Gig Grant Fund for Lyons Artists and Musicians. The Gig Grant will support local Lyons artists and musicians who have experienced significant income loss due to the COVID-19 Virus.
