88.5 KGNU proudly presents Pickin’ On The Dead at the Fox Theatre on Friday, December 19, 2025. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show begins at 8:00 pm.

Born from the fertile musical grounds of the WinterWonderGrass Festival, Pickin’ On The Dead was created as a joyful tribute to the Grateful Dead’s timeless catalog—reimagined through a Colorado bluegrass lens. Over the years, the project has solidified its identity with countless Deadheads across the Rockies, taking the music downriver through Adrift Dinosaur’s RiverWonderGrass series and deep into the mystical Gates of Lodore in Dinosaur National Monument.
At the heart of the group is National Flatpicking Champion Tyler Grant, a master of fluid phrasing and improvisational fire. Grant is joined by steadfast bassist Ace Engfer, groove-meister Sean “Magic” Macaulay on drums (both of whom are Grant Farm bandmates), the wildly entertaining Michael Kirkpatrick on mandolin, and keyboard wizard Bill McKay.
Together, this all-star ensemble delivers an inspired Rocky Mountain take on the Dead’s legacy—complete with soaring harmonies, fearless jams, and liquid grooves that bring the psychedelic soul of the Grateful Dead into an all-new acoustic dimension.
