Take a 15-time IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Dobro Player of the Year and a Tennessee-born guitar prodigy who made his Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 11, and you have Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, a powerhouse acoustic duo that has electrified the acoustic music scene.

From Bette Davis and John Wayne to Bo Diddley and Bob Dylan, the State Theatre in Portland has seen its share of stars since it first opened its doors on November 8, 1929.  On Friday, November 8, 2019, the theatre will kick off a celebration of its 90th birthday with a week-long scavenger hunt around Portland with ticket and merchandise giveaways to mark the historic occasion. Details will be available via the State Theatre pages on Facebook and Instagram.

Announced today, Back To Earth is set to be reissued on Cat-O-Log Records/BMG and includes a remastered CD & LP, released on November 29, 2019 while the Super Deluxe box set is set for a February 28, 2020 release.  The deluxe boxset features the original album (remastered at Abbey Road) together with previously unheard tracks ‘Butterfly’ and ‘Toy Heart’ (featuring Grammy winning guitarist, Eric Johnson) which were considered by Cat as too ‘pop’ at the time; demos, out-takes tracks, and material from UNICEF’s 1979 Year

Premiere Connecticut jam and jazz fusion bands Eggy and Zillawatt teamed up Thursday night for a Halloween show in Worcester, MA, bringing between the pair of them an evening full of creative, festive, and most definitely funky jams to regionally famous venue Electric Haze. The top of the evening saw a special opening acoustic set from Mike MacDonald, lead guitarist of Boston jamtronica band Strange Machines.

Meet Magnolia Blvd, a 5-piece from Lexington, KY currently opening up for Blues Traveler on the "Four Live" 25th-anniversary tour.

There's plenty of blues, soul and rock n' roll in Magnolia Blvd's sound, but also elements of funk, jam band, folk, jazz, country, bluegrass and psychedelia. It's all fueled by the rhythm section's elastic, tight-but-loose grooves, shot through with Gregg Erwin's expressive and incisive slide guitar licks and topped by Maggie Noelle's soul-stirring, powerhouse vocals.

Bucks County native, Jeremiah Tall, released his latest full-length LP, From Bare Bones, and performed its first single, “Graves” on Fox 29’s The Q in celebration of the album’s release.

Nashville-based singer/songwriter Kyshona releases "Fallen People," a track from her forthcoming album Listen. Written with Jenn Bostic and Maureen Murphy, "Fallen People" is a reflection on how we see others; its classic feel encourages us to handle each another with care--that we find commonality in the fact that we all struggle and that we all fight something on a daily basis.

San Francisco singer-songwriter Graham Norwood releases the first single from his debut album Out Of The Sea, “Greenfield.” “Awash in soaring strings and folk-centric melancholy, Norwood evokes the likes of Elliott Smith and Sufjan Stevens with double-tracked vocals and acoustic fingerpicking.” [Mother Church Pew]

Distinguished by a sense of songwriting craft, Thomas Guttman creates music which hovers above genres. Born and raised in New York City, Finding Thomas performs regularly at the downtown clubs like The Standard, The Bitter End, and Bowery Electric. With deep roots in the past and a sensibility finely to the present, Finding Thomas’ upcoming EP is cohesive and complex, with each track showcasing a different side of the band.
