The Big Wu

Tomas Magic Productions is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated relocation of their 4th Shakedown Festival, to the lush landscapes of Costa Rica. After three successful iterations in the Virgin Islands, this transformative music festival is now ready to take attendees on an extraordinary journey into the heart of the jungle.

The story goes that the Big Wu, bound for rock stardom, sold their souls for a case of Old Style beer one thirsty night long ago. The legend and the band live on. Still rocking their powerful, moving, and energizing original music for the fans. A jam band with a unique style and presence, the Wu combine strong, free flowing improv and vocal harmonies, with finely crafted songs for all tastes. Oh, and their fans are famously friendly.

The Big Wu will roll into St. Paul on December 16th with 30 years under their belt and over 20 years since their last appearance at The Fitzgerald Theater. Now revamped and under new ownership, The Fitz is ready to be rocked again!

When I saw the location for Rumble Down, I smiled. I wanted more of my family (kids and grandkids) to experience a small jam-grass festival. Four of the grandkids are multi-year Shoe Fest veterans but more of them need the experience and my tribe is all in the Springfield vicinity. The festival site, The Kampground, is within bicycling distance for one of my sons. This would be a bunch of first-time adventures for the family.

You could say that Chris Castino is a writer of dance music. Not the kind you hear at any club. It’s the kind you hear at a Dead show, or festivals, when the crowd moves together spinning and bouncing like an ocean of blissful and emancipated souls. Chris is the primary songwriter for his longtime popular Minnesota-based rock’n’roll jamband The Big Wu.

Come dance, hug and celebrate with your Grateful Dead community in the jungle paradise of Tulum. Dive into the music with intimate live jam sessions by your favorite artists. Explore wellness practices like meditation and yoga in the company of like-minded people. Learn from renowned healers, groove with talented musicians and hang at the beach at sunset with new friends. Enjoy catered gourmet meals and beautiful scenery as we celebrate the "Ripple" of wellness, music and kindness in our lives over a peaceful week in a joyful community!
