The second single from the late Southern rock guitar legend and Cowboy co-founder Tommy Talton is now available on all streaming platforms. “I Want To Do It All Again” arrives as a deeply emotional preview of Seven Levels — Talton’s final album, due out November 7 on Strolling Bones Records.
Recorded as Talton courageously navigated the final stage of his battle with cancer, the song carries both gratitude and a profound embrace of life’s journey. With gentle reflection, he sings to a cherished partner, “I want to do it all again, making it new somehow,” capturing the longing for connection that defines our most human moments — “becoming every soul I ever met.”

The single premiered via Glide Magazine, who praised Talton’s lasting artistic impact: “Tommy Talton has left an indelible mark and roadmap for all songwriters and musicians, both now and into the future. His is a prolific and powerful legacy that will never be forgotten.”
Seven Levels was tracked at the legendary Capricorn Studios in Macon, GA — the musical home where Talton’s story began more than five decades ago. The sessions united friends and former Capricorn label mates including Randall Bramblett, Chuck Leavell, Rick Hirsch, Charlie Hayward, and Bill Stewart.
After the initial recordings in April 2022, Hirsch devoted months to overdubbing, mixing, and mastering — helping Talton perfect the music he knew would become his parting gift. Even in treatment, he never stopped creating. These recordings serve as both a celebration and a goodbye — music shaped by resilience, friendship, and a scene that helped define Southern rock.
Though not a household name to all, Talton’s influence is woven throughout the heart of American rock music. As co-founder of Cowboy (also known as Cowboy Boyer & Talton), he helped craft the Macon sound in the 1970s, recording four albums for Capricorn Records and touring alongside The Allman Brothers Band. Cowboy performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Fillmore West, while Talton also recorded with Alex Taylor, Bonnie Bramlett, and others throughout the era.
Seven Levels brings Talton’s story full circle — a musical homecoming in the place where his artistry first took flight.
