As this month marks the forty-sixth anniversary of Elvis’ death on August 16, 1977, the legions of fans fascinated by the King of Rock & Roll continues to grow. Proof positive was the global success in 2022 of the Warner Brothers film release, Elvis, which drew major box office numbers and critical acclaim worldwide. The desire to know increasingly more about the man behind the legend has never grown dim for both old fans and the continuing new generations of Elvis followers that have come.

Larry Rivera, a legendary fixture of Kauai, Hawaii whose career spanned over seven decades and who worked alongside Elvis Presley in ‘Blue Hawaii’ has passed away at the age of 92. Also known as “Mr. Coco Palms,” Rivera was a key fixture of Kauai’s entertainment culture where he started his career in the 50s and performed at the famed Coco Palms Resort until it closed.

My first concert was Willie Nelson in January of 1984. I was only eight years old. My mum took me as her date since my dad was sick. We trekked across town to the Universal/Gibson Amphitheatre which was later demolished for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood. I remember it being cold and rainy. Regardless of the weather, Angeleno’s were decked out in their country finest. Dark denim, blinged out belts, rhinestone-embellished cowboy hats and Americana regalia filled the theatre.

Beatles or Elvis? Who was the real King of Rock 'n' Roll? Two of the greatest musical acts of all time face off in a high-octane, adrenaline-pumping musical showdown on Friday, August 16 at the Boulder Theater courtesy of nationally touring Beatles band Abbey Road and premier Elvis tribute, Scot Bruce. The Abbey Road band performed at the Boulder Theater last year with Beatles vs. Stones.

TAKING CARE OF BLUEGRASS – A TRIBUTE TO ELVIS is available now, (Release date October 14, 2016). The first single released to radio is "Moody Blue," a tasteful bluegrass spin on the Elvis classic.
