                                Steve Miller
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame icon Steve Miller returns to Jazz at Lincoln Center for a premiere performance honoring saxophonist Eddie Harris and drummer Chico Hamilton, vanguards of jazz and blues. Joined by Zydeco phenom Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers, Miller anchors this special concert event at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater on Nov. 14–15, 2025.
“Eddie Harris and Chico Hamilton each expanded the language of jazz,” says Steve Miller. “Their music was courageous, soulful, and full of curiosity—reminding us that jazz is, at its core, a conversation.”
Miller’s signature blues-rock guitar style will be complemented by an all-star band, featuring keyboardist Shelly Berg, guitarist Brian Nova, bassist Russell Hall, saxophonists Craig Handy, Lauren Sevian, and Patrick Bartley, drummer Herlin Riley, and trumpeter Michael Rodriguez.

Steve Miller has been a monumental presence on the American music scene for more than half a century. As a member of the Board of Directors at Jazz at Lincoln Center and at the request of Wynton Marsalis, he is defining a blues pedagogy for Jazz at Lincoln Center and has curated and headlined a series of shows exploring the boundary-breaking spirit that connects jazz, blues, and American roots music. Past concert themes included Out of This World: Ma Rainey Meets Miles Davis, T-Bone Walker: A Bridge from Blues to Jazz, The Blues Triangle: Memphis, Texas and Chicago, Music from Appalachia, Cannonball Adderley and the Blues, Steve Miller on Steve Miller, and The Future of the Blues.
Additionally, Louisiana rhythms of Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers will infuse the performance with their energetic sound that blends traditional southwestern Louisiana music with contemporary flair. Nathan Williams Jr., known as Lil’ Nathan, leads the Zydeco Big Timers, continuing the legacy of his father, Nathan Williams Sr., and his band, The Zydeco Cha Chas. Celebrated for their high-energy performances, they’ll light up the stage with the soulful spirit and irresistible groove of Louisiana’s rich musical heritage.
Saxophonist Eddie Harris and drummer Chico Hamilton each redefined the sound of modern jazz through fearless innovation. Harris fused jazz and soul with his electrified saxophone and groundbreaking compositions, while Hamilton expanded the rhythmic and emotional range of jazz through his subtle, expressive drumming. Both artists embodied the boundary-breaking spirit that continues to inspire musicians across genres.
