Sound Mind Live presented its third annual Mental Health Music Festival on May 20th at the Ventura Fairgrounds. The show was part of the Concerts In Your Car series, which features live music for a drive-in audience. The four-hour show combined five live music sets with comedians, commentators, poets, and more.

The gestalt theory of "the whole is more than the sum of its parts,” was in evidence in Sonoma County, California, on May 22, as the so-called Tree of Life Band delivered a dandy of a benefit show. The group was a one-time conglomerate in support of the Tree of Life Fund, which supports children and young adults living with profound developmental disabilities.

Ravensdale Farm keeps delivering the vibes with each show. Yesterday this magnificent piece of land just west of Fort Collins, Colorado hosted Jennifer Hartswick and Brendan Bayliss. Both of these very talented musicians have rich and diverse backgrounds. They are well established in the music industry and have resumes that span many genres of music both onstage and in the recording studio.

From start to finish, a masterpiece of sound and emotion pair to create Lord Huron’s new album titled Long Lost. Out on May 21, the indie-folk band does it again with 16 tracks that tell a story of love, love lost and the discovery of self.

Finger Picking Good on the farm last night! Charlie Parr made is inaugural appearance at Ravensdale Farm to a very enthusiastic sold out socially distanced crowd. When you combine authenticity, sincerity and imagination I think that best describes Charlie. Then you throw in the fact that he can flat out pick and play slide guitar along with it and that is when the magic happens.

The mountains took on a bit of rain last night and caused a brief delay for the much anticipated two night sold out run from Head For The Hills. Benny Galloway took the stage first playing his signature style of Americana inspired songs. His talents run deep as a singer, songwriter, producer and he is well respected among his peers and is typically referred to as the one and only Benny “Burle” Galloway.

Alternative rock fans can rejoice with the return of live music to the Ventura Fairgrounds. The exceptional event, courtesy of the Concert In Your Car series that features drive-in live music performances, features an impressive roster of Alt-rock performers.

Grateful Mahalo was a birthday party celebrated on the island of Kaua`i and all over the world for our favorite birthday boy, Bill Kreutzmann, drummer of the Grateful Dead, born May 7, 1946 in Palo Alto, California. Bill was told he was a teenager that he had no rhythm, but began playing drums in his early teens anyway.

If you’re looking for a new bluesy rock song to blast all summer long then sibling duo Jocelyn & Chris Arndt have the perfect tune for you. Out on June 18, their new single “Sugar & Spice” will have you up on your feet with your hairbrush microphone ready to rock out.

The funky intro is pierced by Jocelyn’s powerful vocals, with lyrics that lead you on a journey through a song that is full of classic rock grooves while seamlessly fusing with the unique sound of the well-known duo.

Beth Whitney’s new record, “Into the Ground” set for release May 28th sparked a wave of intense emotions that clearly have been brewing for quite a while now. I hadn’t realized the extent of my feeling as I’ve been cocooning. Whitney’s music helped me to see I’m distracted by a myriad of issues and hence desperately need grounding. To start off, April through June is always marked by the hubbub of the fiscal year’s end, but I’m also preoccupied by the despicable behaviors of a disgruntled colleague.
