On March 3rd, Durham’s Performing Arts Center was the site of a show that if you were fortunate enough to attend, will stand as one of the shows of your lifetime.  If you are familiar with the Grateful Dead’s March 29th, 1990 show with Branford Marsalis; get that show roaming around your mind.

Howling Wolves Present has added two dynamic bands to the 2015 Purple Hatter’s Ball line-up – the heavy rock instrumental fusion of TAUK, and the soul funk of Austin, Texas’s Mingo Fishtrap.

Atlanta’s synth-pop-rock onslaught Stokeswood will release their new album 2075 on June 16th, 2015. Voted “"Best Local Rock Act" by Creative Loafing in 2013 and 2014, the quintet combines a sinful blend of Alternative Rock, Electro-Pop, and EDM to create a bombastic foundation for their cleverly crafted songs. Stokewood are known for their high-energy performances, and for 2075, the band took careful measure to include the exuberance felt at their shows.

This was a special night for many reasons. First and foremost, it was a resurrection of a historic Denver landmark. And what better way to revive a landmark then to preserve its history with a music twist? Baur’s is a restaurant and a listening lounge, which will play host to some of music’s favorite gems. Founded in 1872 as a confectionery company, it was equivalent to Willy Wonka’s candy factory. With endless candy, cakes, and even claiming to be the “inventor of the ice cream soda,” this was happening, and now it is back.

Austin’s The Lonesome Band has long delivered an unforgettable, adrenaline-pumping live experience to audiences in and around the lone star state. Now the band is excited to announce its first studio project. A collection of original songs, Running Alone will be available for purchase on May 12, 2015.

Historically, mountain ranges have been formidable barriers for civilization. But for the first settlers who passed through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, those features gave way to a unique sense of independence and became insulators from the rest of civilization, with collaboration, rather than competition, as the prime virtue. Flash forward to 2015, and you can hear this dynamic at play on BRIGHTER EVERY DAY, the newest album from Denver indie-mountaingrass quintet TROUT STEAK REVIVAL.

Two of the most buzzed about bands on the scene, Kung Fu and Twiddle, are joining forces for a twelve night co-headlining run that kicks off tonight in Buffalo, NY, and Buffalo.FM will be offering a free live audio stream of the show staring at 9pm.

The Hoxeyville Music Festival today announces the lineup for this summer’s multi-day event. The talent includes such diverse acts as Michigan’s own Greensky Bluegrass, plus Hard Working Americans (Feat. Todd Snider, Dave Schools, Neal Casal, Chad Staehly, Duane Trucks), Jeff Austin Band (Feat. Danny Barnes, Ross Martin and Eric Thorin) and many more performing on the festival’s two stages.

While the “core four” remaining members of the Grateful Dead are hanging up their collective spurs this Fourth of July weekend, Dark Star Orchestra has no intention of ending their road warrior ways. Dark Star will be in Chicago for the festivities and a performance for the Rex Foundation on July second, and it only seems fitting; they’ve been long considered the top tier of the Grateful Dead cover band food chain.
