Recording both as Parliament and Funkadelic, George Clinton revolutionized R&B during the ’70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from several late-’60s acid heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and Sly Stone. The Parliament/Funkadelic machine ruled black music during the ’70s, capturing over 40 R&B hit singles (including three number ones) and recording three platinum albums. Crowds of people flooded into the campgrounds and festival the second day of Lockn’ music festival 2018. By early afternoon a sea of color was visible as far as the eye could see. The event was indeed a multigenerational magnet composed of six decades of jazz, funk, blues and rock jam music. Grandparents dressed in tie-dyed Grateful Dead shirts joined their offspring many in Phish tie-dyes. Whole families brought their children, grandchildren and maybe even a few grandchildren creating a festive carnival-like atmosphere.
"This has been coming a long time," he states. "Anyone who has been to the shows over the past couple of years have noticed that I've been out front less and less. The shows have been great!" Truth be told it's never really been about me," he continues. "It's always been about the music and the band. That's the real P-Funk legacy. They'll still be funkin long after I stop."

The second annual WEST BEACH MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL in Santa Barbara, CA wrapped earlier this month as a huge success. The three-day festival, which took place Friday, September 12, Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14, drew over 20,000 attendees and featured stellar performances from Ziggy Marley, Jason Mraz, Natasha Bedingfield, George Clinton featuring Lili Haydn, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Jackie Greene, The Expendables and more.
